- Harder on that arm, Bordok! - said Orakh, as he watched his little son lift up a pickaxe almost his own size and beat it against a rock.
- That way you won't finish mining that rock until you're my age! - Orakh continued, but his eyes went against his words.
He was actually a very proud and protective father, watching Bordok grow up and complete his early years was the greatest happiness of his life, when he was not with his family or working in the local iron mine he could surely be found in the tavern, drinking and bragging about the strength of his only son.
But soon, a female orc appeared beside Orakh and interrupted the training - Enough, Bordok has worked too hard and needs to eat something - said the boy's mother, Borkak, as she cast a displeased look at Orakh.
When he saw that his mother had called him, Bordok dropped his pickaxe and ran towards her - Mama! Did you see how much I managed to destroy from that rock? Soon I'll be able to work like Daddy! - said the boy as he showed and flexed the little muscle in his arm.
Watching his son so lively and with a smile that showed all of his little teeth, Borkak couldn't help but answer - Of course I did, my golden nugget, just like father? Humph, you'll be at least twice as strong!
Orakh gave an awkward smile and said - But for that you'll have to train hard every day!
Bordok had eyes that seemed to shine brighter than the sun itself and soon approached his parents with a single hug - I will! Every day!
After the trio walked for a few minutes along a dirt road, they soon spotted a small village with a few houses made of wood.
That was the orc village that Bordok and his parents lived in, there were 15 other families living there too.
The main source of income for the village was the iron mine 500 meters away from there, where most men over 14 years worked. The ore was collected and delivered to the hands of the only blacksmith in the village, orc Gordt.
Gordt was responsible for turning that material into swords and other types of weapons that would later be sold to traders and other neighboring villages.
His skills as a blacksmith were far from good, but for the people who lived in such remote and uninformed areas, they were acceptable. All the money received would later be divided equally among the villagers and used for maintenance of the village.
-----
As Bordok and his parents entered the village, several familiar faces appeared on their way and greeted them.
- Kyahkyah. little Bordok, how was your training today? Are you ready to work at the mine yet? - said old Orc Gordt.
- It was very good, Uncle Gordt, soon I'll be ready to step on the mine!
- Bordok! You've grown so much these days! I bet you and my daughter would make a fine couple - insinuated a friend of his mother, while squeezing the young orc's cheeks.
- A...aunt! A..an orc must first concentrate on work, and only then think about that sort of thing! - said Bordok as his cheeks, originally green, gradually turned red.
After finally getting home, Borkak headed to the kitchen and soon started boning some small animals she had hunted a few hours ago, Orakh went to save the pickaxe used in today's training and Bordok sat at the table waiting for the food to be ready.
But even before the fire was lit, screams of horror and a rush took the place of the peace and tranquility that existed in that village.
- Invasors! Everyone who can fight, come out!
- Invasooors!
Orakh quickly ran around the house and took out two old iron swords that were hidden under the couple's bed, there was plenty of hay and some pieces of wood there, which made that spot a good hiding place.
Soon he reached the kitchen and threw one of the swords into Borkak's hands. The orc then looked at his little son and said in a hurry - Bordok, hide under our bed and don't come out until we get back! Do you understand?
Borkak took the sword in the air and also spoke a few words to comfort her son - My golden nugget, hide well and don't come out until we get back! Mama won't be long!
- Y..y..yes, d..don't worry...
It was only after hearing Bordok's confirmation that his parents left home more peacefully. But Bordok had other plans, he wanted to see firsthand the power of his parents and watch these damned invaders get kicked out of the village.
With great caution, the young man approached a window of his house, and with half his face he watched what was happening outside.
-----
As soon as they left home and took a few steps, Orakh and Borkak found some humans exchanging blows with their neighbors.
- Shit, this village isn't easy, I told you that we should've up closer to the city before we left so far - said one of the humans, while drilling the body of one of the orcs with his daggers.
- Ah, be quiet, Bartholomew. The XP these bastards give is 10 times bigger and so is the adrenaline - replied the human wizard who accompanied them.
- I can't wait to see the loot these monsters are going to do, to face up to an ugly thing like this the reward has to be good! - said another human warrior, right after killing an orc.
The battle Bordok witnessed was not the one he expected. The humans had 10 people while the orcs had approximately 17, and even in greater numbers, the orc side was still defeated.
Orakh managed to kill one of the invaders before an arrow hit him in the abdomen and two daggers cut his neck.
Borkak was surrounded by two humans and was targeted by an explosion of fire that knocked her to the ground and almost took the life out of her body.
The rest of the orcs suffered similar fate, even being in greater numbers and carrying a much greater physical strength, it simply was not enough to face the well-organized and better armed humans.
At the end of the fight, of the 10 humans only 4 were left.
- Damn it, I've told you! Look how many people died, fuck! - shouted the human holding two daggers, visibly irritated.
The wizard from the human side came close to Bordok's mother body, pointed his finger towards her, and answered him - At least we survived Bartholomew, so relax. Why don't you relieve all that tension with this orc here? Aren't you the one who likes breasts? This one's got plenty. hahahah
Another human survivor continued the provocation - We await you, Bartholomew. hahaha
- Oh, shut up, I'm not so desperate to face this one yet. Let's search the houses and stop wasting time here - replied the human called Bartholomew.
Borkak was lying on the ground and badly burned, her life would be gone at any moment. She slowly turned her head until she saw a familiar hut and with some effort, she could see a little green face soaked in tears.
- M..my g..golden nugget....
