50,000 years ago, Hell was destroyed because of too much Foul from the resentment of the souls that later turned to Soul Eaters and devoured everything in their wake, leaving nothing of Hell. The gods above in Heaven, in order to take care of the newly-died souls, created the Afterlife Department comprised of grim reapers. 

Huo Ling was delivering food that day when he met Yi Bing and the guy gave him a warning. When he arrived to the customer's unit, he was killed.

"I have no memories at that time." Shen Sheng spoke. "So, I didn't know that I got separated from my two other selves. Well, they had developed their own personality, so they were considered as different individuals." He explained. "That was my subconscious wish when I created them from my powers." He said.

Gu Lin is just silently listening despite he wanted to scream due to the shocking revelation that he heard from Shen Sheng.

"So, I didn't know that my two other 'selves'… they became the rulers of Hell." Shen Sheng spoke.

"Hell?!" Gu Lin exclaimed. He suddenly has a faint guess.

"En. The destruction of Hell has also got to do with them." Shen Sheng sighed. "I only knew later what happened to them before they became rulers of Hell." He shook his head when he recalled the past.
