Castaway

"I think it's safe to use these now." Captain Neil said handcuffing me. "Plasma handcuffs, the moment you try to tamper with them or they sense if you're about to use magic, it'll burst you in pieces. So be a good lawbreaker and keep walking will you?"

The trial was over, those seven cowards were free even after committing something so disgraceful. Me on the other hand, betrayed by the one I saved, and being punished for the 'crime' of saving a person. Even after two thousand years, the world still wasn't a place where justice prevails. I looked at Kayla, maybe she really was a heartless bitch, I was given the golden chance to be able to witness it first hand. Everyone was leaving the room now, except, Leroy, President Niall, his guards and Kayla who were standing at the exit.

"Move it!" the captain pushed me towards the door.

"Captain! Would you mind giving us a moment?" The President asked.

"Sorry sir, but we have been instructed to transport the offender to the one way portal ASAP." Captain replied.

"Just for five minutes, we won't take anymore time than that." Leroy pleaded bowing to the captain.

"Alright, alright, five minutes. And don't go bowing around to people who are younger than you. It's embarrassing." Captain said waving his hand. The Captain and his soldiers stepped back a bit to give us some privacy. The President waited for them to get out of earshot before speaking.

"How are you feeling, son?" he said placing his right hand on my shoulder.

"The usual." I replied. "You got any words of wisdom you want to share, before I get thrown out for helping someone who I thought was a friend?" The last line was supposed to be a jab at a particular someone.

"Zeroll I-"

"You." I said pointing at Kayla. "Shut it. I don't want to hear anything that your crappy mouth spews. Understand?"

"I'm sorry." She said and ran outside. As if her petty sorry would do me any good.

"Zeroll, I just need you to hold out there for a couple of days. I'll handle the matters with Minister Wong, just don't do anything stup-"

"I'm thankful for your help, Mr. President. But I don't plan on getting back here. Not for a while at least."

"Zeroll! Are you out of your mind? How long do you think you'll last out there? You are strong but I doubt even you can survive the nights in this harsh world. Please think about it again!" Leroy shrieked in panic.

"He is right Zeroll. Please don't make any hasty decisions that you'll regret for the rest of your life!"

"I wouldn't know that, if I never try, would I? No matter whether you pull some strings to get me back, it won't change the fact that I'll have to spend a few nights outside. right?" I replied. "And as far as my life is concerned, I had already died once. Wouldn't matter if I die again."

"I don't care whether you return here or not. I swear on my life, I'll clear your name! Even if it's the last thing I do." The President swore.

"Do whatever you wish, but as far as I'm concerned, this world only favours the strong, and so I'm going to be the strongest. Captain I'm ready to leave."

"Captain could you lose his handcuf-" The President pressed on.

"No need for that Captain, I don't want to owe favours to anyone." I said and we walked out of the courtroom.

*OUTSIDE THE COURT*

"You liar! Don't you have any shame, saying such vulgar things just to save your skin."

"Shame on you, accusing our beloved soldiers of committing such crimes!"

"I hope you die out there, so that everyone who wrongs our soldiers, get to know of what the consequences are for betraying us!"

These were just few of the loving words the great and just people of Livania, had to say to a criminal like me.

"You know what you're mistake was?" The Captain said. "You messed with someone you knew nothing about. Everyone knows better than to mess with Minister Wong. After all he technically owns all the money that belongs to the Government, and is as corrupt as they come. And Judge Reed, he's Wong's blood brother, some say they grew up together in the same orphanage. And The guy, you beat the living crap out of is the would be son-in-law of Wong. In short you screwed big time."

"Thanks for the info." I kept walking and people kept cursing me, but it didn't hurt me more than what Kayla did.

"Look man, I know Kayla she isn't the one to do something like that, you should have at least listened to what she had to say."

"You're more friendly to me now when I'm a certified criminal than when I was just a suspect."

"it's because now I know you're a good man."

"And how do you know that?"

"Because Wong never punishes a criminal."

"If I had known that earlier, I'd have joined his battalion of oppressors."

"I'll pretend I never heard that." The Captain smirked.

*TEN MINUTES LATER*

"Prepare the portal for jump." Captain ordered the operator. "Remove his handcuffs."

CLICK

"Tell me something Captain. Do you like the sky?" I said gazing at the sky.

"Thanks to the technology we have, I do."

"Then gaze at it while you can, because the day I get back, The sky wouldn't be blue anymore." I said stepping into the portal.

A one way portal to hell.
