Gods

"Please make yourselves comfortable." I said as Lady Belmai, the leader of goblins and Nathaniel alpha, the leader of werewolves entered my private chamber.

"Thank you my Lord." Both of them said sitting around a round table.

"So how did your expedition went?" I asked them, talking about the task I had given them, to convince more of their kind to join forces with me. Nathaniel was the one to reply first.

"My Lord, thanks to your summons we were successful in recruiting most of the werewolves to our side." He said beaming with pride, after all his lord has chosen him to do such a crucial task. I had ordered Goliath and Hades to accompany them so that the werewolves and goblins get to know our power and would join us immediately.

"Things went smoothly on my side as well, my lord." Lady Belmai said. "Goblin forces have been increased by 5000 troops, and it's all thanks to the intimidation of Lord Hades."

Everything was going well then, I thought, getting up from my seat and went to the window, few minutes passed before I spoke again.

"Good job, both of you." I said, looking through the window. "Now since that's been settled, I wanted to ask you something."

"Anything, my lord." Nathaniel replied.

"Do you people have God like deities that you worship? One like the ogres had?" I asked them.

Nathaniel and Belmai sat quietly staring at each other, perplexed. Why was their lord suddenly asking about such deities?

"Yes My Lord, the werewolves do have a deity that we pray to before we go to war, but she isn't the same as the deity you fought sir." Nathaniel replied.

"What do you mean she isn't like the deity ogres preached? A God is a God after all." I asked looking at him.

"What I mean is she's different. We can't summon her to our realm just by performing a ritual, she comes and goes on her will and only ever shows herself in front of a selected few. We have a saying that whoever is granted the opportunity to witness her is blessed with fortune and long life."

"Hmm... interesting." I said scratching his chin. "So what is called? She must have a name right?"

"Lady Rafaela, the goddess of fertility and fortune." Nathaniel answered.

"What about the goblins, Belmai, do you people pray to any God or any such deity?" I asked the hunchbacked goblin witch.

"Yes my Lord, as far as I can remember we do pray to the high witch Akita, she's hailed as the protector of our species but that's all I know about her. The elders might know a bit more. I'll ask them about it and if they tell me anything I'll inform you immediately." Belmai replied.

"And what about the Orcs do th-"

"Let them breathe will you?" Ashira said entering the room. "How long do you plan on interrogating them?"

"Lady Ashira!" Nathaniel and Belmai exclaimed, bowing to her.

"Please, we're like a family now. You don't need to do such a thing anymore and please be seated." she said smiling at them.

"Yeah you're right, I shouldn't have thrown a barrage of questions as soon as they returned from such a long journey. I'm sorry for bothering you guys for so long." I said. "Go and rest now, you deserve it and thank you once again for the hard work."

"It was our pleasure, my lord." They said and left after bowing to us again.

Ashira went to sit at the bed and gestured me to join her, which I did, laying down with my head on her lap.

"You've been wondering about our Gods a lot these days." She said caressing my head.

"Have I? Maybe it's because I don't have anything else to do?" I smiled. "It doesn't add up, I mean I get why even monsters have someone they look up to as Gods, humans do that and pray to Gods as well but the thing is humans can't summon the Gods they pray to. It's like our God exist and also doesn't exist at the same time. But monsters can summon the Gods they pray to, like the way you summoned Vruukor. Moreover, it's been only fifty to sixty years since monsters started appearing in this world, due to mutation. And there were no such Gods before that. So how all of a sudden these so called 'Gods' started appearing out of nowhere? I feel like something is wrong. If only I could talk with one such being given that he or she won't try to kill me the moment they lay their eyes on me."

Ashira laughed and waited patiently for me to finish before saying, "Maybe you're thinking too much. But what you are saying does makes some sense. Maybe they've been here for a long time and no one remembered how to summon them but due to the mutation maybe some of us got the key to unlock those long lost secrets? Well it's just what I think. You should try accessing the archives humans keep, maybe you'll find something there?"

"Looks like I wasn't the only one thinking about Gods and monsters, now am I?" I said pulling her in for a kiss. Just then a message popped up.
