Chapter 48: Undead's Weakness

~ Third Person's Point of View ~

He was maimed. He was maimed. Those words keep in flashing back into Sahara's mind. She can't believe that despite Cartlon's condition, he chooses to help the woman in need.

Sahara wanted to go with the princess but she knows that there's nothing she can help with. "I will hope and pray for your safety, your majesty! I will be watching out from here."

Alice tapped her head and said, "We will! Guard the place Sahara, I have to go through the dark and bring them back in here." She glances at her worried expression before leaving.

As the apocalypse continues, Billy and Cartlon stabilized barriers around the house where they're lurking in. Commonly, they have used different types of trees and sharpened it.

Survivors need an abundant space for them to dwell until they have found the cure that will turn upside down the zombie apocalypse that they are struggling to withstand.

From afar, the young woman watches the princess walked into the forest with a torch. She needs light and fire to see vividly the path. And Alice didn't speculate of possibilities anymore.

Sahara put closer her hands on her chest and embraces herself. The only thing she can help is to pray for their safety and protection. "I do hope that He will guide all of you tonight. He may be doing a miracle to end this."

The young woman remained standing as she can't see Alice. The princess has walked too far but still, she can't find Cartlon and Billy.

The fire began to fade and so Alice screamed. "Cartlon? Billy? Where are you?" She stopped for a moment. Alice looked around the forest and she can only hear the sounds of wild animals.

She then looked up above the grey sky. No stars, no moon but only darkness reign the night. All of a sudden, the princess hears a loud howl.   "Nooooo!"

It was so close. Alice said, "I need to hurry up! Or I will be killed not with the zombies but with my conscience." Before continuing with her mission, Alice heaves her sword.

She must be ready. Alice must be alert and prepared.

Big trees were dancing when the strong winds blow up. Dried leaves fling away into the air that made the forest scary and ghastly. "It became too cold in here, tonight! Woooh!" Alice murmured and she breathes out with smokes.

However, along the way of searching for Billy and Cartlon, Alice saw someone who's been leaning on a tree. She said, "Who is he? Why is that he's leaning on a big tree at the middle of the night?"

Curiosity leads the princess to take into the opposite direction. There are two ways and Alice took the left path where there is a man who's alone in the darkness.

The princess forgets about her supposed to be the purpose of going to the forest. It seems like she was enchanted by the man even though he did not do anything.

Quietly and quickly, Alice reaches the place where he is. But if she did not bring a torch with her, Alice couldn't see him. It was too dark and it is indeed hard to find people during this moment.

The prince said, "Hey! What are you doing here? Are you alone or are you with other survivors?" Alice tried to see his face, but the man covered it with his arms.

Alice waited for him to answer but she only hears a loud breath coming from him. "Answer me! Or I will punish you as I have the power, as the next queen of my kingdom!"

The princess fell into trapped. He is not a human but a greedy and selfish zombie. "Grrrrrrgh!" It roared so loud that makes her step back and covered her ears.

The princess uttered profanity when she accidentally dropped her sword because of awe. She has never thought that zombie has the ability to confuse a human being with its human-like behaviour.

Alice stepped back as the undead walked closer to her. It was dripping saliva and maybe because of eagerness to eat her flesh. She said, "Do not come closer to me or I will scorch you until you become ashes!"

Most of the zombies cannot understand what a human being means. They lost their sanity and the only thing that matters is to bite and or eat humans flesh.

While she's stepping backwards, Alice thought of a plan on how can she get her weapon back. She could barely look at the fire and its flame is fading away. "I've told you not to come nearer to me!"

But the zombie was too determined to bite the princess. It's been sauntering around the forest and Alice is the only human who falls from his trap. "Grrrgh!" It howled so horribly that makes Alice embraces herself.

How can she be this afraid and scared with a sole zombie who's trying to hurt her? How can be a fearless and courageous princess felt so helpless at this moment of her life?

How can she protect and save herself when she was unarmed? How can she escape if she's frightened and spooked? How can she kill the undead with a torch?

Without the princess knowing, the undead jumped off and grasp her shoulders. She then quickly use the torch for her to escape.

Luckily, Alice discovered that they are afraid of fire. He covered his face with his hands as its walking back, afraid and shocked. "Ohh! I've discovered one thing against you. Your weakness is the fire that can push you away so instant."

And now that she knows about the undead's weakness, as soon as she finds Cartlon and Billy, Alice will tell it right away. While they are looking for the mage, they have another way to fight against zombies.

As what the princess expected, the flame blown away by the strong wind. Now, she has nothing to do with it but to throw it away. However, she forgot to get back her sword as she frightened the zombie.

The undead uncovered his face when it realizes that the flame has gone. Thinking that he can beat the princess.

Alice moved into her right as she is looking down on the sword. She tried to reach for her weapon but the zombie stepped on it.

She exclaimed, "Come closer and you will see what am I capable of!" Alice challenged it to attack her.

The undead was bending his knees and spreading his arms like he was ready to captive the princess, his prey. He moved forward his right arms but he cannot reach and grasp Alice.

"Step forward and bite me. Come on!" Alice uttered.

As what she had planned, if the zombie will take a few steps closer to her, then she can now get the sword. Alice cannot either understand why it's not moving, where in fact she's giving him an opportunity to touch her.

"Come on! Attack me now so that I can slay you!" Alice said with no trace of fear and uncertainty.
