Chapter 5: Keeping Secrets

It was a Friday morning just like any other. Tessa Pryor got up for the day and got ready for her last day of her senior year. She then got her 8 year-old sister Teresa ready. This was the normal routine throughout the week. Tessa's father was rarely around, always leaving for work early and coming home late. It has been that way ever since her mother died. Even though that awful night was over 7 years ago, the pain of loosing her mother was still fresh.

Tessa put her emotions away and finished with her morning duties before dropping Teresa off at school and making her way to the high school. Tessa drove a very modest car. While most of her classmates were driving Beamers and Hummers, she chose a 2016 Subaru Legacy. It was modern and sleek, but was still simple which Tessa was all about.

She went through her day as normal. Classes, pick Teresa up from school at 3:30, then go home to do her homework and help her sister. Their father had hired a Nanny, but Tessa chose to still do these things. She wanted Teresa to have a small semblence of family, since she had never known how it was before mom died.

Around dinner time Tessa's father was home. He would come home to eat dinner and then leave right after to go back to work. This night would be different though. Tonight her father would decide to stay home, trying to keep his promise to Teresa to have more family time. Tessa already had plans of her own though.

After dinner, she had told her family that she was very tired and was going to bed. After wishing everyone goodnight and kissing her sister on the cheek she headed upstairs. Once in her room she quickly started to change her clothes and texted her best friend, Ashley.

Tessa: What time are we meeting tonight?

Ashley: We'll be there around 10:30. Can you get out?

Tessa: Okay I'll meet you there. Daddy dearest decided to stay home so Teresa has him and the Nanny.

Ashley: Okay babe. Make sure to wear something cute, Brody will be there ;*

Tessa: ;*

Tessa set her phone down and finished picking her outfit for the night. After applying her makeup she threw a pair of sweats over her clothes as not to ruin them, and then began out of her window and down the lattice latter she frequently used to sneak out.

She carefully checked the windows before running past them until she made he way to the woods behind her house. She walked down the dirt path that would take her about a half mile until she would finally be at her destination, The Cave.
