Jacob and Anna Marry 1

Anna'sPOV

December 21, 1675

I did not sleep well last night because I was so excited about today.  My mother sat by my bedside last night telling me about what will happen today after our wedding.  She gave me information that I cannot repeat without turning red as a tomato.  She then proceeded to pack all my belongings and gave me a special nightgown to wear.  This nightgown made me so embarrassed as there was a lot of lace and not much material.  She told me that it would not be on long.  I asked her, "What if I get cold waiting for him?"   She said that there will be a fire lit ahead to keep the room warm, and of course, I will not be cold during the act. I flushed red at that thought.  Then she kissed me goodnight, but I could not help but think about all that has transpired in the last few months.  I was so happy to finally get married and start my family.  I could not wait to be in Jacob's arms and his forever.

I finally got to sleep after midnight, and now its 6 AM and it was time to wash up and get ready for my wedding.  I decided to wear my mother's gown that she wore when she wed my father.  It was a nice blue color that matched my eyes, and it had a white apron.  Jacob helped me get it fitted to me and added more lace to the design since my mother's was plain.  Now they allowed more lace.  It was long sleeved, and my bonnet was lacier as well.  I sat reading my Bible, saying prayers for the day to go well and eating a little breakfast while waiting for Jacob to arrive.

Hurd Residence

Jacob POV

After I left Anna's yesterday, I went to the State's Arms Inn and Tavern.  I paid for my room ahead of time and ordered a dinner of Shepard's pie, spiked apple cider and pumpkin cookies for dessert to be brought up to our room.  I arranged for a fire to be lit ahead of time, so the room could be warm when we got there.  It was December, so it had turned cold.   I also arranged for a flower arrangement to be on the night table.  I wanted lots of candles lit and a fresh bath ordered.  I was assured that my family could have access to the room to set up these arrangements for us.  I wanted Anna to be comfortable and treated as a princess.

By the time I got home it was evening.  My mother fussed over me.  She said that I should not be out so late as the natives were active in the area.  I told her that there was nothing to worry about because I had my weapons on me and I took the carriage home.  I made sure she was all set for the wedding feast tomorrow, and she said, "Yes!  I had your father go out to shore and get lobsters to make stew.  We would also have mashed squash, rolls with butter and jam, and pumpkin cakes for dessert.  She told me that Hannah had baked the cakes because they were my favorite.  I thanked her and kissed her cheek.  Then I went upstairs to my bed chamber which was two times bigger than before because we made it a suite for me and Anna.  I was so excited about the next day that I barely slept.  I could not wait to be with Anna tomorrow with no barriers.  I knew we were going to be very happy together.  I eventually fell asleep, but it was not long before the roosters crowed, and it woke me up.

I got up, washed, got dressed in my Sunday best, prayed for a great day.  I ate quickly, and my parents rushed as well since my mother was dirty from cooking since early in the morning for dinner.

Anna's house December 21, 1675

We went in two carriages and arrived in Charlestown a half an hour before the ceremony.  My parents went to visit Anna's while I went up to her room.  She was reading when I came in.  I saw all her trunks ready to go and one bag for tonight.  My father and brothers came up to get her trunks.  Then we were alone.

"Anna!  You look beautiful!  I love how the dress looks on you." I spoke.

She answered, "Thank you!  You look handsome in your Sunday best.  I have always thought you were most handsome of all the Hurd men, but I bet your sisters in law would disagree with me."

I said, "Maybe, but your opinion matters most to me.  I have loved you so long, and I cannot believe we are finally going to be one today. I had a hard time sleeping thinking about it."

She said, "I have loved you for so long too.  As a matter of fact, I could not sleep either especially after my mother's talk about what is going to happen later today."  Then she turned red.

I thought it was the cutest thing ever.  I said, "Your blush is just a major turn on!  Soon my love it will happen."  I said in a whisper, then I brought her lips to mine, and we shared a kiss that made my knees weak and my member hard.  I stopped and we were breathless.  My mother showed and gave me a knowing look.   She was standing at the door with a couple of flowers and told us that Magistrate, Richard Russel was here along with the church elders.  She witnessed us kissing and my arousal.  She then told us about how her and Dad's kiss was interrupted before their wedding.  We all chuckled.  Mom gave Anna the flowers, and we headed downstairs to the common room.

As we walked hand in hand towards fireplace all our family members were present in the small room to watch us affirm and agree to be husband and wife.  The marriage was blessed with prayers and scriptures read by the church elders, and then we kissed to seal our union.  Magistrate Russel pronounced us Husband and Wife by his power given to him of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Immediately after the short ceremony ended, everyone crowded us and gave us hugs, shook hands in congratulations, and then we ran out the door and into our carriage where it would take us to the Hurd estate for our dinner, but the driver was instructed to take a long way back, and to stop at the town hall to register before heading home.  I had a plan during our journey that she did not know about...
