Egg

Seeing the space crack appear, Aura jumped into the water and, briefly borrowing some strength from his monster, leapt into the spacial realm.

Inside, Aura opened his eyes and saw himself standing on a small landmass. He around around and knocked the air behind him. Instead of acting like air normally would, it repelled his hand and rippled, almost like a force field. Aura nodded. It was as records had said, this temporary spacial realm was incredibly small. What he had just knocked on was the boundary of this world.

He examined his surroundings. There was not much to see. The brown soil was sparsely covered in a blue tinted grass. Just ahead of him was the space crack where he had entered. The only thing of notice on this piece of land was the patch of clouds in the center, suspended just above the ground.

Aura approached it, and given the small size of the spacial realm, walking to the center didn't take more than a minute. He stretched out his hand towards the clouds, and they scattered the moment his hand neared. Revealed was a sky blue egg, covered in ethereal patterns of white. Aura nodded. This was his goal, as well as the only thing this spacial realm contained.

Aura took the egg, which was similar in size to an ostrich egg. Holding it, he was surprised at how light it was. The weight made it feel like it was made of cotton candy. Puppet looked curiously at the egg, imagining the partner it would soon have. Aura placed the egg in his backpack and swiftly left the spacial realm. Other people would discover the space crack and enter soon.

Having left, Aura squatted behind a building and looked around. Spotting no one, he removed his mask and walked out, looking in the direction of the space crack. The doorway sized black portal was relatively inconspicuous placed against the dark blue ocean.

Suddenly, he could hear people shouting. A small group of children followed by a policeman ran in the direction of the space crack. They gestured at it and the policeman took out a device. Not knowing what the strange black shape was, he reported it to headquarters.

Aura turned away. There was nothing more for him to do. Later the investigators would enter and find nothing. The spacial realm would close, and they would be kicked out.

He approached a local and asked for directions to the hotel he had booked. Upon learning how to get there, Aura thanked the man, followed the directions, and arrived. After checking in and entering his room, Aura took out the large monster egg and examined it.

After turning it around and recording its distinct features, Aura placed it on a large pile of spirit jade. Being in the presence of a high concentration of mana can help speed up the growth of monster eggs.

Aura left Puppet to guard the egg, then went out to eat dinner. The local cuisine consisted of shellfish prepared in many intriguing ways. Finishing a delicious plate of crab, he returned to his hotel room. As Aura went to see if the egg showed any changes, it suddenly twitched. Grinning, Aura patiently waited beside the egg for the moment it would hatch. Periodically, the egg would twitch, and the intervals between movements kept decreasing.

After an hour, a small crack appeared on the shell. As the small monster inside struggled, the crack gradually expanded, until a small claw stuck itself out and pried off a large piece of the shell. After a few more strikes, monster was completely revealed. It was a small lizard with shifting cloud patterns on its scales. The monster looked at its surroundings curiously, and upon seeing Aura, burped out a small wisp of mist.

Aura exerted his soul force and started a soul contract. The newborn lizard had no resistance and accepted.

"You started later and contracted your second monster before me. I haven't found any Shard Feathered Serpents yet!" replied Lydian.
