True Potential

Yui, Misty and Brock were still on their way, but they were having trouble with the mist that surrounded them. "Hmm, I don't think we should continue for a while" said Misty. "I agree," said Yui "this mist is no thick it's hard to see where you're going". Brock suggested they stop and have a break until the mist cleared up. Yui and Misty agreed to that plan.

Brock set out some cerulean coffee, some tea and prune juice. Yui and Misty gladly accepted the tea, but they were too young for the coffee and none of them liked prune juice. Brock also said we would make some french crepes, but he needed water and firewood for a fire. Misty offered to fetch the water and Yui offered to fetch some firewood.

While Yui with Yin and Yang gathered some firewood, they saw two Pokémon in their way. "They are a couple of Nidoran" said Yui. She checked them on her pokedex.

Nidoran, the Poison Pin Pokémon.

Its horn is larger than the female's and its toxic is for protection. Nidoran, the poison pin Pokémon. Even though its horn is smaller than the male's its toxic can still be fatal.

Yui smile at the happy couple and left them alone. Yui with Yin and Yang were just about to head back to Brock and Misty with the firewood, when they heard voices.

They saw a boy running on a treadmill, with four older boys surrounding him. The four older boys were asking the younger boy some questions about a Pidgey. When the younger boy got one of the questions wrong, the older boys pushed him off the treadmill, called him useless and left him on the ground. Yui saw the commotion and went to see if he was all right along with Yin and Yang. "Are you alright?" ask Yui as she help him stand up.

"Ah it's okay," said the boy "this happens to me all the time. I'm Joe by the way". Yui was curious to what Joe was talking about, so she invited Joe to share crepes and tea with her and her friends. Joe accepted the invitation.

Yui led Joe back to where Brock and Misty were and they all shared crepes and tea. "So what did you mean about you being tossed onto the ground all the time is a normal thing to do?" Yui asked Joe. Joe explained that he was a student of Pokémon Technical Institute.

"Pokemon Tech is a boarding school where you learn about Pokémon," Joe said "and there you can earn badges, without travelling to get them". He then explained that the older boys were trying to help him understand about a Pidgey. "Since I saw them push you onto the ground just because you got an answer wrong," said Yui with a frown "I don't call that helping".

Misty asked "Hey, Joe could you take us to see this Pokémon Tech." Joe did so. By the time they got to Pokemon Tech the mist had finally cleared. Pokemon Tech was a massive building.

Joe gave them a tour. He explained that the lessons are really difficult and that some students were still behind everyone else. "What grade are you in?" asked Misty. "I'm still a novice, but I have two badges" said Joe. He showed them sort of machine that showed them that he could easily beat the water Pokémon of Cerulean Gym with his Pokémon Weepinbell. This made Misty cross.

"Look here you," she said "this machine is nothing compared to real Pokémon battles. As a gym leader of Cerulean Gym I challenge you to a real battle". Joe accepted.

Joe and Misty got ready to fight in one of the training rooms. "I calls Starmie" said Misty. "Okay and I choose Weepinbell" said Joe. "Starmie use tackle!" Starmie hit Weepinbell with just one tackle and Weepinbell was knocked out immediately. "No way!" gasped Joe "How did my grass type lose to your water type?"

"Because the Starmie has been trained more than your Weepinbell" said a voice. It was a beautiful girl with long hair and the four boys from before were with her. "It's true that grass beats water, but it depends on the experience of your Pokémon" said the girl.

"Who are you?" asked Misty. "I am Giselle," the girl said "the top student of Pokemon Tech. And I wish to battle you now."

Misty kept her Starmie out and Giselle sent out a Graveller. Brock was shocked by that choice, water types beat rock types. Yui took out her pokedex and scan it.

Traveler, the Rock Pokémon

Rolls down slopes to move. It rolls over any obstacle without slowing or changing its direction.

But Graveler easily defeated Starmie with a tackle attack, and wasn't even dazed by Starmie's water gun attack. Misty couldn't believe her eyes. "There now you see Joe," Giselle said with a smirk "since my Graveler was more experienced than Starmie, which is the reason it won".

Yui finally can't stand what she said "Wait a minute! There is more to Pokémon that it's level of experience! All Pokémon have it's own potential to grow strong and you lack what can make a Pokémon break through their limit. It's trust between Pokemon and Trainer."

Giselle look at Yui with disinterest but ask "So, who are you?" Yin and Yang jump of her shoulder knowing that Yui can protect her own honor. "My name is Yui Arc Blade from Pallet Town." Giselle still look at her disinterested "I see then how many badges and Pokémon do you have?"

"I have two badges and five Pokémon." Reply Yui. Giselle and the five boy behind her look speechless for a second before they laugh. "Ha..Ha..Ha..! And I thought that you have four or five badge to bark that kind of speech but it just all bark!" Laugh Giselle with her boys.

Yui don't look a bit insulted by her action she just give her a stern and stoic stare "So why don't we battle to prove my word not just a speech." Giselle stop laughing and grit her teeth as she feel that Yui somehow mocking her "Fine. Let me remind you your place."Yui sent out Rai, while Giselle sent out a Cubone. Yui took out her pokedex.

Cubone, the Lonely Pokémon

It wears the skull of its dead mother on its head. When it becomes lonesome, it is said to cry loudly.

"Just an information I just get Rai for a month but we are going to prove our bond will overcome that level you said." Said Yui after she put her pokedex back to her sleeve. "Cubone hit that mouse with bone club." said Giselle in sneer thinking that Yui can beat her most experience Pokémon.

"Agility and Quick attack dodge to the left, step back one step and dash then hit him by Iron tail." Said Yui stoically. Rai avoid Cubone's bone club and dodge to left like what Yui said take a step back to change his tail and then rush to Cubone hitting him with Iron tail in the stomach making Cubone eyes wide in pain and he fly back and crash to the pond. Cubone let out a loud shriek as he was in pain and getting drowned in a pond.

Giselle clench her hand and bark an order "Cubone get out from that pond at once!" Cubone come out from the water shivering from the cold water and his body rattle in pain but then he stand straight again ignore the pain. "Use Bonemerang!" Yell Giselle.

Yui look at the move and give Rai a nod. Rai then grin as he let the bone follow him to Cubone and then he jump at Cubone's bone face using it as a launching pat to avoid the flying bone as that bone hit Cubone who staggering from Rai action. This make Cubone mad and he shine he evolved into Marowak healing all his wound that just Rai did. Yui look surprise at first before come back to her stoic mask while scanning Marowak with her pokedex.

Marowak, the Bone Keeper Pokémon

From its birth, this savage Pokémon constantly holds bones. It is skilled in using them as weapons.

Giselle smile "Ha! I knew that Cubone is close to evolving and now taste this Marowak use Bone club!" Marowak dash to Rai in intention to hit his head.

Yui sigh "How predictable. Pikachu move right a foot then slide forward after that turn around and use Brick break on Marowak back."

Giselle yell "Like I will let you! Marowak turn that bone right!" Marowak turn to right to hit Rai but he only hit air as Rai haven't even move right as what Yui said. This make Marowak open his back to Rai.

"Now Rai! Brick break!" Yui yell. Rai finally respond making his hand glow and hit it on Marowak back. Marowak let out a pained yell and lay four on the ground.

"Let me tell you an advice, you should never underestimate any type of Pokémon. Sure, ground type is immune to electric type. But electric types can learn moves that can defeat rock and ground types. Just like water type can learn moves that defeat grass types." said Yui ignoring the amazement look she get.

"Rai use Electric terrain!" Yui yell at Rai as Rai let out an electrical charge that spread through the battlefield. This make Marowak paralyze and unable to move but it's not hurting him at all. "What are you going to do!? Don't you know that all electric type move is ineffective too a ground type?!" Yell Giselle as she finally become afraid at Yui stern and slightly cold face.

"Still what I want to show you is not about Pokémon moves but their bond with their Trainer. The bond that can break through the limits people always thought about Pokémon." Said Yui as she point the sky. "Rai Inazuma!".

Rai then use thunder to the sky making a terrible cloud storm then he use fly and agility to enter the cloud then Rai came down to the battlefield his body charged with very high volt that it change color from yellow to black. Rai then tackle his lighting covered body to paralyzed Marowak. Marowak let out a scream that so loud making the whole academy shake. A big dust cloud is made during the scream.

After the dust cloud dispatching they can see Marowak faint while his body twitching as the lighting still have effect on him. Meanwhile Rai is also sparking from the left over volt that he took while panting badly.

"Rai always have trouble controlling his lighting as he can take in unbelievable high volt that a Pikachu shouldn't have. That why I train him to the bone to control that force. This move still have many hole but it also a method that I come up with to channel what others and Rai used to call a weakness. This is the possibility I see when I see him I believe in him to be able to surpass the logic and he did. By believing in my training can help him. This is our bond. No matter how painful it is as long as it was worthy. We will walk that path even while crawling." Said Yui as she pick up Rai and use her ability to heal him back.

The students were amazed by this; this was something they were never taught at Pokemon Tech. This a new window of possibility and it's up too them to see the next horizon or not.

After healing the Pokémon Giselle apologize to all the student she mock and she decided to turn a new leaves along with Joe to leave Pokemon Tech and go home to start a real journey.

As for Yui, Misty and Brock. They bid farewell to the students and continued their own jorney.
