Field Trip!!!

It had been 3 months since I had gained the sleepless skill and stopped sleeping entirely. I became pretty famous for my eating habits as well. It was to the point where the cooks greeted me as the Guy With a Void Stomach. I couldn't really speak much on this matter since I had to eat a lot to substitute for my body's sleep.

Even though I became popular on a rather miscellaneous field, the system still reprimanded me by taking away 1000 merit points which honestly wasn't much. Seriously, was being able to eat considered a type of potential?

It was also during this time that the Formation Magic Class was finally moving onto the actual meat of the subject. They had just learned the fundamental principles behind the most basic of Formation Magic. To broaden everyone's horizons, Professor Alice organized a field trip to the Wizard's Tower in the Kingdom of Wizardry.

The Wizard's Tower was the place where all magicians wished to work at. It was an institute dedicated to magic research. It was also the place most magicians seek to attain an enlightenment to breakthrough to the 1st Circle and further. Thanks to the headmaster's standing as a 6th Circle Wizard and with his many connections, it was made possible for us to have a field trip there.

The Wizard's Tower originated in the capital city, Panthos which had a bunch of attractions as well as a Wizarding Academy. We were to stay at the Wizarding Academy in the guest dormitory since our headmaster was friends with their headmaster. In total, our class had 31 people so I could probably have a room to myself if their dorm rooms were of the same size as ours.

As for how we get there, we were travelling via the academy's spacial formation portal. We would go through our academy's portal and exit out of the Wizarding Academy's portal. Once the portal was activated, it would need a week to cool down and gather magic particles for it to work again so we would be staying in Panthos for a week.

Despite the fact that it was a field trip, we still had to go to classes there as "International Students."

We would depart on Sunday right before dinner and attend the Wizarding Academy from Monday to Friday. Saturday would be the day we actually went to the Wizard's Tower and we would return at night on Sunday.

—a couple days later—

It was currently 5:30 and our class was gathered in front of the transportation site. 100 square meters of paved stone was awkwardly placed in the surrounding greenery. Unlike the formation at the Holy Church, this one was many times larger. The formation looked to be composed of white chalk but it was actually inactive Mana Lines.

Mana Lines were an inactive type of mana that would remain outside the body yet also draw in the surrounding magic particles to sustain its being. They were used in all formations. As for how it works, I didn't exactly know since the library didn't have that information available.

We headed to the center of the formation and waited for its activation. I wasn't particularly close to any of the sophomores but some of them had clearly never experienced teleportation before as their visibly nervous faces were exposed for all to see. Since I had the inventory function of the system, I could pretty much carry all my belongings with me so I didn't physically bring any baggage.

"Get ready class!" Professor Alice shouted to get our attention.

At once, the Mana Lines started to shine with a white light and blinded our vision.

In a moment's time, my eyesight returned to me as I looked around. Rachel who was supposed to be on the other side of the class was somehow right beside me. Ignoring her, I looked at my surrounding scenery.

It was similar to our academy campus, however there were noticeable differences. The trees had an abundance of colors ranging from green to orange. Back at the academy, it was spring time but it seems that it was a different story here. The surrounding vegetation further backed up my belief that it was autumn here.

A young man with grey frizzly hair in a purple robe and wizard-like hat greeted us.

"Welcome! Welcome! You guys must be the Formation Magic Class right?"

"Why yes, you do remember my name don't you Graybeard?" Professor Alice looked at him with a smile.

"Of course I do Alice. The headmaster has something to discuss with you so I'll be guiding the students around."

"Very well." She left us with Professor Graybeard.

"Everyone, I am Professor Graybeard. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Welcome to the Wizarding Academy. I will be guiding everyone around the campus for today. If you have any questions, please come look for me."

He did a quick headcount and led us to the guest dormitory. He didn't seem to care much about the dorms so he let us pick our own rooms. I went to the inconspicuous room at the corner of the top floor and took it for myself. It was a bit of a greedy choice but who would care when there were so many more available rooms.

Contrary to my thoughts, Rachel was somehow in my room and was already unpacking her luggage of clo—what the f*ck; were those dumbbells? This muscle head girl really brought dumbbells on a field trip!?!

No, in the first place, how did she get in? I was sure I locked the door.

"You—how did you get in?"

"Me? What are you talking about? I was right behind you." She looked at me like I was a weirdo.

"You do know that I'm a guy and you're a girl right?"

"The Graybeard guy said it was fine for boys and girls to bunk together. Besides, you are the only one I'm familiar with."

"Aren't you afraid I will assault you at night or something?"

"Do you dare?" She gave me a red glare.

"Of course, I wouldn't mind if you had the guts to actually do it. But I don't think you are that type of guy." She continued.

I felt that I heard something that I shouldn't have but it was probably my imagination. Anyway, I ignored her and went out of the room in search of an empty room.

Sadly, all the other rooms were already occupied so it looks like I will have to share a room with Rachel.

Once she finished unpacking, we went down and waited for the others.
