Come Back When You're a Main Character

We jumped up the stage and looked at the odd duo.

"Woow! Aren't you the prodigal second princess! UwU looks like we won't be winning this one Six." The magical girl whined.

I normally wouldn't care about what people said, but what she said caught my interest. What was this second princess? Was she referring to a certain nosy and pesky mosquito next to me? She certainly needs to get her eyes checked because this bug's demeanor has no resemblance to royalty. Though I do admit, the bug has the potential to become a great femme fatale.

"I'm Alice and this one here is Six! He doesn't talk much since he's a monk though." She continued blabbering on as if she forgot the setting was a tournament.

"And who's this hooded guy? Are you into cosplay too?" She continued.

'Cosplay my *ss. You're the only kid here with that fetish.' I wanted to give a retort but my inner consciousness knew I was guilty. After all, what man wouldn't want to dress in black and look like a suspiciously cool person.

"Bzzz! Now that everyone is situated in their respected stages, LET THE MAGIC TOURNAMENT BEGIN!!!" Crankenstein shouted loud enough to almost rupturing everyone's ear drums.

The monk child, Six immediately cast a level 2 Aqua Ball at me. The ball of water was about double the size of a basketball. Even though it was just water, I knew I couldn't underestimate it. Even back on Earth, rivers with strong flowing currents could kill any man if they fell...though it was mostly because of drowning.

Either way, since it was a spell, given enough force, it could even break my bones when it lands. That was 'if.' Despite how strong it was, its downside was how it could only be aimed in one direction.

It moved toward me as fast as a car going 30 miles per hour. My current agility stats were nearing 100 if you added the equipment stats of the hoodie I was wearing. I could dodge the Aqua Ball with ease if I really wanted to but I was focused on the magical girl.

Alice was casting a spell and it looked like Six was only trying to buy time with the Aqua Ball. He cast 3 more Aqua Balls but the strange thing was, none of them were actually aimed directly at me, but in the areas around me.

With the remaining time I had before I had to dodge the Aqua Balls, I examined the magic circle Alice was casting. A dark blue spell with 4 circles indicating it was a level 4 spell. I had yet to study level 4 spells so I had no idea what it was.

Preparing for the worst, I ran up to the two of them with my high mobility and placed my hands on their eyes.

'Blinding Curse.' I thought in my head and in mere moments, a black mist flowed from my palms into their eyes.

Looks like it worked.

The reason I rushed myself to master this trashy level 3 Darkness spell was because I was certain that almost all the participants were specialized in magic. If they were specialized in magic, I would not expect them to have a high physique. The Blinding Curse paired with my high mobility would allow me to constantly blind the enemies with ease and if their mana purity weren't at the Beginner Arch-mage realm, they would have to dedicate a full minute at least to remove it. Needless to say, my current Darkness manifestation was only capable of blinding people of the Magus realm. Once they reached Arch-mage, the spell would have no effect unless my manifestation improved further.

"What the... I can't see!" Magical Girl Alice started whining.

This was exactly what I wanted. In her moment of surprise, she stopped channeling mana to the magic circle that had yet to be finished which resulted in the mana dispersing; ultimately, she was unable to cast the magic.

If I were in her situation, I would ignore the blindness and continue casting as if nothing happened. But what more could you expect from an immature kid?

As I was too focused on Alice, I had completely ignored Six. He opened his eyes and a golden light was emitted from them.

"Ommmmmm." He opened his mouth and started chanting some type of divine mantra.

He was currently floating in the air in a Buddhist meditation pose. His profound aura surrounded the entire stage.

Even though he was chanting, no magic circle showed up so I didn't know what to expect.

"Heero, get away! He's using one of the monk's secret spells!" Melissa shouted from the corner of the stage.

I heard Melissa's voice from the back and realized I had completely forgot she was part of my team.

I turned my head and saw her eating some popcorn from a tub while watching me.

'What the f*ck! Aren't you supposed to be helping me as a teammate? And where did you get that? I didn't know there was popcorn in this world!?!'

Either way, I ignored her advice and cast five Fire Balls at Six. He seemed to still be occupied with his chant but I was certain he could not ignore five level 3 spells. My mana was completely dry now. I had already cast seven level 3 spells which was my upper limit.

The amount of mana spells took depended on the level. Every spell level increased the mana cost by 10. Level 2 spells took 20 mana, level 3 took 30, level 4 took 40, and so on. I currently only had a mana capacity of 210 so seven level 3 spells completely drained me. In the first place, my mana capacity was around double the size of most people at the Beginner Magus realm.

As I had expected, the five consecutive Fire Balls had obliterated Six. He was now completely charred black and surrounded by a bubble. In a couple seconds, it flashed and he was transported somewhere else.

Now there was only one opponent left, but I had no mana.

I did not panic despite my current dilemma. I had already prepared a plan B.

I was going to save this as a last resort and I had no intention of using this method until I reached the finals.

'But what must be done had to be done.'

'How many Merit Points do I have?'

[Merit Points: 9400]

'Appraise mana potion.'

~~~~~~~~~~
Mana Potion(Common):
A dense concoction of high quality magic particles.
1. Invigorated: Refills mana by 100.
~~~~~~~~~~

'Buy 50 mana potions.'

[Received: 50 Mana Potion(Common)]

I imagined my inventory and thought about using the mana potion.

[Invigorated: Mana +100]

I felt a cluster of mana magically appearing in my body. I recently learned that I could use potions with a thought instead of physically taking it out of my inventory and drinking it.

Even though this system was supposed to help me, I had to interrogate it for a whole hour before it opened its mouth regarding all of the system functions. Of course, I had originally hypothesized this function since everything about this system reeks of an rpg game.

While the magical girl was still busy trying to remove the blindness, I cast three Fire Balls to finish her off.

In the end, it was inevitable that side characters would lose to me with a main character(Melissa) on my side.

The thought that I was the actual main character of this world had never occurred to me at this point in time.
