Start Of a Journey

After winning for the first time in the match, I lay down and turn toward Himura, giving me a flattering look. I finally smiled at him and burst in a fit of laughter.

Joseph: "HAHAHAHA...finally won against you guys who are monsters at your field expertise."

Not bothered by my comment, I stood up, went out of the ring to grab a bottle of water from the water dispenser nearby. Afterward, coming back with two bottles of water on hand, giving me one of the containers. I sat up, grabbing the bottle of water before thanking Himura.

Himura: "You do know you wouldn't be able to win if I had my weapon with me right." he said while taking sip water from his bottle. Afterward, sitting in front of me in a seiza position.

I looked at him with a funny look as if I heard a hilarious joke in the world.

Joseph: "Yeah, you would have won the match if you're sword with you, but you don't… HAHAHA… don't be a sore loser and accept that you lost to me in hand to hand combat."

Himura looked at me before sighing. Himura just nodded at me because of my word. Just before he would let it go, he had a curious glint on his eyes and asked me a question.

Himura: " Joseph, are you sure you never learned a martial art before joining SCP. Because it only took you four weeks to learn basic jujitsu from me and the rest you created by yourself. Your form looked like you had perfectly mastered the form a long time ago." he said as he looked at me with a questioning gaze.

I processed what he said to me. After thinking about it before asking Himura to teach me jujutsu, my mind was blank when we first fought—after my defeat from everyone in the squad, making myself the weakest of the group. Something unlocks in my head combat techniques, weapon handling, and stealth tactics. Though it's vague, I just need to practice at it once before the clouds in the head clear up, giving me a clear picture of what I should do. Except for magic, everything else seems natural when I first try it.

Joseph: "No, I haven't learned jujutsu before coming here. When we first fought each other, something just clicked in my head plus your teaching, making it easier for me. to learn."

After hearing my vague answer, he just nodded before letting his question go. Afterward, Himura stands up to walk towards the exit before stopping in front of the door. He turned his head and looked.

Himura: "You know you're more of a monster than all of us right, you fill your weakness by taking the best path for yourself. Even if it looked like regular learning for you, your learning speed is too fast for an average human." he said before turning his head and exiting the training ground.

Not minding what Himura told me. I stood back up and headed toward the girl's dorms to pick up Haruhime for my magical training.

After a couple of minutes' walk, I found Haruhime and Rory talking to each other. I walk towards the duo to greet them.

Joseph: " hello, Haruhime, and Rory, how are you all doing?" I said, stopping in front of them.

Rory: "I heard from a little birdy that you finally won a fight from our group; this is getting interesting." She said while licking her lips, looking at me with fierce eyes.

Knowing that she wants a fight, I dodge her gazing at me. As much I want to learn fast, I also love my life and don't want to die young just yet. I quickly changed the subject toward my magical training.

Joseph: "Haruhime, are you ready to teach me already. If so, let us go." I said while dragging Haruhime away from Rory.

As I was dragging Haruhime, she was flustered because I was holding her hands. I'm not blind that I would not notice she likes me. But right now is the best time for me to be in a relationship. I have too many things going on in my head. I still need to learn magic fast as if so I could patch up my weakness to magical entities.

In a blink of an eye, four weeks have passed. In those four weeks, I have better control of my blood magic, but unfortunately, my low mana reserves cause me a great deal of hardship. I could only form a small hunting knife to fight. I regretted picking blood magic instead of charm magic, which at least has healing and defensive charms.

Haruhime finally got some courage and confessed her feelings to me. I, of course, declined her affection for me, I told her, 'I still need to sort out my life first.' In response to my word, she would wait for me to get my life together. I did not say anything about her words.

Right now, the squad is waiting to get their SCP badge, uniform, and diploma. We also got the location on where we will work and who we will work from the three factions. Himura, my best friend, will be working in Japan together with Dragon syndicate and exterminate the ghouls that are eating people in secret in Japan.

Haruhime surprisingly willingly chose to join the Trinity to find the lost Holy Grail. Seth, on the other hand, didn't tell us where he would be going, but he keeps saying, 'I'm going to space.' Gabriel is joining Illuminati in the main headquarters in New York. 18 is not joining any faction; instead wanted to be a doctor in SCP. Rory just mysteriously laughs at me, giving me a crazed looked, which creeps me out.

Me, on the other hand, did not choose a location or faction to join too. So SCP higher-ups randomly pick the camp I'm working for and the place I will be deployed. I randomly joined the Illuminati faction in site-14 somewhere in Antarctica and sent it on March 31, 2002. Knowing this, I can't complain because I was too lazy to choose a tropical place to relax on. Knowing this, I went to the Agartha market place to buy some supplies. Not knowing the impending doom awaits of me on site-14.
