Joseph: "No, I am not going with you to become your cameraman again." I said while grabbing an ice pack from the fridge. "Besides, I am already retired, don't drag me again to another tomb of a lost civilization," I said while placing an ice pack on my cheek.
Elena: "Come on, Joseph, besides we're not going into another tomb." She said desperately through my phone. "We're going to Kathmandu, Nepal, to document some temples that the people pray there."
Joseph: "NO! I am not going back to work again." I said with an annoyed look on my face.
Elena: "OH, so you don't want extra footage of you killing more pirates then." when I heard her say that, I didn't believe her instantly.
Joseph: "Your lying; you don't have anything on me to blackmail." I growled at the phone.
Elena: "Oh, but you did; you killed lots of people when you stayed behind to protect the temple entrance." She said mockingly while I just glared at the door Lara left. "And if you're wondering yes, I have footage of you covered in blood. Man, you look dashing in red how many girls would love to see your ruthless side."
Joseph: "DON'T YOU EVEN DARE!!..., " but before I could finish my words, Elena interrupted me again.
Elena: "OH, how would your daughter feel when he sees her father covered in blood from his enemies." She said in a fake sad tone through the phone. "Oh, her innocence would have been lost." She tearfully said through the phone.
Joseph: "FINE!... I'm coming to join your damn crew." I growled at her.
Elena: "great, meet you in New York, same building." She said before Hanging up. I am pissed at everything right now. I just think that this day was the worst day ever losing someone to protect them and Elena roping me into another problem.
I heard the door open, and I saw Haru, who just came back home from her friend's house. She looked around and looked at me in confusion.
Haru: "Papa, Where is Mommy." she said while looking around the place. I looked at her and gave her a sad smile on her face.
Joseph: "Haru, what would you do if you wanted to live with grandma and aunty back in Ngāpuhi, for a few days while I am gone." I said while smiling at her. "And you could skip school for a few days and think of this as an early winter break."
Haru: "Okay, papa, I will be going back to my room and pack up." she said before running up to her room. I look at her sad face, and I know she probably knew what happened here with Lara and me. I didn't bother telling her as she would eventually learn it anyways.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few days have passed, I already dropped off Haru to my mother and sister. I was surprised that Jonah doesn't work in the restaurant anymore and joined a mercenary group. It was sad that I wouldn't be able to see him again, but it's his choice to go back to work.
Currently, it is the beginning of November. I am riding a bus towards Kathmandu, one of the largest cities in Nepal. Sitting next to me is Elena, who was checking her equipment.
Elena: "Why are you always, moody? Did you break up with your new girlfriend or something." She said jokingly at me, which I sternly ignored and just looked out the window. "Oh.. did I hit the mark. You must have pushed her away or something knowing your personality." When I heard her words, I glared at her and asked her a question.
Joseph: "what about you and Nate last time I came with Haru. You were happily in love with each other." I mockingly said, which got Elena quite.
We stayed silent throughout our ride to the city. When we got near the town, I heard gunshots. I look at Elena with confusion on my face. I saw Elana grabbed a gun from her bag, which surprised me.
Joseph: "Elena, did you just say we would be documenting some temple or something." I growled at her while glaring at her for an answer.
Elena: "Okay, I might have lied to you we are not just filming some temples we are going to track down a dead man named Lazarević to prove to the media that the war criminal is not dead." she said with a guilty smile on her face. "Besides, there will be no tombs in this one. though the town is in the brink of a civil war between the rebels and the government."
Joseph: "better be I don't want to be in another tomb full of dead people like last time." I said while looking at Elena, who was preparing a gun. I was going to ask if she had another weapon on her, but I felt danger coming right at us.
I looked around and saw an RPG flying towards us. I grabbed Elena and went towards the back of the bus.
Elena: "what are you doing? Why did you suddenly run toward the back of the bus," She said annoyingly. Still, before I could tell my words the bus was hit and tipped over and treated rolling around, I hugged Elena to protect her from all the rolling around the bus. After the bus stopped moving, I looked at Elena if she was hurt and after that inspected myself if I had any wounds, which I did. I had a big open wound on my right shoulder, which I could patch up later.
Joseph: "We need to leave this bus before it blows up," I said while kicking the glass window. It didn't take that long before I kicked it open. When I looked around the area, we crashed in the middle of a warzone. A building is falling apart, dead bodies littered everywhere people are running for their lives. I saw an M4 lying around together with a heavily armored dead man. I grabbed the M4 off the dead body and ran toward Elena, who was filming the warzone.
Elena: "Wait, Joseph, a couple more minutes, and I get the best footage." she said while taking away her hands from mine. I grabbed her camera from her hands and glared at her.
Joseph: "there won't be any footage if we both die." I growled at her while dragging her to safety. "Come on, Elena, I will keep the camera running while we run away from trouble," I said while running to a nearby building to hide from the armed men that are gunning down people. "So much for just filming some old temple," I said while sighing.
