Trust Your Instincts

---Lara pov---

After fighting my way out from the palace, I was then getting on the helicopter. I then threatened the pilot, so he would land the aircraft to get out friends. But it was too late when suddenly a bolt of lightning struck our vehicle.

When the aircraft crashed to the ground, everything went black. All of a sudden, a small light was calling out to me, and I followed the little fire.

I then woke up and saw Roth carrying me out of the wreckage of the aircraft. I was struggling to breathe as he dragged my body away from the wreckage.

Roth: "come on, Lara." he said while pulling up and hugging me. When he finally pulled me into a hug, I saw Solarii men coming behind us.

Lara: "Behind you, Roth," I said while struggling to get up. Roth turned around and started shooting them down while hugging me. Roth suddenly turned around to take a hit for me. "NOOOO," I looked at him with a scared look on my face.

Roth turned around and saw an ax sticking out of his back. He started shooting down more enemies with his duel pistol while I looked at him with a worried look on my face. After killing all the enemies in the area, he walked backed and sat next to me. Roth looked at me with a sad smile.

Lara: "Roth, I can't do this without you." I said while looking at him in sadness, trying not to cry. Roth looked at me and slowly talked to me.

Roth: "Lara, you are not alone," he said while putting down his weapon on the ground. "You have someone who will support you all the way, and you could do this, you are a Croft," he said before slowly closing his eyes. When I heard his last breath, my eyes started tearing up as I hugged Roth.

A few minutes had passed, I pulled the ax out of his back and laid him down on the ground. I looked at Roth's cold dead body in sorrow. All of a sudden, I heard footsteps coming towards me. I looked at who was coming and saw Sam and the group. I was going to go back and mourn for Roth's death when suddenly my eyes caught the attention of a man covered in blood that Jonah is carrying on his arm.

The man has a broken arrow on his chest; I looked at Sam, who gave me a sad look on her face. Due to the rain that is currently raging right now, the blood was being washed away off the man.

When I saw the face of the man, my heart quickened as I realized why Sam looked at me with a sad look on her eyes. I looked at Sam and asked her a question.

Lara: "Sam.. who shot Joseph.." I said while having a terrified look on my face as I looked at Sam, who gave me a sorrowful look on her eyes. When I saw her face, I knew who shot Joseph with an arrow. I didn't need to hear anything from Sam. Sam came right towards me and hugged me for comfort.

Sam: "it's okay, Lara. You didn't know who he was back then," she said while hugging me. I cried my lungs out. Reyes was holding Roth's cold hands in sadness.

Reyes: "okay... How is this okay.." she said while glaring at me. "Have you forgotten she is the reason we are stranded here in this god awful island." Sam sternly looked at Reyes and talked to her.

Sam: "That's not fair, Reyes." Reyes looked guilty as she looked at Roth.

Reyes: "Your right… I shouldn't have said that. It's just... Roth," she said while looking sadly at Roth, who lay on the ground. "I don't know what we're going to do without him." Jonah put down Joseph on the ground and looked at us with a sad look on his face.

Jonah: "we need to find somewhere safe," he said while looking at Joseph and Roth. I let go of Sam and looked at Joseph's blood-covered face. I started whipping it off and saw that it is him that I shot back when we were in the palace.

My heart is shattering right now, remembering the look he gave me when I shot him with an arrow. The look of confusion written all over his face as I backed away from him. I then remembered all the red blades that were flying around Joseph. I looked at Joseph and whispered something to myself.

Lara: "what are you Joseph," I said while combing his hair with my hands trying to wash away the blood.

I looked at his face and saw that his mouth was moving, saying something while he was in this state. I got near his face and heard what he was whispering to himself.

Joseph: "Lara, don't leave me…" he repeatedly said, when I heard his words, I kissed him on the forehead.

Lara: "I am not going anywhere, Joseph." I said while wiping my tears off my eyes

After patching up Joseph's wounds, we then moved to a safe location and buried Roth's body and gave him a proper send-off.

We looked at the burning giant fire where Roth's body is buried. I then looked at Jonah, who is carrying Joseph on his back. Jonah noticed my gaze looking at Joseph and gave me a reassuring smile on his face.

Reyes: "there is an old PT boat on the beach," she said while sorrowfully looking at the burning fire. "I should be able to fix it up."

Jonah: "it's worth a shot." When I heard their plan, I looked at Sam, who also looked at me with a worried look on her face. I closed my eyes and told them the bad news.

Lara: "it doesn't matter… were not getting off this island," I said while looking at Joseph then remembering all the unnatural things that are happening on this island. "There is something that is preventing us from leaving this place."

Reyes: "Whatever that thing is, I am not dying on this goddamn island." she said while walking away from our group first.

Jonah: "Lara, I know you have thought that your instinct is your weakness. But they are your strength." he while looking at me with a stern look on his face, "trust them, we need you right now."

Alex: "the big man is right," he said while looking worriedly at me. I looked at them, and then I looked at Joseph, who is still unconscious with a hazy look in my heart.

Lara: "can you give me time to think here," I said while looking at them. Jonah nodded and was about to leave when I stopped him. I looked at Joseph and kissed him on the cheek.

Jonah: "Too bad, my brother is not awake to give you a kiss back." he said jokingly; then, he started walking off with Alex. Sam stayed behind and gave me a smile on her face.

Sam: "you know where we are, come down when you are ready." she said while giving me one last hug. I then let her go and gave her a gun that Roth was using.

Lara: "keep this close" when she grabbed the gun, she looked at me and nodded before running towards the rest. I then went back and looked at the giant fire again and whispered something to myself.

Lara: "trust your instincts… "
