Food Wars (2)

Shu Hwa held onto her babies as she looked at the row of meats and veggies. She turned to Ji Woon excitedly as she pointed at the meat like a kid wanting a candy...no...that was incorrect because the twins were doing the exact same thing.

He smiled helplessly and could only give in. He asked them to find a seat while he grabbed the food.

Shu Hwa nodded obediently. She held onto the twins and made their way to an empty table.

He sighed as he went up to take one of the aprons that were hanging on the wall. He put it on while he tried to hype himself up, "Let's do this."

He hurriedly took a wooden platter and grabbed all the meats. Soon, the plate was filled up with some marinated beef, pork cheek, pork bellies, and so on. He took a look at the veggies available and grabbed some water lettuces, cabbages, and perilla leaves for the wrapping.

After he had finished going around the food, Ji Woon went towards his table which had a grill in the middle and sat down while placing the plates.

The twins yelled in excitement when they saw the abundant foods spread out on the table. They quickly urged Ji Woon to start grilling the meats. While Ji Woon did the work, the twins watched attentively on the side with drools on their mouth.

Right at the moment, the server came to their table and placed the various side dishes which included kimchi, bean paste, green onion salad and also the bonus dish that came along with the third combo. They had chosen four bowls of cold noodles instead of rice.

They were here only for one thing - MEAT.

However, it was a must to have cold noodles after BBQ to end the BBQ night out perfectly. In addition, cold noodle is a good choice to cleanse the palate as well.

As the meats were grilled, the delicious aroma permeated the air and teased the twins as well as Shu Hwa's appetite. They instantly swallowed down while gripping on to their chopsticks. They were so ready to tackle these gorgeous slices of meats.

They couldn't stop drooling as they watched the meats cackled and soaked in its own juicy fat making them appear even more tantalizing. As the aroma of the beef drifted to their noses, they couldn't sit idle no more and began to snatch the cooked meat and stuffed them into their mouths.

In an instance, the row of meats disappeared from the grill without a single warning.

Ji Woon widened his eyes as he looked at the three gluttons before him who had their mouths stuffed with meat. His tongs fell from his hands. A look of disbelief flashed on his face.

"The meat...!"

'My meat…'

His heart was in so much pain after his wallet had been dried out and when he had thought he could at least savour the meats to soothe himself, they were all easily eaten by these three monsters. With their monstrous speed, how would he be able to finish grilling and eat?

The twin's eyes were literally screaming, 'MORE…MOREE MEAAT!'

"Goodbye meat!" he bid his second goodbye within a day as he continued to place the pork slices on the grill.

Shu Hwa hungrily wiped the meat while eating them wrapped in leaves which was a favourite way of eating for Korean.

She sighed in complete blissfulness as she said, "It's very phenomenal"

The quality of the meat was so good. She could feel their tenderness and the explosion of delicious pork juice inside her mouth.

She picked up another slice of beef and dipped it in ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce) before stuffing it to her mouth. She moaned under the succulent taste, "Mmmmmm...I feel like I'm in Heaven."

Shu Hwa glanced at their kids and saw how much they enjoyed their food as well. They were currently munching on the fried chicken happily. When they were about to take a piece of meat again, she placed some leaves on their plates so they would eat it in a wrap. Eating meat alone is unhealthy.

However, the twins grimaced at the appearance of veggies. They stared at her with a silent plea for her to take this horrendous thing off their plates. But, Shu Hwa narrowed her eyes at them and pointed her chopsticks at the veggies. Her face looked extremely serious.

Hence, the twins reluctantly ate the veggies, though they grumbled softly. Yet, in the split second, their faces brightened up again when they saw her placing beef and pork slices on their plates.

Shu Hwa winked at them as she grabbed onto the tongs and told Ji woon, "Now it's your turn to eat. I'm not that heartless to let you cook for us the entire night."

Ji woon exhaled in relief. He was truly thankful that this boss of him still had a heart. He happily surrendered the tongs to Shu Hwa and grabbed his chopsticks. He looked at the juicy meats and began savouring them.

'Shit!' He cried internally as he flapped his hands trying to cool down his scalded tongue.

Shu Hwa rolled her eyes and handed him a glass of water. "Are you a kid? Haven't you seen food before?"

Ji Woon gawked at her in disbelief. 'Hello? Look who's talking? Hasn't she look in the mirror.'

He grumbled as he drank some water to cool his tongue. Shu Hwa looked at him and scolded, "Eat slowly. No one is going to steal your food."

'Cough..Cough..' He choked on his water and glanced at her disbelievingly.

'My dear little sister, look at all the meat you three gluttons have eaten. You have emptied half of it and you still have the nerve to say no one is going to steal.'

He looked at the two small gluttons who still had their eyes on the price even though their tummy was already poking out of their shirt.

'To hell with the burnt! The MEAT IS MINE.'

He grabbed the meat quickly and placed it on the lettuce with some grilled garlic before wrapping it up and popping it inside his mouth. This time though he already has gotten used to the heat.

"Mmmm…. So tasty…so delicious!"

He picked some beef slices which was glistening with their juices and swallows them wholly.

He closed his eyes in contentment as he said, "My cooking is the best."

The twins rolled their eyes at the narcissist in front of them. Afterwards, they watched their mom placed the pork belly on the grill.

He sighed happily. He was truly at bliss at the moment. "These are the best BBQ meats I ever had in my life."

Shu Hwa chuckled. She continued grilling the meat for her small little family. She was glad that at least she had them and by the end of the day, no matter how hard the day was, she could still smile. And that was all because of them.
