Corrie stood before him with wide eyes not expecting what she had just heard....
While Hayner just looked at Axel with eyes wide open. He had blurted out everything so quickly and so straightforwardly that even he was left hanging with his mouth wide open.
Corrie looked at him and then at Hayner.
Corrie,"You are still drunk? Haven't you got better from the hangover yet?"
She touched his forehead with her palms with troubled eyes.
Axel's expression was still serious as ever when he reached for the frail hand on his forehead. Hayner snapped out of his imagination and couldn't suppress his laughter at Corrie's reaction. Axel glared at him before turning to Corrie,"I am not sick! Don't you believe me?"
Corrie,"You aren't in your right mind!"
"I am!!! What do you want me to do?!"
"I want you to tell me that what you have said just now was nothing but a joke",she snapped.
"Its not....i swear its not, Corrie."
Corrie walked right past the two after hearing Axel's words with a stern expression.
How could that happen?! She was just a server ...a girl from a completely different time era. She couldn't believe what she had just heard! How could a Prince fall for her.....it must just be a fantasy to him! But for a peculiar Prince like him.. to do such things to a girl, a server, it was really unusual. She wished she had never heard it and would act like those words never fell on her ears from that moment on.
Axel looked down and was covered with gloom as soon as she went away...Hayner put his hands on his shoulders but decided not to say anything. Axel didn't say anything, he just said he wanted to be alone and after Hayner left. He sat down on his bed and started thinking deeply on where he had gone wrong.
He slept restlessly that night also Corrie who kept tossing and turning.
The next morning---
"Good Morning, Your Highness. The water is ready",Corrie said bowing down not willing to look up.
Axel looked at her darkly and went away without a word.
Corrie was surprised by his reaction but thought the better of it.....like'this kind of things happen hufff'
The whole day, Axel was outside working and interacting with people since he was soon to be a King. He was even more strict and cold towards the people which made people around him feel chilly. He had an oppressing air around him all day . He did his work well and was vigilant....perfect for an upcoming ruler.
At the end of the day, reports were sent to the Queen who was impressed by how much work he had covered in a single day. Everyone who went with him were tired except Axel who was still with a nonchalant expression. After everyone left, the Queen smiled at both the person in front of him. Hayner told her everything which made the Queen's expression turn to disbelief and pity. Hayner complained,"Because he was rejected, he let off his steam on us poor people letting us work all day. That too with an expression like that"
Axel galred at him the whole time he was talking.
Hayner was already like a son to the Queen....his father had died on the battlefield with Axel's father so naturally the Queen thought she was responsible for him but he was not demanding but was a very loving child. He had lost his mother at a young age and so he also loved the Queen very much.
The Queen glanced at Axel and then at Hayner while Hayner was explaining to her.
