Persuasion Gone Right

Standing in front of the big prestigious school, Akira lifted her head, her eyes taking in its magnificence. Her gaze moved to name boldly engraved on the top of the school building and she read out loud.

"Celebrity High School," she sighed and took a deep breath, nothing was going to prepare her well enough for this life.

"How in God's name did I end up here?" She said to herself and thought back to when she was at the hospital.

**Flashback**

"But Miss, consider the benefits or is it the cost?" The doctor persuaded her again.

"Its not just that, I offered her a full fledged scholarship but she still refused."

"... " the doctor's mouth hung agape.

"I do not want to attend a school where those spoilt brats are attending."

"But Miss, perhaps you are not understanding. Going to this school opens a whole new world of possibilities for you. Do you just want to throw away this once in a life time golden opportunity? A lot of people would kill to have a chance like this. I'd literally do almost anything for my son to attend that school someday and here you are with this green card."

"He sure has sweet tongue, putting it like that, he makes it seem like I won a lottery" Akira said in her head.

"It's like you won a lottery girl" as soon as he said that, she mentally face palmed herself.

"And all you did was be brave and save a well known important figure from death. Parents are wishing for their kids to be in your shoes right now. You are popular already and then with this? Please do reconsider Miss Takahashi!"

"Please think of this offer Miss Takahashi, think of your mum, you'd be able to help and assist her. You won't have to make her worry with your education" Mr Watanabe chipped in with pleading eyes.

"We are doing fine sir. We're not complaining, right mum!?"

"I could really use the help."

The mother and daughter duo spoke almost at the same time and then turned to look at each other.

Her once calm and babyish mother, turned to a serious woman. She gave her daughter the 'don't you dare look', while Akira gave her mother the 'ohh I would mother" look.

In a couple of seconds, it was a mind-staring contest between the mother and daughter pair. After some minutes of some mind staring talk between the two, Mrs Takahashi's once stern face turned to a solemn puppy face... Pouting with her teary round big eyes at her daughter.

That seemed to have done the trick as it broke the carmel's back, because the next thing they all heard was...

"Okay, okay I'll go. Now stop with that face mother." She rolled her eyes at her mother. Her mother knew her weak spot for her, when they lost her little brother and father, it broke her heart to see her mother down.

So whenever she gave her that teary eye, Akira would always recall that point in their life and she didn't want her mum feeling that way.

Akira quickly closed her ears as her mother squealed and rushed to hug her.

"Mother, stop it already, you are not a child anymore."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you so much darling, no going back on your word dear."

"No, I won't mum."

After she hugged and kissed her daughter all over her face, she turned to face the pleased Doctor and Mr Sato Watanabe and beamed a smile at them. Before she gave them news.

"It's an official yes Doctor, Mr Watanabe. That would take a few days to get her settled and ready to go."

"If she is fit enough by tomorrow, she would start school" Mr Watanabe replied.

"Sir, her uniform would take a bit long."

"Not to worry, everything has been taking care of Mrs Takahashi."

"Hmm, he always have an answer and way out to everything" Akira muttered to herself.

"Really? That is great news sir. Thank you so much for everything."

"No thank you."

"Now sir, please you need to get back to your ward. She has agreed, and as promised," the Doctor said to Mr Watanabe and moved to his side to assist him.

**Flashback Ends**

She was brought back from her thought by a voice, it was the driver, he called out to her as he waited for her to leave the entrance of the vehicle so he could close it.

"Miss Takahashi... " he started to say.

"Ohh, sorry!" she apologized, and moved forward so he could close the door. "Thank you sir," she said to the driver as he went back into the car.

"You are welcome Miss Takahashi, enjoy your day!" He called out to her, she curved her lips into a smile and waved goodbye.
