On fire

Just for the blink of an eye, a flash so bright it could blind anyone, flew through the sky.

Then everything went back to normal. But just for one moment.

„What's going on?", Tristan thought and looked up to the sky.

Then it began.

Screams throughout the whole city. People ran, yelled and shouted.

The whole arena was in panic. What was going on?

Then, one person pointed towards the sky.

„The sky! It- it's on Fire!", as the person said That, everyone looked up. The sky had turned into a bright orange-reddish Color and was quickly enveloping the whole city of Durakles. A heat wave came with it, houses started burning, the whole city was running around.

„Everyone get to shelter!", someone screamed.

Though it wasn't over, the person who first saw the flaming sky, screamed. A droplet of lava landed right on his head.

„What the hell?", Tristan tried finding Cameron in the crowd.

James and his father already were long gone to somewhere.

„Tristan!", suddenly Cameron's voice came from behind him.

„Quickly, come with me!", he said, after wich Tristan followed him out of the arena, they were running towards the city gates.

Though it seemed that luck wasn't on their side.

„Immense danger detected. Please leave the area of danger immediately. Threat level: God.", Nova's said.

„Threat level god? What's that supposed to be?!", Tristan mumbled.

„Please do not take the foreseen course. It is recommended to take another path.", Nova said.

„Cameron! We can't go this way!", Tristan quickly gave the information to Cameron.

„We have to! It's the shortest way out of the city!", Cameron replied and kept on running.

„Nova, can you give me an optimal path out of here?", Tristan asked.

„Map loaded. Please follow my instructions.", Nova responded.

Tristan now knew the whole city, every single street or alley there was. He took Cameron's arm.

„This way! Trust me!", Tristan was following a marked path on the map inside his head.

What irritated him was, that the end of the route constantly changed. He didn't mind it yet and left it to his future self.

He took Cameron's arm and dashed along the streets, into alleys and even through houses.

„Immense danger detected! Please leave the area immediately. Threat level: God.", Nova repeated once again.

This time, Tristan found out what Threat level God meant.

A beam of fire suddenly appeared in the middle of the street they were on, a dozen of running civilians were burned, just by standing close to it.

And then, a person stepped out of the fire beam. A man, looking to be from another world.

A clean black suit. The whole outfit was perfect, not a single bit of ash or dirt. His shoes were shining in the bright light of the burning city.

His red hair was combed backwards.

He looked like an anime protagonist, or rather antagonist.

„You!", he practically hissed and looked at Tristan.

Slowly being approached by the man, Tristan took a step backwards.

„Run Cameron! You can escape!", he said and pushed Cameron away, tempting him to run.

But Cameron just stood there.

„Come! We can run together! I will protect you and the sword with my life! Humanity can't lose another worthy one! After the sword acknowledged you, you are the only one who can wield it!", he said.

„Is this your friend?", the red haired man asked, suddenly he appeared behind Cameron.

The alarm messages from Nova were constantly repeating in his head.

„Yes! I know! You don't have to tell me that!", Tristan whispered annoyed.

„Can you let me concentrate?!", he added, to wich the alarm messages stopped.

„Are you ignoring me?!", the red haired man angrily asked.

„Who are you? What do you want from me?", Tristan returned a question.

„Me? I am the great Lord Inferno! I am what you would call god. And because of you, I have to stay secluded inside my palace, wich is worth more than your whole life, for a hundred years!", he explained.

„And how is that my fault?", Tristan asked.

„Argh it's Just is!", Inferno replied irritated. He didn't expect Tristan to ask so many questions.

„Back to where I was, admit defeat now or I will kill this one!", Inferno said.

„I don't get why you need to do that, didn't you say you're a god? Can't you just snap your fingers and everything is how you like it?", Tristan teased him.

„You!", Inferno couldn't find the words to answer.

He brutally shoved Cameron aside, by throwing him against a wall, where is head collided with the wall was a big red blood stain.

Cameron's unconscious or even lifeless body slid down the wall and laid on the floor.

„This is getting out of hand! We need to do something!"

„Calm down. I already sent Aeros. He should be able to take care of him."

„You know That Inferno is only classified as the weakest because of the seal! Don't you remember how he was when you found him? If he returns to that state now... god knows what will happen."

„It is just a Little human. He won't get so angry over him. You are to cautious."

„I hope you are right."

„Inferno, Brother, it is time to stop!", another voice came from the sky.

„Jesus, how many are there?!", Tristan asked himself.

„Don't you dare come near me!", Inferno shouted back into the sky and took his eyes of Tristan.

„I don't want this to end badly! Don't get yourself hurt, brother!"

Tristan rushed over towards Cameron.

„Cameron! Are you okay?", Tristan asked.

While the gods threw words at each other, Tristan tried to tend to Cameron's wounds, though without any success.

„Don't worry about me. Worry about yourself.", Cameron didn't make it easy for Tristan.

„Cameron! Stay with me!"

Though Cameron's wound was lethal.

„Good bye... Tristan.", and with that, Cameron's life ended.

„Damn you! Why couldn't you stay alive!?", Tears flowed down Tristan's eyes.

The one time he got close to someone he lost them. How else would it be?
