They came out of the house and saw the light slowly disappearing behind the clouds. Fabius Maximus glanced at Anne and saw her rubbing her hands with a huge smile. "Now, let's go and clean up some zombies!"
He could see Jenny chuckling and wondered. In passing, Jenny patted his shoulder. "Anne is now fired up to fight. Let's go and get her something to do. I don't care it is zombies, vampires or aliens."
He could see even in Jenny's eyes that she was ready to fight more and just gave up. Actually, he finally felt the wish to fight as well. After these fools attacked them, he is feeling that it was time to clean up the covens.
But first, they have to save the rest of humanity.
Three people rushed through the town with the crowd in tow, killing zombies with swiftness.
When they stopped and went back home contently, a bunch of people stared at them happily.
Fabius Maximus saw the two women going to take a long bath and he just took a shower. He started to wash up more often now but still couldn't find a liking for the tiny tub.
He remembered the other world and smiled as he went to the kitchen. He was quite astonished as he saw Anne standing there and cutting vegetables for dinner, while Jenny was craving for sweets as it seems.
Since he met them, he started eating better and better. He sat down and looked at Anne with expectation and she chuckled.
"Don't worry. We have enough meat. I will make your favourites." She actually gave up ordering him to eat vegetables but noticed that he ate them on his own now.
As she took the whole a T-bone steak out of the fridge, his eyes shone like two lights. ''Wow!''
Anne somehow felt happy. Even tho she prefered vegetables, she liked when people ate the food she prepared. She could see his eyes happily staring at the steak and chuckled. ''Can you wait for a bit? It takes some time to fry a perfect steak. I need to prepare it before.''
But that was not the only thing she planned. After the T-bone steak, she took a plate with beautifully marvelled meat out of the fridge and his mouth almost started leaking. He swallowed and just saw her slowly grilling it on he table barbeque.
This was the first time he saw this thing, but he didn't care to ask too much. All he could think about was meat. His eyes were practically glued on the sizzling meat and he didn't even hear what Anne asked him until she poked him with the huge fork.
''Hey. How do you like it, rare, medium or well done?'' She just put it on, but just remembered that some people like it bloody, so she had to ask.
''Medium rare if possible, please.'' With a dazed expression, he looked at her and then again his whole attention was on the meat in front of him.
As the meat was done and the whole mountain of it stood in front of him, he just swallowed and almost choked, as he saw Anne pushing a salad towards him. She could see his desperate expression and just rolled her eyes. ''Eat with veggies, it will taste even better.''
He looked at the meat, then the veggies and at last at her and just shook his head. ''No. Thank you. I think it will be enough if I eat this deliciousness in front of me.''
Jenny pouted. ''Can I have one?'' The smell was so enticing, that she wanted to eat a piece as well. But started laughing as she looked at him.
Fabius Maximus almost hugged the huge plate filled with a bunch of meat and pouted. ''No. Mine!''
Anne started laughing and just went to the fridge to take a few slices of the marvelled meat and grilled it for Jenny. ''Don't worry mom, I will make some for you as well.''
With a huge smile, Jenny nodded. ''I have the best daughter in this world. Wrong. I have the best daughter in any world, universe, reality and existence.'' Her eyes were glued at the meat, while her mouth was spouting out the words she could just think of at that given moment. ''My baby is the best!''
With smiles and light laughter they ate a bunch of food, but strangely, none of them felt that they overate. Fabius Maximus and Jenny were sitting on the balcony and were patting their bulging bellies, but still smacked their lips. ''It was so good.''
Anne just rolled her eyes and brought the cake, that Jenny made just before they started eating. ''Any space for a piece of cake?''
The two turned around and smiled brightly. ''There is always space for cake.''
Looking at their happy faces Anne sighed in relief. These two could coexist the whole time, maybe in the future...? But then brushed off those thoughts. She still had no idea what his plans are. Who knows? He might have more people come and saying weird stuff.
Why weird? She already was weird herself. Their current world is overrun with zombies. And then there are vampires. Who knows what's next. Werewolves? Fairies? There are so many things to find out and to explore. And then there is one more person she was interested in.
John...
John was like a brother to her. She hoped that the plant will work well, so she could extend his lifeline. She found him interesting, but differently than Fabius. To her, John was just a friend, but Fabius was someone she could imagine to walk with her on her way to the future.
She could see him chatting with Jenny about some things but didn't listen as she was considering many things. Why does she have to consider? He is here. Right in front of her. Why not just give it a chance.
With such a thought she turned her head and literally locked her eyes with his. She first froze but then saw his warm eyes. A naughty wink escaped one of his eyes and made her speechless.
Seriously?
