Ashley arrived at Oreburgh city when evening came. The streets were already getting empty as everyone was getting back home or towards their inn. Ashley yawned as she too went towards the Pokémon center to get something to eat and get some rest.
After all, she needed to be well rested if she wanted to challenge the gym next thing tomorrow. She'd heard that it was supposed to be a Rock-type gym. The Pokémon she'd use would be Shaymin and Monferno. Vespiquen was a bad choice, as she had no moves that were that effective against Rock-types.
If need be, she would use Sylveon, though she didn't know if Fairy-type attacks would be very effective against Rock-types. If she remembered right, it wasn't super effective, but it would do enough damage. Sylveon wouldn't be in a disadvantage.
Ashley yawned again as she decided she would quickly finishing her dinner, the brushing and go to bed. She was tired to death and she really needed so fluff time and some sleep.
Guess no one can beat a good night rest.

The next day Ashley woke up completely refreshed. She started with getting herself and her Pokémon ready and went to get some breakfast.
She and her Pokémon ate just enough to not be stuffed and went towards the gym. It was pretty early, so there shouldn't be any challengers before her. When she arrived at the gym, she immediately saw the person she was looking for. The man had red hair and a miner helmet on his head. She'd heard form nurse Joy what the gymleader looked like and immediately recognised him.
She stepped forward and greeted Roark, the Oreburgh gymleader and challenged him to a battle. Roark accepted and they both went inside. The gym's battlefield was especially made for Rich-types. There were big rocks lining the field all over the place. Not that it would be a problem for Ashley and her Pokémon.
The referee stepped forward as he stated the rules of the battle.
"Each trainer will use three Pokémon and only the challenger may substitute Pokémon. Let the battle begin." the referee said.
Roark sent ou his first Pokémon, an Onix. It was a giant snake like Pokémon made completely of Rocks. It roared as soon as it came out of its Pokéball.
Ashley nodded and chose Monferno as her first choice. Monferno was pumped up as he punched the air in excitement. His fighting spirit was obvious and his excitement was contagious. As soon as the battle began, Monferno ran forward, jumping from one rock to another as his fist began to glow.
"Do it Monferno." Ashley said as she already knew Monferno's strategy. She gave him complete reigns for this battle and would only interfere occasionally. Monferno nodded as he jumped up Onix's body and ran over his back, punching when Onix started to shake around and trying to throw him off. Monferno held on tightly, while he still climbed upwards. As soon as he reached Onix's head, Monferno unleashed a quick succesion of Mach punches straight in Onix's face.
Onix roared loudly and finally manage to throw him off. When Monferno landed nimbly on the ground, Onix unleashed a powerfull screech attack. Monferno covered its ears, as it was in pain from the attack.
Monferno quickly dug underground. Onix didn't take any of that and slammed hard with its tail on the ground. What Onix didn't expect was Monfero already having left the ground when Onix's tail slammed down. Monferno jumped up and instantly appeared in front of Onix. His fists glowed and Monferno unleashed a powerful Mach punch straight him Onix's face. Onix was blasted backwards and fainted as soon as its head hit the ground.
"Onix is no longer able to battle, the winner is Monferno." The referee said, while Roark withdrew his Pokémon. He followed it up by sending out his Geodude, a Pokémon resembling a rock with two arms.
Monferno was still as good as ever, so Ashley didn't withdraw him. Monferno happily jumped up and down at his victory and immediately jumped from rock to rock to confuse his new opponent.
Geodude didn't take any of it, as it immediately used Hidden power. Glowing bubbles shot towards Monferno. Monferno didn't expect to see a long range attack and was a bit slow with dodging. He was hit on his legs, drastically slowing him down. Geodude saw his chance and followed it up with Rollout. Geodude was very fast and hit Monferno. Monferno had been better prepared now, as he had managed to block the attack with a Mach punch, throwing Geodude high in the air.
"Monferno, finish it up with Flamethrower." Ashley said. She knew that a normal Flamethrower wouldn't do much damage. Monferno knew it to, but they had the same idea in mind. Monferno's tail blazed with a powerful flame, after which Monferno sent a very powerful Flamthrower at Geodude. It had no way to dodge and was hit straight on.
Geodude fell heavily to the ground. When the dust cleared, an unconcious Geodude was visible on the ground.
"Geodude is unable to battle, the winner is Monferno."
Monferno happily exclaimed, though he didn't jump as his legs were still damaged by his battle.
"Monferno return and take a good rest." Ashley said as she withdrew Monferno.
Roark seemed a bit surprised but didn't say anything about it. Monferno had taken damage, true, but he still seemed pretty fine. It was up to the trainer to decide so he didn't mention it. The girl must've had a good reason to withdraw her Pokémon.
Roark sent out his last and most powerful Pokémon, his Rampardos.
Ashley hadn't seen this Pokémon before and took out her Pokédex.
"Rampardos, the Head Butt Pokémon and the evolved form of Cranidos. Its Headbutt attack is so powerful that it can pulverize even the sturdiest of objects with one hit."
Ashley was a bit surprised as she knew this had to be a fossil Pokémon she'd once read about. She'd heard about it from other trainers, but this Rampardos seemed really powerful. Still, she wouldn't be out done and would beat it.
"Go, Shaymin." Ashley called out her Shaymin. Shaymin appeared and he looked like a little Pichu against the big Rampardos.
Shaymin looked Rampardos over from head to toe and still arogantly scoffed at him, angering Rampardos as it felt as if Shaymin didn't take him serious.
The battle began and Rampardos ran towards Shaymin as he used Zen Headbutt. When Rampardos came close, Shaymin dodged it extremely fast. The training Shaymin had went through paid of as he moved quickly over the battlefield with ease.
Rampados blasted a Flamethrower towards Shaymin that was again dodged. Shaymin became bored as he dodged all Rampardos' attacks with ease. Becoming fed up, Shaymin bombarded Rampardos with multiple Magical leafs as he ran around Rampardos. Shaymin ran so fast it created after images, making it difficult to see which one was real.
Having received all those attacks, Rampardos fell to his knee. Shaymin took this as a chance and used Seedflare, sending Rampardos flying straight into the wall. Rampardos powerlessly slid down to the ground, completely unconcious. The battle had went by so quickly, Roark didn't know what to say. The referee however did.
"Rampardos is unable to battle, the winner is Shaymin so the victory goes to the challenger." The referee said.
Roark accepted his defeat and handed Ashley her Coal badge. Ashley was glad she got her second badge. Now she needed to go towards Hearthome city. There was another gym, so she could battle against Fantina, a Ghost-type gym leader, to win her third badge. Before that, she had to get herself a new Pokémon, preferably a Ghost or Dark type.
