The two of them lived in easy companionship during the following months.
Wu Yun learned that Lan Tian was very industrious, and often took the initiative to build things to make their life easier.
One day he went deep into the forest and came back with several huge bamboo stalks slung over his shoulder.
Wu Yun asked him what he intended to do with them, but he just got a pithy "you'll see," as an answer.
He let him alone to his devices, and a few hours later Lan Tian had made two poles to hang their wet clothes from, and a crafty device so they could plow a larger plot of land at the same time.
"Great, now I won't have to hang our clothes from the trees," Wu Yun said inspecting the new clotheshangers, testing their stability.
"Mn, I saw how you scuffed your hands the other day, and thought this might be more useful," Lan Tian said.
Wu Yun also learned that Lan Tian was very considerate in everything he did.
