Meeting magic

Somewhere there is a forest so deep it would take weeks to traverse it. In the darkest center under the mountain, where the old trees are so magical that they can never die. There are beasts so powerful they would bow to no man in the entire world. In this forest there lives a young woman. This girl, barely old enough to live by herself in normal society, has called this magical and ancient place her home for 7 years.

Lara was very young when she first entered the forest. When she did, her magic had barely begun to take shape. When Lara just entered the forest she was already alone in the world, thrown away by her father, who could not feed her or love her.

During the first days, she was very hungry and only ate plants she had learned was edible while working to pay her father for her room and board. Ever since she had been able to carry a basket and distinguish between plants, her father had sent her off to work every day. Now that she had no other choice, what she had needed to learn, kept her alive.

During the incident that made her father abandon her, when her father had decided that he did not want her in the house anymore he had wanted to marry her off. But for this father who had no love for his daughter, where she ended up did not matter, as long as he benefited.

Therefore after finding an towns official that could help him with his business and that would want a girl like her, he had promptly sent her away. The young girl who had old turned 12 would be given to a middle aged official as a servant. When Lara arrived at her new home and learned of what waited for her there, she ran away.

When her father found out, a bounty was set on her capture. In the adventurers guild the notice read that his daughter had gotten lost picking medicinal herbs. Many adventurers found traces of Lara in the outskirts of the forest, but none could ever catch a glimpse of her or catch her.

Since she had decided to never return and with the knowledge and confidence that she could live on her own. Lara would venture deeper and deeper into the forest to evade the adventurers looking for her. She felt very strongly that no matter what she met with in the forest is would be better than going back to her father or wherever he wanted her to go.

After half a week sleeping in a tree and eating raw plants, Lara started to feel her energy change from staying in the forest. Plants that she didn't know before would catch her eye and she would pick them to learn more about them. After feeding them to a rabbit she caught, she found that they werent poisonous and she started to eat them as well.

After months of slowly being pushed further into the forest Lara met her first magical beast. She had already seen countless animals in the forest before, but the moment she laid her eyes on this one something felt different. This wasnt a wary, instinct driven being, but something that looked back at her as if it was asking what business she had looking at it.

'How beautiful.'

As if something she could not control took over her, Lara's growing magic reacted to the outreach of the beast. Since every creature with magic has their own special instinct. The doe with blue eyes that had no irises and a blue line of fur running from its nose all the way to its tail felt Lara's fire energy.

A docile herbivorous beast like a sky blue deer could never dare slight fire energy. And so, the doe knelt deeply before Lara and stayed very still. It did not tremble in fear or think of running away, because what it felt for Lara's magic was only obedience. It would stay there until it was allowed to leave.

Lara could feel that the doe in front of her was greeting her. But she had no idea what to do about it. However, as a curious and impulsive child, Lara approached it. When she arrived close enough to reach out her hand and touch it, she stopped halfway. She wanted this beast to come the rest of the way.

'Please don't be scared'

The unspoken intent between them could be felt by both parties, and since they meant each other no harm the doe reached out and let Lara's hand rest on itself. The impression Lara was left with was profound. She felt her chest burning hot enough to set some leaves around her feet on fire. The energy in her had fully awoken.

The doe became frightened for the first time. The girl in front of it had not shown any intent to harm but now her aura was blazing out of control. The sky blue doe layered a water magic shield around itself and the ground nearby.

Lara could feel cold coming from the blue shimmering light around the doe. It made her realize her predicament. She took her hand off the doe and shouted for it to run. It had tried to help her. She did not want to harm it.
