It's a bright Saturday afternoon and the McVenus relatives are all dressed up. Irye is still in her room, since it's a weekend, she baths late and lays lazily in bed. After being more than bored, she stands her half naked body up and dresses. Choosing an ash knee reaching baggy top with a hood and arms length sleeves to wear, she combs her messy hair and in a hurry to leave the room, she takes the hair brush with her downstairs.
She stops at the living room, looking at Grams and her cousins all polished. She is confused.
"Are you leaving today?"she stops combing her hair and they laugh at her words and actions.
"Why?..Wanna put a starter on those eyes.I know they can make a pretty much big ocean."Gerrard teases."No thank you".
They break into laughter again making Irye laugh with them too.
"Well we aren't,at least for now"Grams confirms with a laugh."We..".
"We are going for a family date"Evie shouts, interrupting. Irye's eyes widen.
"Family date?"Irye questions with forehead crease.
"Uh huh"Evie nods."Will you come with us?"she tilts her head waiting for an answer.
"Nope, I'll pass"Irye says after thinking for some seconds."Thanks tho..."
"Come with us please"Evie doesn't wait for Irye to finish."It'll be fun"she says walking to Irye and crossing arms with her.
Irye looks around and doesn't miss the disappointment on their faces.
"Oops sorry"Irye apologizes and stares at them.
They force her but her answer stays the same. It's been really long since she went on a date with her family. Even if she is asked to forget the past, she can't help but still remember the memories she shared with her parents when they go out. That's one reason she doesn't want to go and another reason is her no being in the mood after all what happened with Blake.
Grams somehow understands her and asks "Will you be alright?. You'll be left here with your step sisters. You know how annoying Bethel can be."
"Grams, am not a kid"Irye scoffs."Even if the whole family are out,I can take care of myself let alone Mirabel and dad. Don't worry and go have fun."she returns to combing her hair.
They understand and bid her goodbye before walking out the door.
She sits on the couch and switches the television on. After some minutes she gets up out of hunger. Since she felt so lazy to eat breakfast in the morning, her stomach is now growling for food.
She enters the kitchen and decides on what to eat. Some cookies and juice she thinks. But she has to bake the cookies herself.
She folds her sleeves up and tie her hair into a bun not to get anything getting in her way. After everything, she puts the ready-to-bake cookies in the oven and goes upstairs on the thought of hearing her phone ring.
She walks inside feeling lazy to switch on the light in a hurry to pick her call. Her curtains are closed and because the window glasses of the house are tinted, the room seems dark.
She doesn't mind brightening the room even though she can't really find it. She doesn't remember where she leaves her phone the night before and walk about the room repeating the same sentence."Where are you?".
Following the directions of the sound, she passes her hands on her bed in search of it. Her phone stops ringing. She raises her pillow still searching. Someone enters but she doesn't notice.
"Ugh where the heck are you?"she almost yells frustratingly making the person freeze in place thinking they've been seen.
A shadow rushing towards the door catches Irye's attention. She turns and scans only to see a silhouette.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"she asks squinting her eyes.
The person is quiet and Irye becomes a little angry. She is not sure whether bits her eyes deceiving her or it's true someone is there. Her stomach growls once more and she tries walking towards the door. Well the silhouette shows it's a girl but she's not sure since they're not talking and she is getting hungry.
She stops midway, fighting herself. Some kind of chill run over her and she speaks again."Where are you?"Asking in a deep voice this time.
The person switches on the light out of fright over hearing the new voice. The room brightens showing Anne with her hands still on the switch. She is startled by Irye's now pitch black eyes.
"I..Irye?"Anne's voices hitches.
Irye glares at the brunette girl standing there shaking.
"Am scared"Anne says causing Irye to smile sinisterly.
"Oh here you are little angel"Irye giggles evilly.
Anne takes a step back walking deeper into the room with Irye following her.She watches Irye lock the door behind her and smirk. Her back hit Irye's bed from the steps she takes backwards.
Meanwhile Blake has been calling Irye for sometime now but she is not picking up. Evie had called up to tell him to keep her company with the thought of reconnecting the two.
He drives to her house to check on her since she's alone with step sisters. He's seen a quarrel between Irye and Mirabel before.
"I thought Evie said she's home"he thinks as he knocks on the door for the third time. His instincts tell him to try opening it.
"Well I don't think this is gonna work though"he tells himself as he holds the door knob."Here goes nothing"he turns it down and pushes the door.
Surprisingly, the door opens. You could guess who didn't close the door well. He enters looking around. He marvels at how classic it looks inside.
Walking to the living room and brushing his fingers gently on the couch,he looks up at the bright chandelier.
He comes from the living towards the lazy chair at the far right of the door.
"Irye"he calls looking at the drawing on the flower vase on the semi round table occupied with newspapers.
"You guys are the bane of my happiness"he hears faintly."You come to destroy everything in my life." The voice continues and he wonders if it's Irye's.
"Irye? Are you home?"he calls out looking up the stairs.
No one answers and he frowns a little.
Did Evie trick him into coming there? He walks to the stairs and stands there contemplating on whether he is trespassing even though he's already done that.
He turns away from the stairs to walk then turn again and sighs.
"Irye, are you....."he gets interrupted by a loud squeak and before he could think he runs up the stairs to the direction it came from.
