Chapter 20

"What is happening?"Evie thinks to herself with widen eyes.

Her cousin's eyes are black, not the aquarium blue she knows. She takes a step back out of fright.

Irye stares at her and as if she is checking her out,she turns her head from right to left.

Still quivering from all that's happening, Bethel cries in pain. She feels as her lower half is tearing apart.

Irye keeps on pulling with eyes on Evie.

She begins planning on what to do with her. Whether she should add her to her target.

"Irye, this is not you. Calm down and we can talk about this."Evie says with a shaky voice.

She tries to come closer to Irye but her eyes warn her to stay right there. Evie is stuck between calling the others and solving it on her own.

"No, Mae will make a fuss about this if I call them up."she thinks shaking her head."If I try getting closer, it will be dangerous."

Irye, having an internal battle let out a tear. She wants to tell Evie to help her but she can't. That thing in her shuts her everytime she tries to make a communication. All that's left is to leave it to fate. She's becomes helpless, fighting because that thing doesn't allow her to herself no matter how she tries.

Evie breathes steadily trying to gain her focus then an idea strikes her. Blake should be able to stop this. He's been with her for sometime now. It's no doubt that he knows something to do to calm Irye down.

She looks around finding Irye's phone but realizes it's on the floor near Irye's feet. Apparently Bethel drops the phone out of complete surprise and fear.

How would she get near it now, Irye's eyes are on her but if she doesn't do something, her cousin will be named a murderer and a monster. She has to act fast.

Heck with that, she has Blake's number on her phone and it's way easier to get away from trouble.

She runs down the stairs and abruptly stops in front of the her family who now have all their eyes on her.

She swallows and closes her eyes,avoiding their stares and keeping away them away from asking questions.

She rushes to the place she was sitting and takes her phone and runs back hurriedly.

Because she's always been the dramatic kind of girl, the family just brush it off and continue watching their show.

In relief, Evie enters Irye's room where her piled up worries are.

Bethel is now on the floor whimpering and Irye squats beside her tapping her shoulder with her index finger.

"Tsk tsk this is why you shouldn't mouth out anything nonsense."Irye's fingers now caressing Bethel's eyes gently.

"Next should be your eyes"she sighs. "You were considered because she keeps nagging and crying foolishly. Why won't she just shut the heck up. Am trying to do my job here."Irye or the other her says.

She sits the weak Bethel up. Bethel has lost the strength to fight as her mind is intruded by the immense pain she is feeling.

Irye knocks on Bethel's closed eye and licks her lips. She readies herself to pull out Bethel's eyes. Her fingers on Bethel's right eye pressing in while her other hand keeps the struggling Bethel down.

She stops suddenly at a voice. Like a factured robot, she can't decide on what she should do. She presses her fingers in and pulls back going back and forth.

She curses and stands up glaring at Evie who's holding up her phone.

"Irye, listen to me.You can do this.Fight it"Blake says on the phone.

Evie had video called him and he sees what happened.

"Remember your loved ones, they aren't waiting to see this. They want to see the real you. The loving you"Blake continues.

Irye begins walking towards Evie twitching her head as if a loud sound is been played right in her ears.

Tears in her eyes,Irye stops midway, shaking.Her eyes changing rapidly from black to aquarium. Her breath hastens and her face giving off anger and changing to sadness and helplessness.

She continue her steps with her eyes now black and an expression of fury.

"Irye. We are all here waiting for you. Can you come to us? Those who love and cherish you. Let your anger slide and free yourself."Blake speaks again seeing Irye changing to her dark side.

"Remember your wish? You wanted to be together with your loved ones laughing and cherishing how beautiful nature is. Don't be a monster who would be locked up in darkness."

Evie steps back when she feels Irye closer to her. She is scared but still hopes greatly that her friend will come back to her.

She wells up, biting her lower lip and shutting her eyes from keeping her tears fall. Her tears manage to escape and covers her mouth to stop sounds from coming out.

"Come back Irye"Evie mutters. "Please"her begging and teary eyes look at Irye.

Suddenly Irye falls to the floor having a seizure. Evie let's go of her phone and bends down close to her, shaking her.

"Hey Irye"Evie taps her cheeks."Wake up. Don't scare me"she puts her ears to Irye's nose checking if she is breathing and sighs in relief.

"What's wrong Evie? Is she alright?."Blake asks on the phone lying on the floor. "Talk to me"

Evie manages to pull Irye to her bed and lay her down.

The line cuts mistakenly when Evie tries to pull Irye to her bed and Blake becomes worried not hearing anything from her.

He paces in his room thinking of running to Irye's house but rethinks carefully that it will be suspicious if Irye can't see him.

After musing for a long time he decides to go there. At least Evie can talk to him and tell him what's happening. He takes his jacket and storms out.

After tacking Irye in bed, Evie comes out and sits with the family as if nothing's happened.

Gerrard stares at her for some moment while the others think of her little fidgetiness as another dramatic scene.

He concludes something's wrong. First with her rushing to take her phone. Maybe she does that usually but it's because she needs it that moment but Evie's face expression for that split second before she changes bothers him.

Evie is carefree and wouldn't act weird when she's just coming for her phone.

He rethinks of Evie's first face expression before she changes and it was something like fear and worry.

He looks at Evie once again and notices how uneasy she is in the sofa.

The bell rings and Evie stands up to open the door. The tension around her is too heavy, she needs something distracting though her abrupt standing up catches her family's attention.

Gerrard begins feeling suspicious about her as he watches her open the door and goes out closing the door behind.

Why would she go out instead of bringing the person in? There's is something going on. These run through his mind.

"Why did you come here?"Evie whispers. "My family is in there.

"You think I don't know?"Blake asks."I called you many times but you didn't answer."

Evie recalls the last time she was with the phone and hits her head.

"It's upstairs. I forgot it there"she tells Blake.

"That's not important now. Tell me.. how is she?" Blake asks.

Evie keeps quiet and Blake who couldn't wait asks again,this time a bit detailed.

"How is Irye? She collapses and am getting worried."

"Who collapsed?"Gerrard asks walking in."Is something wrong with Irye?"

The two stand still with a surprised face.
