Chapter 25

At the McVenus house where the sun is up bright and fresh wind blows, Irye paces in her room.

"Then what I saw wasn't an illusion"She looks at Evie. "It was her ghost".

"Ghost?"Evie asks teasingly. "Seriously...you want me to believe you saw a ghost."she smiles.

"Ghost exist?"Evie chuckles. "Okay serious...you gotta bring up with something more convincing."

"Why not?"Irye rolls her eyes."I mean my eyes turn black and I become different so why aren't there ghost?"

Evie laughs out loud seeing Irye roll her awkward black eyes.

"Really.. don't ever do that again...I mean ever"she giggles making Irye chuckles.

"But let's get serious here"Irye says wipng off her smile. "Crazy things happen...I swear I saw her ghost". Her eyes warn Evie not to dare giggle.

"Okay am gonna believe you"Evie says.

"But don't lock yourself up again...we got worried and find something to eat"Evie warns her but felt kind of strange.

Irye always has the upper hand when she changes but it seems she is the one rather ordering Irye right now. So that she won't hear anything frightening, she leaves.

Later that night, Irye calls Evie up using the phone. Evie enters her room and sees Irye with her back facing the door.

Evie tilts her head a little to the left, taking little steps forward. She wonders if Irye's personality has changed like her eyes, that she is now the other her.

"Irye?"She calls. Taking another step forward, she calls Irye again but all she hears is a mutter.

She stops when she is a little near the bed, cautious of Irye's unpredictable actions. But then Irye called her up, she wouldn't do that if she really has changed right. A thought crosses get mind.

Suddenly, Irye turns around and Evie jumps back out of fear. Irye's eyes are still black and Evie–not her fault–unconsciously protects herself.

"Don't worry, am not hurting you"Irye assures Evie." From the way you acted, am guessing my eyes haven't changed their color yet..am I right?"

Evie cocks her head forward checking if this isn't a trick to lure her towards Irye.

Then again, if Irye really has changed, she wouldn't play tricks but rather just go on and do what she wants to do.

"Do you think I will really sit here looking at you if I really am not me?"Irye questions.

Evie, a bit convinced, takes a few more steps to the bed. What Irye says is true though. She will not just sit there idle if she really is not the normal self.

"Why are they still black?"Evie is curious.

"I don't know Evie. Even still when I looked in the mirror, that same person is looking at me."Irye answers.

"Then is it going to be like this forever?"Evie seriously asks.

"I don't know" Irye shrugs. "Am getting scared here Evie. What if it never goes and I get stuck like this. I can't afford to go through people calling me a freak and staring at me all over again."

Evie sits on the bed and hugs her.

"It's alright."She rubs her back."We'll find a solution to it. Let's find a solution first okay?"

Irye nods and breaks from the hug.

"What will I do without you?"she smiles at Evie.

"As if"Evie scoffs. "You have Blake to take care of you."Evie teases and Irye guilty smiles, feeling bad for ignoring Blake.

"But what if it's still there tommorow?" Irye asks, pointing at her eyes.

"Can't you make it go?" Evie asks. "It always goes after you calm down or...or..." a thought strikes her. "Blake...Blake can make it go. He did it the last time too."she suggests.

"Yeah but am not angry or feeling any way moody."Irye says. "I don't think it will work".

"Sleep for today. If it doesn't change by tomorrow, then we call Blake."Evie tells her. "We don't want to disturb him...it's late."

Irye nods. Even if Blake cares deeply for her, she can't afford to worry him this late. Evie tells Irye she will sleep together with her that night. They both chit chat on the bed and put themselves to sleep by watching a movie.

Its been a week and Irye has been staying in her room all the time. Her eyes have not changed back yet and she is becoming worried she won't see the sun again.

She avoids everyone in the house and doesn't open her door to anyone else except Evie.

Calls to Blake have done nothing so far. No matter how much Blake tries, he can't make Irye's eye color change back and this is making the three worried.

Since Irye allows only Evie in, the family think it's best if they talk to her through Evie. They still seem to think Irye is stressed over her mother's death so since Evie is more closer to her than they are, she should be the best option.

It will be exams week soon and Irye has to go school. How will she go when her eyes are still black and what if she looses it in school and shows her other hidden self to her classmates.

She sighs to herself while she prepared for school. She has to wear dark glasses on those eyes having a blue eye contacts on them.

What a stress this is to her but she has to side with that till term over before she decides what yo do next.

She puts on her bag and drives to school.
