Past Encounters

"I killed her."The words resound in Irye's ears. She looks at Sam not sure if she hate him or not.

"I couldn't let her repeat what she did years back. So I had to kill her if that's what it'll take to save my son."Sam continues anyways.

Irye jumps back to reality after Sam speaks. Something catches her attention. Some particular words.

"What do you mean by repeat what she did?"Irye mutters unconsciously, a bit loud enough to hear. "What happened years back?" This time, she asks boldly.

"I thought you'd have known by now. I will tell you anyways."Sam says.

The others prepare themselves for some more shocking news.

"It's not her first time trying to kill her child. The first time was a success though."Sam begins.

"Which child again?"Grams interrupts. "Isn't Irye her first child? Was there another before Irye?"

"Yes, Irye is her first but there was another aside Irye."Sam answers.

"Who's? Richard's?"Grams asks, confused.

"You are not making any sense."Mae speaks for the others.

"Will you please let me continue?"Sam asks, glaring at Mae. "There's not much time you know? We must stop her before she plans a comeback."

They keep quiet and Blake takes in a deep breath, contemplating whether he should listen to their family secrets or leave them till they are done talking.

On one hand, he decides to leave but then he wants to understand the past of the girl he loves. Well, his final decision is to stay.

"Irye isn't only the first child. There were twins. Technically, Irye is the youngest since she came second. Her sister was the first."Sam tells what the family have been waiting to hear.

Irye controls her breath. She has dreamt of it but wasn't certain it'd be true. She considers it just an illusion. Now that everything is sinking in, she doesn't know what to do.

"She killed your sister"Sam says looking at Irye. "And disguising it as an accident, she told the doctors not to tell the family, adding a huge amount of money to keep it secret. The doctors not knowing the real truth behind, they agree."

He pauses because of a sound. A shaky voice, you tell was on the verge of breaking down. Irye's eyes are teary and she is shaking.

What she had dreamt of wasn't just a dream after all. Somehow, she saw the whole truth about her mother. She hoped it'd not be true, but Sam makes everything clear.

She tries to control her persistent tears banging at her lids. Look at her and you will think she's not crying like herself.

She may be crying because she gets to live while her sister has been killed or maybe she feels guilty to be born by that monster of a mother.

On another hand, it seems she's crying because of relief. At the same time, because she's been remembered of her hidden pain.

She muffles her sound and gives in. Blake tries to comfort her. A flash of black in her eyes as if another person's eyes are right behind hers. The family does not notice.

Sam continues. "You have to stay strong. There are more to what has happened. It's up to Abigail to say it. She is the only who knows everything into depth."

Irye tries controlling herself although the tears fall. She tries not to make any sound while Sam speaks.

"I once asked her why she left Richard and she got angry saying I should never talk about him."Sam says and pauses getting why he is receiving those expressions from his family.

He actually took his brothers wife and there is no excuse for that. Taking a deep breath, he continues. Blake takes Irye's hand in his and caress it gently while she sniffs and nods, confirming she is fine.

"I found out recently that she did that because of Irye. She says there's something about Irye that drove her away from Richard. I guess she is talking of the strong spirit around you."Sam says, bringing his gaze to Irye.

"Strong spirit? Around me?"Irye asks, wiping her tears and sniffing.

"I guess you don't see it but don't you at least feel it."Sam asks.

"I don't feel anything. I just feel...occupied. As if I have no space around me."Irye replies.

"It's called heaviness."Sam corrects. "You feel a strange heaviness around you like you are not alone."

"At times but I don't take any seriously. It's only when I change that I feel small."Irye admits.

"I guess only spirits see it. You, right now, are two. I see you and another person. You are somehow faded and the clearer picture of you is actually not you. Another girl's face is much clearer than yours. I guess that's why Abigail doesn't show any mercy when fighting you. She sees the face of the other girl much more than yours. Your sister has always been with you Irye, always."Sam explains everything.

"She lives within you. She shares your emotions with you."The words come out of Irye's mouth. The exact words her mother said to her.

They turn to her. Evie's mouth is open from the shock. She remembers that phrase. She heard from somewhere those words.

"That is what my mother told me."Irye says, looking at Sam.

"She must have shown herself to your mom. Your sister might have, since your mom was her killer."Sam interprets.

Everything is coming in order. Irye begins understanding everything bit by bit.

"You need to figure out why she killed your sister in the first place."Sam says.

Right after he says that,a strong wind blows and Irye senses that same strong blood scent and her eyes turn black.

"She's here isn't she?"Sam says and smiles. "She's even late."
