An apprenticeship?

"A blacksmith shop you say?" The man asked me with a surprised look on his face. "Why do you want to know? Do you have a talent for blacksmithing?" He asked me question after question, he had a pleased look on his face when I asked this question.

I replied to the man "yes I do have a talent for blacksmithing."

The man had a happy look on his face while the subordinate was very surprised. The man look at me and said: "Hello my name is Noah from the house of Sebis owner of Sebis city."

"Hello, Noah my name is Jack." I responded but his subordinate didn't like the way I addressed Noah so he said: "It's Lord Noah for you" with an authoritarian tone as he looked down on me with disgust.

Noah was very mad with what the subordinate said so he yelled "GET OUT OF HERE!" In a loud voice full of anger and authority. The subordinate was so scared that cold sweat started dripping down his face as he ran out of the tent but he still gave me a look that could kill as he left.

This didn't escape Noah's eyes when he saw this but said nothing.

Jack looked at Noah and asked "why did you react that way just because you found out that I have the talent of a blacksmith?" to which Noah responded with "Because being a blacksmith is a hard job and those who don't have the most basic talent for it will never be able to make anything other than crude weapons that are brittle and break a lot."

"Is a talent for blacksmith really that rare?"

Noah shook his head and looked at me with a helpless look "no it's just... well forget it. All you need to worry about is making good swords."

I looked at him puzzled "why what's wrong?" Noah looked at me and said, "just forget I said anything. Anyways, you wanted to learn blacksmithing right?"

I nodded my head vigorously and he started laughing "good but, let me warn you. Blacksmithing is a hard job and you need a lot of strength. Your teacher will probably have you do basic strength training before you start your apprenticeship."

"Ok. When can we go?" I asked Noah

"Let's go now to meet your future teacher," Noah said to me with a grin from ear to ear.

Noah yelled to the soldiers outside "prepare a carriage for me and the young lad Jack." The soldier replied in a timely manner "Yes Sir." and left to prepare a carriage.

roughly 5 minutes later the soldier came back and said "lord Sebis the carriage is ready for you and sir Jack." Noah looked at me and smiled and invited me to tag along so I joined him and followed him outside the tent.

As we walked out of the tent I had to squint my eyes and cover the sun with my head from not seeing the sun for several days on end it was bustling outside with what looked like a barracks with around 10-15 different 4-5 story buildings and constant yelling coming from the ones to the left of me.

It was a nice day with very little wind and no storms approaching from the looks of it. As I followed Noah to the carriage I looked around and a lot of different people with wooden swords practicing on the empty field looked at me with envy.

Noah looked around and saw this and yelled "all right you had enough time to check out the new guy who might become a blacksmith, now back off to training after all the orcs might come knocking again tomorrow we must always be prepared."

The people around us looked surprised then even more envy was seen in their eyes including a trace of jealousy and hatred.

I nodded to everyone and got aboard the carriage with Noah. I could still feel their gaze piercing through my every being even as we left the gate surrounding the premise. Noah looked at me and saw how I was worried about them and said "if any one of them tries to bully you just let me know or directly tell them that if you bully me I am to directly report to Noah about this matter and they will most likely stop."

"Ok. Thanks, Noah." I gave a friendly smile.

As we were driving down the bumpy road I heard the voice of children playing and laughing, I relieved a little smile to this scene. Noah caught this and said to me "you have a younger sibling?"

I shook my head "No but, I wish I did." I said that and stopped talking. Noah saw this and didn't further the conversation.

It took about 7 minutes to get from the barracks place to the blacksmith shop.

Noah told me to get out with him and we entered the blacksmith shop. The door opened with a 'ding' from the bell at the top of the door. An older man came through a door from the back and looked at Noah and said "well well well if it isn't the young lord himself" with a scowl. Noah looked at the man and said: "uncle you better behave I brought you a student If you don't want him I will find someone else to teach him."

"sure sure sure, as I believe you, you always lie to me, also when is MY MYTHRIAL ORE coming I have been waiting for 3 WEEKS." the old man looked at Noah and was clearly pissed off. I just hid out of sight out of mind as my eyes wandered around the shop.

There were several different weapons around the shop such as daggers, throwing knives, ax's, hoe's, swords, even some bows every now and then. The old man looked behind Noah and said "hey who are you, are you the kid who claimed to have a talent in blacksmithing?"

I walked forward towards the man in the shop and said "yes I do have a talent for blacksmithing, so I would like to learn from a man such as you after Noah said so many good things about you such as your amazing craftsmanship, how much detail you put into the weapons you make, the level of concentration you have when you work and the pride you have for doing your work."

The old man looked at me and was surprised by what I said, he turned to Noah and said "wow this kid sure knows flattery, I know because you would never say those things about me you would just tell him to 'not piss me off or piss me off as much as you want because you have high hopes for him and it doesn't matter."
