A small trip across the Sea

It's been a couple of days since we left Zagas, and with the help of the compass that Lia bought before we left, I've managed to keep us moving west. I've come to accept that my sense of direction is so bad that I need assistance, but when the hell did she buy that thing? Wasn't I watching her while she was shopping the whole time, just when did she slip that by me?

"Just when did you get your hands on a compass?"

"When I was looting the bodies of the Elves. Anyways that's not important, is it always so boring at sea?"

"Trust me, these past few days with nothing happening are far better than most of the things I've experienced when traversing the ocean. You really don't want to see the true dangers that lay beneath the waves. I am purposely trying to stay areas where the depth isn't too deep. There is a lot of dangerous things in the ocean and I'm sure I haven't even seen most of them. Thankfully, the most dangerous ones are trapped around a certain island."

"I know it's better than having to fight something. I mean if a fight broke out, I'm not sure how long I would be able to hang on to you before being flung off in the middle of a fight. But I can't make any progress in the books I'm reading since I keep getting stomach aches every time I try and read."

"I wouldn't expect sitting on my back to be the most stable ride. Anyway, it's been a few days so I need to rest for a couple of hours. I've used my manipulation to have the currents push me forward and if anything at all shows up then make sure to wake me up immediately."

Resting my eye for a bit I take a small nap so I am well rested for the next few days. But just barely an hour later I am suddenly woken up and feel a strange familiarity with the way the currents are moving, and it's not a good feeling.

"Wake up, Cordelia, there is something strange out in the distance!"

Still feeling a little groggy I look around and see the last thing I want to be seeing right now, instantly clearing my drowsiness. In the distance south of us is a large structure that extends far above the clouds, one I am very familiar with, the Spire of Eon.

"How long has that spire been in view, quick tell me!" I say in a panic, quickly make plans to change our course.

Hearing the worry in my voice, Lia asks, "not long, maybe only a few minutes or so, why? Is it something bad?"

"Ok, not too long. Maybe we will live to see another day." I say while turning around and heading north while doing a 180 and move back the way we came before continuing, "yeah, something really bad will show up if we stay for too long. We need to hurry, I can already feel him approaching!"

My control over the water has weakened a little, but I can still move it around enough to push me a little in the direction I want to go despite his interference. But the waves are gradually getting stronger and stronger with my control over the water getting increasingly weaker. Turning back around, much of the spire has been hidden by the horizon, indicating that we have nearly escaped, but a small portion still remains so I try and pick up the pace but the rough water makes it difficult to go any faster.

"Holy shit! What is that!"

hearing Lia's scream and feeling the pressure raining down on my alongside the giant sprout of water in the air, I do everything I possibly can to move faster. hearing a titanic splash in the distance I turn around to see a semi-transparent barrier stopping the monster that had just jumped from the water. As we are in the north the monster was obviously Cetus and turning around to see him being held back by the barrier we make eye contact as he sticks his tongue out at me before disappearing back beneath the waves.

"... Did that fucking overgrown whale just taunt me!"

he knew damn well that the barrier was going to stop him from doing anything so he decides to taunt me after seeing my reaction.

Despite Cetus not being in sight anymore, I yell "Fuck you!"

"Just what was that thing just now? I tried to use my Investigate on it a couple of times, but each attempt failed."

"That was the monster that roams around the northern waters that surround the Isle of Eon on the north side. He is also a Legendary monster that is stuck within the confines of the water surrounding the Isle of Eon, Cetus. On the bright side, since we are close to the Isle of Eon, then we should be relatively close to Lausiel."

I can't help but feel as if he really wanted to then Cetus could have just killed us. But I get the feeling that we were purposely let go and he just tried to scare us. That old rabbit must have said something to him. Damn, I even know they are using me for their own purposes but the requirements for our goals align so I don't mind too much, but did the shitty whale really have to go out of his way to scare me like that. Once I get the chance and am sufficiently strong enough, I should look for an opportunity to do him in.
