"According to the map, there should be a town in the surroundings." Aelya said after they walked for a few minutes.
After the forest, they went through a few hills before discovering a road and decided to follow it. If there was a road, there should be NPC, or at least ruins, which was interesting in the two cases.
"Milady Aelya, is it normal that we didn't meet any other player since the beginning?" Edwyn finally asked finding this loneliness a little bit odd.
"Everyone rushed together when the server opened. The actual average player is level 5 so consider that we are late. However, they're gonna slow down quite a lot in a few days."
"Why? Is there some sort of threshold to overcome?"
Aelya nodded.
"You can call it this way. In order to leave the first zone and access to the real content of the game, you will have to clean a 5-players dungeon. From what i've heard, it's pretty hard."
"How do you know all of this?" Edwyn asked, impressed.
"I know some people and informations are the most valuable resources in a game!"
Edwyn nodded. It was an interesting fact that Aelya knew a lot of people but still choose to play alone. He wondered what sort of players they were. As good as her? Better? or weaker like him?
"Milady Aelya, you told me earlier something about the craft system. Could you explain to me how it works?"
"As you may know, in each game items are divided between different group, according to their strength and rarity. From lower to higher it's "common", "rare", "epic", "legendary" and "handmade". The last one being a little bit different. They are not necessarily the best, however handmade items would be more suitable for players because you can choose their stats."
"That's seems pretty good. How does it works?" Edwyn was quite interested as it was a new feature in a MMORPG. Usually you had to wear the best items you could find, even if it wasn't exactly what you needed.
"As the name imply, a handmade item must be crafted by a player, following a specific blueprint, that' what you looted on the wild boss earlier. However, to be able to craft an item, you need a job and that's where things become interesting. A job replace your class, and you can have a total of two job. It means that if you were a warrior and decided to become a Blacksmith, you won't be able to fight anymore."
"Isn't that a little bit... too extreme? The system oblige you to choose between fight and craft!" Edwyn was astonished, that was another new feature!
"Indeed, that what the game designers wanted. If you become a blacksmith, you won't be able to gain experience point but you'll be the one who will be needed to craft a handmade item."
"That's a different way of playing this game then."
"Exactly, and that's why each big guild has her own crafting department. However there is also some freelance worker. Moreover, a city or a town is the only place where you can change your class to a job."
"That's why we are looking for a town?"
Aelya nodded.
"You said earlier that we can choose our own caracteristic on a handmade item, how does it work?"
"Resources. Each of the ingame resource possess specific caracteristic, by combining them you get the stats you want."
"What about the core then? Why did you told me to get it?"
"A core is a very valuable resource. Each handmade weapon that you craft can give you a spell, and this spell depends on the core you choose to use. The spell is linked to the boss who looted it."
"Then Firwick's core..."
"Will surely gives the weapon a spell like a roar, an aoe spell to deal damages."
Edwyn opened his eyes wide. The possibilities were almost infinite!
