At the bottom of the crevasse, there ware no monsters but a lot of people working together in rhythm, creating their own deafening symphony. A concert of pickaxes hitting the rocks.
It was almost like a fairy tale, minors working on the rock wall to extract ores and soldiers walking among them, watching for any possible threat.
"That is not... what I expected." Edwyn admitted, fascinated by this coordination.
"Take a good look." Wallace said with a bitter smile. "This is the work of Smith & Weapon, they took control of the area."
"It doesn't look good for us." Aelya said while frowning.
"Lets head further away, I doubt they can monopolize all the crevasse." Edwyn said.
As they walked alongside the rock wall, nobody paid us any attention, they were all totally focused on their work.
"They look like bots, not even humans!" Aelya said.
"Those miners are paid according to the amount of ores they can get per days, of course they look like bots." Wallace explained.
"Is that why you left?" Edwyn asked.
"It was part of my complains. I said to them that we shouldn't oblige peoples to work and that each person should work according to their envy and time. They didn't really agree."
"What the use of playing a video game if it means working even harder than in real life? This way of thinking is so twisted that is makes me sick." Aelya said with visible disgust.
"They don't have the choice." Wallace interjected.
"And that's exactly the roots of the problem."
There were no more exchanged words between the two as they walked past the miners to finally approach a new area.
Here they found three fighters standing in guard, looking warrily toward a big rock which seemed to be the boundary of their farm area. On the other side of the boulder, growls and sneeze could be heard.
The three guys let them pass without even a glance and they soon discovered the origin of the noise.
In front of them was a big hallway formed between two rock wall, and all the place was occupied by small and green monsters, wandering around aimlessly.
"Goblins." Aelya spat while catching her axe.
They were as big as a child, with big ears and claw-like fingers. Some of them wore wrap skirts and other had a bit or armor on them. It looked like there were different sort of goblins.
Aelya was about to directly charge the first they saw when Edwyn stopped her.
"Wait a minute please milady Aelya. there's something wrong." He said. "Look at what they are holding."
Indeed, some of them had a strange long and brown object, with a fuse on top of it.
"That's a dynamite." Aelya discovered. "Are you telling me that those goblins only wore wrap skirts but are able to create dynamite? What sort of logic is that?"
Edwyn chuckled.
"Game logic I guess. However we need to be careful. Could you advance slowly toward the nearer? I want to see at which distance he detects you."
Aelya nodded and complied, taking one step after nother while the young boy watched closely. When she was about 15 meters from the goblin, he let out a shrill scream and took a lighter from nowhere to light the dynamite.
"I'm sorry milady but could you take the hit please?" Edwyn asked with a grimace and a sorry look.
Aelya put down her shield and closed her eyes, waiting for the dynamite to be thrown.
The priest didn't miss any detail, it took the monster 2 whole seconds to complete his move before the dynamite made an arc of a circle in the air before touching the young woman.
-40!
The detonation engulfed her in a cloud of flames and the young boy felt a cold grip in his chest.
"Are you ok milady?"
The cloud dispersed after a second and Aelya reappeared, unscathed.
"Of course I am, pretty boy. The damages you take in the game are painless. Or else who would dare to fight a dragon?" She comforted him, smiling.
Edwyn was reassured and came at her side while the goblin took out a second dynamite.
"What are you doing?"
"I want to be sure it's an area damage." He explained.
"Do you need my help or..?" Wallace asked, not knowing what to do since a few minutes.
"Don't need." The answered at the same time without looking at him.
"Fine, I guess i'll find a good place to sit and watch the show then." The blacksmith shrugged.
The second projectile came and this time, each of them took the damages.
Edwyn cast a healing spell on them while making his calculations. It seemed that as long as you stay at range, the goblin would throw dynamites. The monster needed two seconds to light one and then 3 more to throw it. There was one projectile each 5 seconds and each of them dealt 40 damages on a player, whether it was a tank or a heal.
All those informations began to give him an idea.
Aelya was right, information was the most valuable thing in a game.
"Milady Aelya, as your leader, would you follow every decision I would take?" He asked while the young woman was busy giving the goblin a taste of her axe.
She looked at him with an interested expression.
"Of course I would pretty boy. That's why I wanted you to be the leader : to witness your decisions!"
Edwyn wore a blooming smile.
"Then it's time for us to give a good lesson to some guys." Edwyn announced while looking at the three players of the crafter associations.
"Milady, pull three goblins at the same time and run toward those three over there. Once you're close to the healer, use your shield bash on him just before the goblins throw their dynamites and then get ride of the other two with the same tactic."
Wallace suddenly raised his head and looked at Edwyn and Aelya. Were those two really about to attack the crafter association by themselves?!
Aelya nodded. She let out a sigh and run toward a pack of goblins. Each fo them growls when she entered in their range and prepared their lighter. However the young woman already turned back without a pause, obliging them to run after her.
The three soldiers weren't ready at all when they saw a woman coming at them, and they were even less ready when they heard the shrill screams just behind her.
"Be careful!" Their healer yelled, however it was already too late.
Aelya stopped in front of their healer and slam her shield against his face.
[Shield Bash.]
You slam your shield against your enemy, stunning him for 4 seconds and deals him 400% damages of your weapon.
That was the description of the spell she get on the wild boss.
The damages of her weapon were 5, it means she inflicted a -20 to the poor healer and stunned him for 4 seconds.
Just enough time for Aelya to roll on the side and avoid the 3 dynamites launched against her while the poor healer was stuck on site.
"Oups i'm so sorry! I thought you were a goblin too! I can be so clumsy sometimes!" She apologized with an embarrassed smile.
