Chapter 6: No Where To Go

It had been a couple of weeks since Jake lost everything at this time he tried to go back to his parents' house though they did not let him stay there due to them not having a spare room for him to stay in.

For the past 2 weeks, Jake was living in his car, his parents even though they said he could not stay there let him store all his belongings in their garage until he got himself sorted. He did have to sell a lot of his belongings such as his electronics just so he was able to afford essential things.

Luckily his parents let him have dinner with them at their house and would let him leave his car on their driveway when he needed to and also overnight. Jake's dad had also given him his old phone as Jake's phone was of course broken.

Jake was sat in his car one night looking through job adverts applying for everything he saw his dad's old phone was extremely slow which was a pain whilst trying to apply for jobs but he was grateful he even had a phone and access to the internet.

Whilst flicking through the internet just finishing applying for all the jobs he could see that day he decided to load up YouTube to watch some videos before he went to sleep, a video in his recommended caught his eye "10 Weird places to visit around the globe" curious he clicked the video, the number 5 spot in the video intrigued Jake the most.

It was about a random door built within the side of a mountain range near a small secluded village in China, what was weird about this location was that once someone makes the journey out there they have to climb a large staircase and once knocking the door an old heavy set man who was bold and and a small goatee answers saying one thing "not today" then simply closes the door.

Jake found multiple videos of this exact scene with different people knocking on the door, that night Jake spent most of it searching up information about this place finding out exactly where it was in china.

He even went and found out how much it would cost for flights out to china and travel out to this village, Jake was completely engrossed in the information he was finding of the door and the village that he decided he would make the journey out to this door knowing it was no easy feat to achieve but was too interested in it.

Knowing that he was not the most athletic and making a climb up a mountain could be very dangerous for him he decided it was something he wanted to do and if he failed he wouldn't care, with his remaining savings he booked a flight to china knowing he needed to end at Shangri-La airport to be able to catch a ride to the village.

The only thing Jake was not sure on is if he was going to tell anyone about his plans as he knew if he did then they would all be mad at him for wasting his time and money on a stupid reason, knowing this he decided the night before his flight that he would leave his car on his parents' driveway with the keys and a letter in it reading.

"Going away for a while will be back soon"

Jake called for a taxi to take him to the airport carrying with him a few essential things for the journey, a few changes of clothes, his phone, and wallet with enough money to get him home and to live off whilst he is away.

Whilst on the journey to the airport Jake was checking through his planned route knowing the car he hired to take him to the village could only get him so far he had to plan a route over the mountain range to the village.

He was extremely nervous getting on the plane sitting down he kept going over his planned route as there was not much else to do on the flight over to china, at each stop Jake would rush to each one of his connecting flights and getting what sleep he could get on each flight it, it was an incredibly long flight but Jake had made it to his destination his next plan was to catch his ride to the village.
