Chapter 30: The War

Jake arrived home and got some rest as he had still not slept since his fight with Zenos but then he received a call from Harry

Harry: Yo Jake what's up?

Jake: Nothing much really just got home, what's up?

Harry: Well I need to speak to your real quick, mind meeting me at the pub?

Jake not knowing what he would want to talk about

Jake: Yeah sure, I'll be there in a bit

Jake grabbed his keys and made his way to the pub, as he arrived he saw Harry sat at a table on his own looking down at his phone.

Jake: Sup, so what did you want to talk about

Harry: Well it's about this

Harry then turned his phone around showing Jake a picture he took from the other night, In this picture, it showed Jake at an ATM with Lez next to him.

Jake: I have no idea what I'm looking at here

Harry: What's that about?

Harry then pointed at the screen of the ATM that displayed Jakes's balance.

Jake: Ah, Well

Harry: So, what the fuck is that about?

Jake sighed and had no idea what to say, he thought it would be a lot longer until someone found out about his money.

Jake: Well I guess I can't hide it anymore

Harry: How did you get that much money?

Jake: It's a long and boring story, basically I found some old gold coins when I was travelling which I sold

Harry looked slightly annoyed with the story

Harry: That's it, you found it

Jake: I told you it's boring, now please don't tell anyone

Harry: Well sure, it's going to cost you though

Jake sighed

Jake: How much?

Harry: two hundred thousand

Jake: Sure, I'll give it to you later, now I need to get back home

Harry: Been good talking

Jake: Yeah whatever

Jake made his way back home and got the rest he needed.

Meanwhile, the Demon who had seen Jake fight had landed back where the rest of the demons were staying, Djynn the Demon who watched the fight approached Valac, who was sat upon his new throne he had made from the debris from the town they had just destroyed.

Djynn: Zenos has been captured, sir

Valac: What? How is that so?

Djynn: He was defeated by someone with blue flames

This angered Valac and he sent out a huge explosive attack towards a hill completely destroying it.

Valac: Djynn, have you built your strength up yet?

Djynn: Yes sir, I know I can kill him

Valac: Good now leave me

Djynn nodded then took off heading towards Jake.

Valac: Zoli come here

Zoli bounced towards him

Zoli: Yes sir

Valac: Follow him, get involved if anything bad happens

Zoli: Of course sir

She then took off following behind Djynn at a distance.

Valac was now alone in the town, knowing if they don't come back then Jake will be too strong to take down on his own.

He knew he needed to get his strength back and to become even stronger than that as he knew the full power of the blue flames because he had seen them first hand in the war.

Back in the war Valac and his brother were facing off against the Angels, Valac was in charge of the frontline troops sending them in against the Angels, and the battles were long with many casualties on both sides but seemed to favour the Demons as the kept gaining ground on the Angels.

Valac and his army managed to kill hundreds of Angels almost taking them all out.

That was until a single man approached the full Demon frontline and wiped them all out using one attack, Valac being in the middle of this attack managed to get away but sustained huge damage with massive burns on the left side of his face.

The man who wiped out the Demons frontline used these blue flames that seemed to burn hotter and attacked more aggressively.

To this day Valac knew to avoid the blue flames.

Valac had still not possessed anyone as he could gain more strength this way, he knew he would have to possess someone when he is at full strength to be able to battle Jake.

The way Demons possessions work is a very tasking job for the Demons to actually accomplish, as they need to get permission from the host for them to enter their body, Demons made this task easier by offering the host power or riches, as the humans they possess are usually greedy and want anything the Demons offer them.

Demons usually find the hosts that are the most desperate such as the poor or the ones who have just been through hard times, for example for the case of Zenos's host he had just been through a major divorce and Zenos offered him any woman he desired even showing him what he could offer with illusions

Once his host agreed to their terms Zenos possessed him, replacing the host's soul with himself, the host's soul, however, is not destroyed or removed, they share the body but the Demon has full control and puts what's left of the host under a trance.

Valac had that exact plan to take control over an immortal but would need one of them to give him their permission which would never happen, the only option was the new guy which was Jake hoping he would be stupid enough to accept him.
