Chapter 51: The Research Team

Jake was at work and as it was quiet he was on his phone checking his social media when something caught his eye, a news article about a team of researchers that had gone missing in Antarctica, it was not the team that made him interested in the article.

It was the images that were linked to it, images showed a cave that was covered in etchings of Angels and Demons battling, as he read through the article he found out what happened to the team, how they were brutally killed.

Jake intuitively knew that this must have been the work of a demon but how, the only demon he knew it could have been was the Demon King himself, but why has he only just shown up now, Jake decided that he needed to know more about this.

The problem was he was still at work and still had about seven hours left before he could leave, wanting to get back to the monastery to learn more about the Demon king Jake started to become anxious.

Some of his co-workers started to notice Jake as he kept looking up at the clock and back towards the computer screen.

Dan: Need to be somewhere Jake?

Jake: …

Ashley: You know Jake you can talk to us, no need to always be quiet

Jake: I'm just looking forward to finishing work

Jake then answered the phone and continued working as his colleagues continued to try and talk to him, Jake would usually just ignore them but he decided to talk to them to try and get his mind of the monastery.

His shift was about to end as he looked back up at the clock, realising he would be able to leave excited Jake as he rushed out the building and turned the alley, Jake told his colleagues that he walked home but really he would just get out of sight then teleport away.

Jake teleported into the monastery and made his way directly towards the library knowing he was going to need to see Gabrielle, as he entered the room he saw most of the masters sat at a table, Jake walked up to the table.

Jake: Do you have any information about the Demon king?

Shocked of his intrusion Gabrielle looked up at him

Gabrielle: Of course we don't, why?

Jake: Damn

Jake walked away from the table and towards the bookshelves looking for any book that was labelled Demon.

Jake: Surely, we came across something

Gabrielle walked over to him

Gabrielle: What exactly is this about?

Jake: Recently in the news, I think the Demon king has made himself known

Gabrielle looked towards Taka with a concerned look, as she did Taka left the library

Eucliffe: What exactly has happened?

Jake threw his phone with the open article towards him.

Jake: Just read through that, it was not human that killed them

They all gathered around as Eucliffe scrolled through the article showing some graphic images of the scenes in the cave.

Gabrielle: But why now?

Jake: That's exactly my thou… Where did Taka go?

Gabrielle: He just popped out I think

Jake: What are you guys hiding?

Gabrielle looked nervous and started to walk away.

Gabrielle: Nothing

Jake: What is it you know about the Demon king?

Gabrielle: Nothing we have not seen him in years

Jake: How many years?

Gabrielle: …

As Jake stood up Taka re-entered the room.

Taka: Jake I have an idea, why don't you ask the other demons for some information

Jake: Wait, we can do that?

Gabrielle: Well yes, of course, we can

Jake: Alright then

Jake placed the book he was holding and placed it back on the shelf and started to make his way out of the room whilst grabbing his phone out of Eucliffe's hand.

Jake, Taka and Gabrielle made their ways down the staircase and into the huge room, heading down the corridor towards where the Demons were held, as he entered the place with the doors he started to hear them shouting.

Take: This is pretty much all they do

Gabrielle: It's the reason we keep them down here

Jake: So, which one is Valacs room

Gabrielle: second one on the right, he has been quiet though

Jake made his way down the corridor and opened the door entering the room and closing it behind him.
