Traitor

Previously:

The Magic King announced to the people of Clover Kingdom was a group of terrorists who were anti-Clover. They were called the Midnight Eye.

He reassured people that the magic knights would get everything covered and not to fret. They would solve this issued and not stand down. The public full heartedly supported this.

The announcement ended without any issues.

Hikaru POV

I headed over to the castle, to meet with Julius. The issue of Midnight sun is troubling. I knock and enter his office.

"Hikaru, close the door." Julius says as I enter. I close the door and make my way over to the desk. "Julius there's something that you want to discuss yes?" I ask knowing he wants to talk about the terrorist group.

He nods and tells me to sit down. "The barrier mages were no where to be found and hasn't been seen. So during this attack they were gone, and the only way for that to happen..." I continue his sentence "If there was traitors.." We both look grimly at each other.

We gets up and leads me down towards the interrogation room. It was dark and the only thing lighting up the basement was the magic that held the captives. "Sir Julius, it appears that they have some magic casted on them which prevents me from checking their memories and getting information." Marx says. The captives talk how their master is some kind of god.

My face scrunches together in disgust. I look at them and wonder a way to get that information... As the thought enters my mind I look at Julius and he looks at me. We both smile knowing our answer...

A couple hours later there was a call from a town about children going missing. They sent Yami out first sending him to go and investigate. Word hasn't been received by Yami, the magic headquarters send a couple magic captains as back up in case something has gone wrong.

I walk around the castle doing little assignments that Julius has tasked me with gathering information here and there, while we wait for Asta.

I get this feeling that I should go but something else tells me that it's better for me to stay back here. I follow my gut and walk off into the halls heading towards Julius' office.

Time Skip~

Marx left me with Lance 30 minutes ago as we walked down the halls. He went to go get Asta and Yami. I make my way to the conference room, to get the Magic captains. I looked serious as I was walking. 'The traitor will be found out. I'll crush you!' I think. I feel a light tug at my clothes and see Lance nervous.

I stop and ask him "What's wrong Lance?" he shakes him head and says "Well mom, we are going to meet the magic captains that you told me about. They're strong but some of them look scary. Nothing like Gadjah and Potrof." I smile at him warmly and pet his head. "It'll be okay. It's just for a short while okay." He smile back at me "Okay Hikaru." he says. I smile again knowing that he will only call me that when other people he doesn't know will be around and uncomfortable with.

We finally reach the door and I hear them talking. I then hear Yami yelling about something. I knock on the door and announce my presence. I then open the door and smile at the Captains as I enter the room with Lance hugging my clothes. I see Yami standing up yelling something about Julius calling them there.

I raise my hand. "Hey Yami!" I say catching their attention. "Huh Vice Cap. that old man better not be wandering around and forgotten." he says while noticing Lance hug me even tighter. They all look at me for the answer.

"Ah he hasn't. I came here to get you all. He says sorry for the wait. They had to set something up." I say with a serious face at the end. "Now lets go shall we." I open the door again and head out of the room, I start leading them down to the dungeon. Then the newer captain breaks the silence "Umm...Excuse me miss. Who are you?" Rill asks. I turn around and smile at him.

"Ah I don't think we've meet. I'm Hikaru Novachrono, I used to be in the Grey deers which is now your squad. It's nice to meet you." I tell him. His eyes sparkle at my nice reply. "Ah nice to meet you Hikaru-san. I'm Rill Boismoiter. Are you perhaps related to Sir Julius?" I glance over to see some of the captains give him a look.

"Yes, I'm his sibling to be exact his little sister." I tell him. He shouts "Wow that's so cool!" I chuckle.

We continue to walk down the stair case till Yami decides to break the silence once more. "Yo Vice Cap. Why's that kid holding on to you and coming with us?" He asks the question that they all been wondering for a while.

"Oh sorry, Yami. I forgot to introduce him. This is Lance, it's fine he'll be coming with us. Julius gave permission but he'll be standing outside of the room as we get started." I look over at Lance. "Lance that's Yami and the rest of the magic captains." I gester him to say hi. He waves shyly.

The captains continue to stare at Lance and he gets nervous again and holds me tighter. Yami raises his brow and Charlotte then looks over at me. "He was at the ceremony as well. Who is he exactly?" she asks.

I understood what she meant. I see that we were getting closer to our destination and decide to say something as the captains look at me expectantly. "He's a new member of the family. I'll tell you more and introduce you guys formally later on. We have reached our destination." I open the door and allow the captains to enter.

I squat down and pat Lance's head. "I'll be inside there, stay out here for a while. If anything stay close to the wall away from the door, okay?" I tell him. He nods and lets go of me as I enter and close the door.

'Know let's find the traitor shall we.' I say to myself and close the door sending Julius a look for him to begin.

I look to see Asta, I guess that have already solved a part of it. "Now what do you need magic king?" Will asks. I narrow my eyes.

Julius replys with "Yes, several things. With the help of Asta and Marx. I suppose this is the top one." he sticks up one finger and smiles at them. I stand in front of the door blocking the exit. "I've learned that there is a traitor among you, who is working with the midnight eye." Julius finishes as the Captains looked shocked and look around at each other.

"So could you kindly tell me, which one of these captains are the traitor who aided the Eye of Midnight sun... Now tell me their name." Julius says sternly. I watch the captains intently. The captives speak up. "Its...The Captain of Purple Orcas. Gueldere Poizot."

The captains looks shocked and Gueldere denys this "Impossible! What are you talking about! They're terrorists and you believe what they are saying. I would never betray clover!"

"I hate to say this but there are some dark rumors about you" Charlotte says. Nozel steps in "It's just not a few but many."

"Apparently they weren't false." Charlotte says and all the captains look at him.

Gueldere is flustered and says "No they are just trying to blame me!" and points to them. No its impossible hey are telling the truth, they are telling what they know."

"Calm down ham. Why not let mushroom head look at your memories. If you are really clean that is." Yami says. I smirk.

They converse a bit and I step forward. "So it really was you! Because of you Captain Fuegoleon was.." Asta says. I grit my teeth and take a step closer.

"No I'll clear my name. I'll make a retreat! This is strategic retreat." Ham cries out. I am now directly behind him as he pulls out his grimoire.

"Strategic retreat? Huh." He quickly opens his grimoire and starts to say the spell ignoring my words. "Well sorry about that retreat but you won't be going any where." With that I kick him sending him flying across the room. I then take out my grimoire. "Wind spirits: Binding chains." I bind him to the wall and walk over to him. "I'll be taking this." I send him a sadistic smile and take his grimoire.

"Invisible Magic: Invisible knights." He summons his spell with his grimoire still in my hand. His knight comes running at me and spreads across the room attacking the captains. I tch and hear "Invisible magic: greatest invisible magician!" he dispersal out of my chains.

I hear Charlotte "Damn his magic, lets him be invisible for a certain amount of time and none of our magic will be useful."

He makes his way out the door. I destroy the knight that came at me. I run out along with Asta. I turn around and hear "Mom!" I yell back. "Stay there, I'll be back I need to get something!"

I run up the stairs quickly and feel his presence. I kick him and he goes flying out of the building. Asta then runs after him and hits him with his sword, nullifying his magic.

Geuldere cats his knights again and sends Asta flying back. I then open my grimoire.

"Wind and Earth Spirits: Chained enclosure." This spell was my strongest binding spell that had a mix of earth and wind chains binding him.

I walked up to him and grab the end of the chain tightening it. I kneel down and say "Gueldere, I told you. You're not getting away." I then get up and place my foot on him. "If you dare try to get up and escape again, then that'll be the end of you."

"Ah Hikaru-san!" I hear and turn around to face Rill with his pallet out. Then a 'bam' and rocks go flying from the entrance. "How dare you go easy on him." I hear Nozel says. I then hear Rill speak up "But if we did then the building would have been destroyed. I see the rest of the captains standing on the rubble.

They each say something of beating Gueldere up and being a magic captain.

"Friends I beleive that is enough. Maybe someone is controlling him with magic." Will steps forward.

"My I'm glad you were all here. I can't tone down my magic after all." Julius says as he walks over to us, with Lance behind him.

I turn to Gueldere and plant the chains down into the ground keeping him there. I walk over to Julius.

As I'm walking I hear "Hey! You were amazing earlier!" from Rill talking to Asta. As I get closer Lance removes himself from Julius and runs towards me. "Sorry about that Lance, that must've been scary." i say to him. He shakes his head. "No it's fine. It was kind of cool seeing you and the others in action..." he says while scratching his cheek.

'Ahh so cute!' I smile at him and hug him.

"Now Gueldre I have some questions for you." I hear Julius say. We take him back down to interrogate him. "So all that you've said is true?" Julius asks the brainwashed ex captain.

"Yes." he responds back.

"Man that's quite a list. Abusing squad members, embezzling funds , selling national magic items in the black market, and smuggling in dangerous magic weapons from other countries." Yami says.

The rest of the captains discuss his doing and how he has aided with the eye of midnight sun.

"This is an unparalleled blunder. A magic knight tasked to helping out clover citizens but ended up selling them away. In order to keep the citizens from panicing we will keep this matter private. To make sure this never happens again make sure you check your squad members for anything that may have to do with the enemy." Julius says

They salute and say "Yes sir." The magic captains leave and have Asta and Yami stay behind. I tag along with them.

"Sorry for making you stay here you two. It's truely sad to be betrayed by comrades who have fought along side with. I have gotten to my position at full speed but as a result I have made mistakes."

"If that's the reason you have called us here, then you got the wrong fellas." Yami says.

"Actually they told us one more thing when they we were integrating. Asta do you remember the stone tablet back at their base, when you were taken by them. they call the stones embedded magic stones. They believe that with all of them collected then they will be reborn as their true selves. Apparently they went after Fuegoleon because he had the stone that they wanted." Julius says.

I look and listen to them intently. "We must not let them get any more stones." "So and?" Yami replies back. "There are three more stones left and we know one of the locations."

"Oh and where's that?" Yami asks. "In a strong magic temple, The underwater temple." Julius replies.

Asta asks what it is and Yami squeezes the poor boys head. I take it to explain. "The underwater temple is a strong magic regions as the name suggests that are regions that have strong magic.where it has all strange types of phenomena that happen, which prevents others form entering. It is said to be extremely dangerous."

"So you want us to get there before the eye of midnight does?" Yami assumes. "Yes that is right. This is a very important mission , your the best squad for the job, which has lots of of members who aren't bound by any family or social status. There still may be traitors in the magic knights... Will you do it" Julius informs Yami.

"Well I mean if it's orders from the magic king. Than order us. As a captain, you're definetly right that their is nothing holding me back. " Yami says.

Yami POV

I think of the time here, I have nothing holding me back. I have nothing, nothing changes the fact that I'm a foreigner, even though I got my grimoire. All those words of negativity.

Well that's what I thought....

"Wow! That's dark magic isn't it!" a random man comes running up to me. "That's amazing I haven't seen it before! Hey, hey, hey! Let me take a better look at it!"

I respond with "No. Who the heck are you old man."

The man stands up straight "Ahh no one suspicious. Just a magic knight captain who is wandering around in disguise." "Ah what's a magic knight?" I ask him.

I girl that appears my age comes up from behind him wearing the same cape as him. She whacks him head. "What have I told you about running off like that! We have to leave soon." she say and he whines in response.

She then looks over at me and smiles warmly. 'What's this feeling?' "I'm sorry about him. I hope he didn't disturb you to much." she tells me. I reply with ""Its fine, this old man didn't bother me to much." he responds back."

The old man now stands up straight bringing his hands down from his head. "My name is Julius Novachrono and I'm a magic knight. You have strong and unique magic. You should come and join the magic knights. We would love to have another strong magic knight." he tells me.

The girl next to him speaks up again "My name is Hikaru Novachrono, I'm his little sister. Also a magic knight. If you are interested in joining the magic knights, come to the stadium in the Royal Capital."

"My name is Yami Sukehiro. I don't know about being a magic knight but I'll think about it." I tell them not really caring.

The girl then bows "Well I hope to see you again Yami." she smiles at me while dragging Julius away.

I'm brought out of my thoughts and salute to Julius. 'I've been stuck with you and Hikaru ever since.'

"I'm just going to use my power and prove it, that's all. To prove you've made no mistakes." In the corner of my eye I see Hikaru smiling at me.

"I'm counting on you Yami. And you Asta. It's such a coincidence that you're in Yami's squad. I doubt that they'll be able to get in without your anti-magic. And your experience with midnight eye. I'm counting on you." Julius says.

"Yes Sir!" I hear Asta shout from beside me. He hit his chest hard after doing the Salute, he soon starts rolling on the ground. I hear some giggles from the kid in the back with Hikaru.

"Hikaru." Julius calls his sister. "Yes?" she replies with. "I'll have you join along with the Black Bulls on this mission." Julius orders her. "Yes." she salutes.

I turn to look back at her and she smiles at me. I blow out another puff of smoke and raise my brow. "So Hikaru, are you going to tell about that new family member of yours?" I ask her.

She smiles and looks back at Julius and the boy. She moves the boy to the front of her. "That boy is my nephew Yami~ Isn't he cute~" I hear Julius coo. I bit down on my cigarette. "What." I say sternly.

"You had a child when you were gone over the years, so you left your husband back at heart? Did ja?" I ask her kinda annoyed. Her eyes widened.

"Wait Yami. Let me talk and clear things up. It is true that this is my son. But I saved him when I was in Heart kingdom so I took him in and he became my son. I'm still too young to get married at the moment." She informs me with a hint of blush on her face.

"Wow!! Hikaru-senpai! That is so noble and nice of you!" Asta shouts. She giggles in return. "Thank you Asta, I would appreciate it if you could be a friend or older brother figure for Lance for me." The boy beams in excitement "Of course!"
