The Escape

The road to Kate's house is a one lonely road with fewer cars passing on it since Dave's street is usually not a busy place.

Lionel glanced thoughtful for a while as he followed keenly after the car, thinking on what to do.

"What should I do?" he mumbled, looking around in the car when his eyes spotted on his phone. He quickly reached for it.

"Let me try calling her." he muttered, searching for Riley's number.

"What if she doesn't pick?" a voice whispered in his mind then he suddenly paused for a while.

"I still have to try." he uttered, dialing Riley's number. The first call went through but she didn't pick.

"Pick up Riley..., at least for this last time." he mumbled nervously as he kept calling.

Riley was still lost in thoughts and pissed off why everybody is telling her what to do and what not to do and didn't hear her phone ringing.

"This is really driving me crazy." she mumbled, slightly brushing her hand in her hair as she glanced through the window.

"Miss..." muttered the driver.

"Huh..?" mumbled Riley, jolting out of her thoughts as she glanced at the driver.

"I think your phone is ringing." he replied as he glanced at her through the driving mirror.

"Oh, thank you." she answered, narrowing her eyes to the bag as she reached out for the phone. She glanced at the caller and it was Lionel.

" What does he want again? Isn't what he has done enough already?" she mumbled, about to toss the phone back into the bag then paused.

" Let me hear what he has to say again." she uttered, answering the call.

"Riley...?" uttered Lionel anxiously, his voice hastily rushing through the phone.

"I think you're being followed." he added.

Riley's eyes flew wide opened, stunned and quickly turned to look back with the phone still on her ears.

"Oh no.." she mumbled, swiftly turning back.

"I have to go now Lio..." she added.

"No Riley, wait....." came Lionel's voice from the phone, about to say something but Riley hanged up.

"Driver..." she hastily uttered, slightly leaning forward.

"Can you please speed up, I think we're been followed."she added.

The driver quickly at his side mirror and sighed.

"You're right miss.., do you know them?"

"No but I think I know who sent them." she commented.

"Please driver faster."

"Okay." mumbled the driver as he doubled his speed.

Riley swiftly turned back, glancing at the unknown car which was fast closing in on them.

"Can't you go any faster?" she queried anxiously.

Meanwhile, Lionel was also following keenly after the unknown car tailing after Riley's.

"What to do?" he muttered as he sent his eyes searching for anything that will be useful to scare the goons off.

"I need to do something, I can't let her take you away from me just like she did to my mother." he added.

Just then, he remembered he had a siren hidden somewhere in the car.

"Why didn't I remember this earlier." he muttered, reaching for the siren.

"There you go." he added, putting the siren on the car.

"Let see how this works." he commented with a smile.

Zed and his goons were still following in on Riley when they heard the sound of a siren behind them.

"Oh shit." mumbled Zed, swiftly glancing at the car behind them.

IN RILEY'S CAB

"Please do something." shouted Riley to the driver as she kept glancing at the unknown cab.

"Hold on Miss, I will take a quick turn here. These route is only know to few drivers around here. Trust me."

"Okay, okay..." she mumbled nervously, still glancing at them.

The goons attention was swiftly driven from Riley to the car following after as they kept monitoring through the driver's mirror and the side mirrors.

"What do we do Zed..?" questioned one of the goons.

"Just keep going." he responded, his attention still fixed on the car behind them.

Their attention was so divided and didn't even noticed when Riley's cab disappeared from their sight.

"Hold on." uttered the driver in the goon's car as he stared through the windscreen undistracted.

"Where did she go?" he queried, drawing the rest attention to the road.

"Oh no, we lost her." added one of the goons.

"What..?" exclaimed Zed, slightly stretching his neck to have a clear view.

"No, wait, how did it happened?" he queried, bemused.

When Lionel noticed that Riley has successfully escaped from the goons, he took a deep sigh of relief and sped passed the goons car.

"What..?" exclaimed Zed on noticing the car with the siren was just a car going it's own way.

"It was just a car passing by?" he gasped.

"I can't just believe we lost her just because of this car." he mumbled in disbelieve.

CLIFFORD'S APARTMENT

After about 30mins of driving, the cab pulled up in front of Riley's house.

"That was a close one." uttered Riley with a sigh.

"Thanks so much." she added.

"Who were they? If I may ask." inquired the driver.

"I don't know myself." she responded as she got down the cab.

"I'm really grateful." she mumbled.

"Welcome." answered the driver and sped off.

Riley took a deep sigh and glided into the house. She slowly pushed the door opened and was surprised to see Lian in the living room.

"Uncle..?" she called, stunned.

"What are you doing here by this time?" she questioned as she neared him.

"To see you of course." he replies with a smile as he gestured Riley to have a seat beside him.

"What kept you? I have been here for about an hour now."

"Are you here with mum?" she questioned as she took her seat.

"No dear, she will be discharge tomorrow."

"Oh OK." she replied, slightly smiling.

"Well, Riley, I still came over into talking to you to join the family overseas. We can find a way together to pin Nichole down over there. That way, it will be an unexpected attack and she will be caught off guard. Having you endanger yourself over here is too risking Riley. If not of anything, please think about your mother."

"I know Uncle and I'm willing to stay back to fight for justice for my dad. That's why I'm pleading with you to take my mother with you. I still have my friends with me and...."

"And Lionel..?" added Lian, chipping in.

Riley swiftly glanced at him in silence for a while without a word a stood up to leave.

"You have to give him a chance Riley. Just hear him out for once." uttered Lian, making Riley paused midway.

"I will think about it Uncle.." she replied about to leave when the door slammed opened.

Both Lian and Riley stared at the door with eyes wide opened, stunned.
