We don’t mix

Once we parted, I ran to my cabin and sat in my egg chair. I didn't even bother going to my Greek lessons. I sat in my chair for a little bit but then realized I was wasting my time.

I had to get packing.

After I got a backpack from the main building I realized I had no idea what I should pack to go on a quest.

I heard a light knock on my door and Seth was standing there with his backpack.

"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to pack together so someone can carry the food and the other water and stuff."

"Sure." I responded. I stepped aside welcoming him in my cabin. I directed him to my room and he saw my empty backpack.

"You haven't packed anything?" He asked turning to me.

"I don't really know what to."

"Well start with extra clothes and a medical kit."

I grabbed 1 pair of jeans, 2 t-shirts, and a pair of denim shorts. I neatly folded them and placed them at the bottom of the backpack.

I them noticed Seth's eyes were following me. I still didn't feel comfortable with him, but I would have to since we will be gone with each other for who knows how long. We really didn't mix, but we had to but our differences aside.

I walked out of the room and grabbed the medical kit in the living room that was provided. Inside it had honey, splints, tape, bandages, bandaids, ointment to put on cuts, and joint cream.

I walked back in the room and placed it on top of my clothes. "Okay... what now?" I asked.

"Well, we will need food and extra weapons."

"Okay, I will carry the water and you get the food. I will grab extra throwing knifes. What weapons do you use?"

He smiled and pulled out a huge hammer from his tool belt. 'How can that even fit in there. Plus, his tool belt looks super light.' I thought.

I just nodded and we both went out of my cabin to fetch everything else we needed and an thing else we thought we should bring.

As I walked over to the tool shed to get the throwing knifes, Jake stopped me and pulled me aside.

"I need to talk to you. Everything Jocelyn said was a lie. She was just trying to get into your head."

"I honestly don't want to hear it." I pleaded.

"Please Rital! I really like you and I don't want it to be ruined because you believe something a jealous girl said."

"Why would she be jealous of me. Like Jocelyn said, I am an ice freak." I turned around a started walking away when he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back again.

"Please? Give me a chance?!" He said with desperation.

"I'm sorry Jake, but I have too much going on right now to deal with this. Now let me go."

This time when I walked away we didn't pull me back. I started to feel bad but didn't want to waste time trying to deal with this.

I went to the weapons closet to grab a few knifes with a good grip and sharp end. I found a set and poked the edge of one of the knifes with my finger. It started bleeding. "Perfect!" I thought.

Once I got the knifes, I went to the mess hall to grab bottles of water. I didn't really know how much we needed, so I grabbed 6. I ran back to my cabin to see Seth has there waiting for me.

"Did you get what you needed?" He asked.

"Yup."

I dumped the water bottles in my backpack and wrapped the knifes with some cloth so it wouldn't make the water bottles leak.

I was wondering what Seth brought to eat but I decided that I shouldn't be picky. As long as it wasn't seafood.

"Rital," he said facing me. "Take this." He handed me a pink liquid in a small bottle. "When you drink this, you can't be charmspoken."

"What?" I asked.

"You don't know what charmspeak is?"

"No."

"Charmspeak is what children of Aphrodite can do. They can convince you to do things with their voice."

"Wow, but why would we need these?"

"Because some people might try to use their abilities for a bad reason."

"Got it." I threw the potion in my bag and zipped it up. "Do we need anything else?" I asked.

"I would get some pajamas just in case we have to rest a night and extra shoes."

I grabbed a pair of pjs and extra running shoes. I opened my backpack up and placed them inside.

"Okay," he said grabbing his backpack. "I will see you later. He walked out of the room and outside the cabin leaving me alone.

I sat down on my bed and closed my eyes drifting to sleep. I again saw the cage but this time there was someone in there. She was extremely pail and looked like she was freezing over. Memories of the past starting to come up.

I tried pinching myself so I could wake up. But I couldn't wake up. 'Save me!' The voice in my head shouted. 'Help me!'

I didn't know who was saying what and starting to get dizzy. I stumbled to the floor and woke up panting.

Evan was towering over me. "Gods Rital, you slept through lunch and dinner! Get ready for the campfire! It is in 5 minutes!"

He ran out of my cabin and I got up to change into a t-shirt and shorts. I ran out of the cabin and arrived at the campfire just in time before Apollo started speaking.
