A Song of Pleasure and Pain

In 1265, part of the Southern Song Army defected to Kublai Khan, a prelude to the great Mongolian conquest of China.



These Southern Song soldiers were incorporated into the humiliating "Newly Submitted Army". To reward their treason and soothe their wounded pride, Kublai Khan awarded farmland, clothes, cattle to them. As well as desirable Korean slave-wives.



This story follows the games of seduction between a rebellious Garrison Commander under the Song and his deaf Korean wife as they are swept along Kublai Khan's great ambition to create an all-conquering Mongolian Empire.
