A Servant Of Evil Chapter 22

Stephen, seeing the spectacularly horrendous sight of his youngest daughter being openly assaulted in public daylight let out a cry of injustice at this mockery of his "good" name.

"Father, Miriam was wrong for going to pick flowers for Papa, Miriam admits her mistake, please save daughter from death!" Cried Miriam actually starting to feel abit worried.

Afterall, she didnt want to actually kill Anya with her little spade after knowing it wasn't someone abducting her. Alas, the undoubtedly future spinster was already riled up.

Who knew this smiling governess had such a haughty temper?

Fiona hearing the commotion came outside as well, and seeing her Stephen let out a sigh of relief. Now he didn't have to lay his hands on that wretched governess and be accused of hitting a lady. He could instead get Fiona to do it for him. All was going to be well with the world again.

"Maid Fiona, please go save my daughter! Ah!

Stephen "cried", Fiona would almost swear to God, that she had seen little crocodile shaped tears form in the corner of that man's eyes.

Rushing foward Fiona grabbed Miriam from Anyas clutches and set her to the side.

Before forcefully restraining the woman with her bare hands.

This was the point in time that Miroam learned Fiona was definitely alot stronger than she looked. Ahah.

Mr. Stuart walked to the two fighting ladies and addressed Ms. Hart about her atrocious professional conduct.

"Ms.Hart why did you attack my daughter? Is this how a servant of my estate should act? Give me a good reason to not fire you on the spot this very instance." Bellowed Mr.Stuart trying to seem all manly and imposing.

Miriam was abit distraught by this whole affair. Why did this lady seem to not respect her at all?

She had never spit in her eggs in morning so why was she so angry at her now?

Most governess would be worried when their charge disappeared, not angry enough to try and kill her!

Anya huffed and puffed before calmomg down abit and trying to explain herself.

"Mr. Stuart, I fear your daughter is possed by the devil! First thing in the morning she ran off into the streets, who knpws what vile things she could have been doing since she's been missing for about an hour and a half now.

I dare question if she is still even pure! Mr. Stuart your daughter talks too smart for her age, I think she may be possessed by a succubis and that is why you started to treat her irrationally well as of late."

Incensed at what bullshit this governess was spewing out, Miriam opened her mouth in defense of herself.

"Excuse you Ms. Hart, for all the vile things you have said about me. I may not know what a succubus is but I know from the Bible that being possessed is a great atrocity. I merely saw some pretty flowers earlier yesterday when we came into town and wanted to pick a few. I do regret to say that I got abit distracted by a beautiful butterfly on the ground of a church nearby the street and sat down to draw it. I am terribly sorry if me being on church grounds of a Christian faith to draw a mere bug causes me to become possessed with whatever nonsense it is you are spouting. Ah! My biggest regret is not being stupid enough to satisfy my governess. The one person in my life who should encourage my growth and pursuit for information about the world, instead wishes I were to drool in the corner and not be able to hold a quill in hand."

Miriama face had turnee red by the time she had finished her breif explanation of where she was earlier.

Red faced, Anya began to get even more hysterical.

"See! You all witnessed the words and vocabulary she uses, much too advanced for her age! I dare say this is possession of an evil spirit.!"

Mr. Stuart was feeling rather constipated from the screaming an shouting going on around him.

"Ms. Hart, my daughter is a good Christian girl. A child getting distracted by a butterfly doesn't warrant her being possesed by evil spirits. More or less a succubus. Please pack your things. We no longer need your services. I suggest going to see a doctor about a possible case of early hysteria. Please dont try to contact anyone from my estate again."

Miriam put her spade away in her bag carefully and looked at Anya with a look a noble would give to a dirty peasant which he pitied.

Beatrice and the other servant arrived around the time that Anya was sobbing in their shared room in the Inn and packing her belongings.

When the one maid tried to ask what was wrong Anya shot her an angry red eyed glare and stomped out of the room with her meager possessions in hand.

Miriam was getting consoled by Fiona in the stage coach they were going to travel in to Richmond Virginia.

Miriam calmed down rather quickly, but had to put up airs of being more scared than she actually was because of her young age.

Once they set out Miriam had her cabbage snack for a late breakfast.

Poor Miriam, she ended up missing breakfast because of Anyas freak out.

The stage coach started on its journey to Richmond, Virginia.

Busying herself inside the carriage during the daylight, Miriam started to cut out medium pieces of fabric before she began to sew them.

Medical school really helped her perfect her straight, and neat stitching.

Also it helped that her sister was a aspiring fashion designer so she often had to help lay out and sometimes sew a little to help her sister out when she was younger in her past life.

Deftly sewing the fabric together, Miriam managed to get the small yellow shirts torso base done before sunset began to creep across the landscape.

Barron watched Miriam with interest. When the natural light went out, Miriam took out her little sketchbook and began drawing small designs that could possibly adorn the shirt.

Fiona looked on in wonderment at how fast and seemingly well practiced Miriam was in needlework.

After sketching some designs, Miriam put a piece of cut out paper across the front of the shirt and attached it to a wooden circle that fastened the fabric in place for embroidery.

Using some spare red thread she had in her bag, she began to embroider a mourning cloak butterfly around the collar of the shirt.

Taking out her specimin from time to time for quick color distribution reference.

Alternating between red, golden yellow, and black thread, she slowly but surely finished the embroidery by the middle pf the night. Finishing the basic embroidery, she put the shirt up for the night, before soundly falling asleep.

They had traveled many miles that day and then well into the night.

By morning the next day, they were almost to Richmond Virginia.

Mr. Stuart and the rest of the party got off the coach in morning and went to a nearby Inn to rest for half the day before returning to their coach and continuing their journey.

By sunset they had reached Richmond, Virginia.

Miriam was excited, she had finished her shirt during the rest of the ride to Richmond.

By the time they got to New York, she should have the whole outfit complete.
