A Puppetmaster In Need Chapter 35

Seeing that Bannon had eventually fallen asleep, Miriam made her way over to the quill and ink atill out next to some blank sheets of paper.

She needed to organize her thoughts.

Sliding onto the old wooden chair, Miriam picked up the quill, dipped it in ink, and started to draw an outline for plans in the near future.

Writing down her immediate goals Miriam wrote:

Urgently needed: Male subordinates so I can capitalize on the upcoming gold rush

Preferably directly related male family members, other than father.

Need to hopefully find illegitimate sons of fathers preferably of 16 years or older as of the date of this being written.

Needed: Investigate any possible cousins that can be used.

Needed: Hire a few servants to groom for future service to me.

Urgent: Figure out which plot of land I should tell father to go mine. Must keep the income good but not too good. Garnet mine or iron mine is high possibility.

Goals I would like to accomplish in the next 10 years :

1.Be very rich

2. Try not to change history too much

3. Find all of dads children and brainwa- explain to them why they hate their father and the south.

4. Find out who killed my first nurse-maid and have them...if possible killed, if killing is not possible, ruin their life.

5. Keep tabs on what Joseph is up too.

6. Learn the following languages proficiently,

Italian, French, pretend to learn Chinese, Brush up on my German, Dutch, Portuguese, and if time permits, learn passable Spanish.

7. Stop extinction of Carolina Conure

8. Convince father even further that I am the greatest gift God has given him, and to treat me like the Christians do Jesus.

9. Slowly steer the family away from slavery and into more humane and friendly ventures.

P.S, Except mining, it can't be helped unfortunely.

Must Accomplish in 2 years:

Keep Brannan the Mormon from setting up the major shops in California.

Take his spot and watch the money roll in when gold rush starts.

Figure out a way to get a family member to take her to Californa so they can "happen upon" gold placer deposits.

Rig it so she somehow gets any good profitable ventures into a trust in her name only.

After finishing the list, which Miriam wrote in a modern day college shorthand incase someone found it, she blew on it so that the ink dried.

Still not feeling tired, she decided to practice her Chinese calligraphy to keep her skills from getting rusty.

By chance she may have also drawn some comical looking Buddha caricature's along the corners of the pages as well. Respectfully, of course.

That's when Miriam remembered the a certian piece of work that incited death across the world..

Wasn't it written in 1848? If she were... if that man were to dissappear, and his accomplice, would... she be able to theoretically save her former life's ancestors from the blood bath that was socialist revolutions gone wrong?

Would killing two men for the greater good of humanity be something she could live with?

After seeing the atrocities she had seen online about what happened during those "revolutions" and how countries tended to become vicious killing machines because of corrupt socialism where one leader seized power and never let go...she could bare with the burden of of human lives on her hands.

She silently promised herself that she would somehow figure out a way to stop disaster before it struck.

A way had to be found...

With the last few pieces of paper in her hands, she decided to make flashcards for children to learn words easier.

Quietly putting her chinese babblings aside, she exited her rump from the seat of the chair and got up rather lethargic like from the seat.

Trodding over to the travel trunk, she opened it slowly so as to not let the hinges make their signature creeky song. Took out a pair of scissors and pecils, and brought them back to the table.

Cutting out pieces of almost identical large cards of paper, once finished with cutting, she staryed to sketch out pictures of common day words.

Slowly time went by and by the time Miriam finished it was probably around 12 AM in the morning.

Having completed 100 flashcards, she felt proud of herself.

Crumbling up the chinese calligraphy drawings she threw them into her travel trunk and got her materials and tools and put them away neatly in their places.

Checking on Samantha, and seeing her still inside the basket, she hesitantly closed the lid to the basket.

Going over to the side of her small bed, Miriam undressed and put as little on as possible.

Unfortunately for her the nineteenth century did not have air conditioning.

As she wasn't planning on dying from heatstroke in the dead of the night, Miriam wore as little as possible to stay cool.

In modern standards she was adequately clothed of course.

Once finally asleep, Miriam felt like everything passed by within seconds when the first rays of sunlight started to filter in through the glass window.

Stirring slightly Miriam kicked her covers off only to her a small " Chi whiii whiiree!" from somewhere near her head.

Rubbing her still sleepy eyes, Miriam finally opened them to see a colorful face infront of hers.

"Eeeek!" Miriam screeched upon such a unexpected sight.

Of course, Twinkle didn't like this very much so he flew to the other side of the room and landed on Bannons sound asleep figure huddled underneath a bundle of old covers.

Ploop!

Miriam was quite sure that Twinkle had just given a very small, and stinky, present to Bannon.

Barely managing to stifle her laugher, Miriam got up and out of bed and hurried to her travel trunk to get new clothes out to wear.

Looking through it, she managed to find one of her brothers old pair of boots from inside that she had stol- borrowed from his old bedroom at the Stuarts Virginia Plantation.

After finding these when still at home, she had itmedaitely gone about making them look abit more feminine so she could wear them without gasps and whatnot.

They had blue ribbon tied around the top of them and she had gotten them shined about two weeks by one of their families young servant boys.

She also had taken the liberty to embroider a few small simplistic blue flowers on the outer side of each boot.

Setting the boots aside, she took off her night gown and got dressed for the day in a pretty white dress with pale blue embellishments.

Combing her hair, she put on her undergarments and stockings and put on the boots last.

Noticing the elderbwrries still lay on the table, she picked them up and put gentley tossed them up onto the top of the wardrobe where Twinkle was still in slumber.

Making sure to not hit him, of course.
