Past #1: Suzuki

During the ten years where the kids trained, at a certain moment, they got trained to be able to kill.

It was exactly at the beginning of the ninth year, where they got their test so Jotaro could see the progress that their eighth year brought. Children expected a standard test, where they would either compete against each other or test their abilities under certain circumstances. However, what the government, especially those in charge of their apprenticeship, reserved for them this year was much more severe and horrible than anything they had learned so far.

The size of the island was of 10 km².

"That's a nice weather we have here!" Hitomi said, upon arriving on the island, followed by her mates.

"Hrgh... finally out of this cursed vehicle." Katsu whispered, on all four on the sand. He seemed sick of the boat.

The boat trip was not hectic at all, on the contrary, the wind was calm and they were able to arrive at their destination without incident

"I told you that you should have slept during the travel, but you didn't listen to me and spent your time throwing up, leaning over the ocean." Genta said, helping Katsu to stand up.

"You should have listened to him indeed." Kiku said to Katsu, shaking her head in disapproval.

"Kiddos, be focused on what you have in front of you." Jotaro said appearing in front of them, a little girl on his shoulder.

"First of all, you are not here on vacation, this is your last test, and I hope you can also achieve it since it is the most important test of all, it will make you learn something that will distinguish you from heroes." he continued, before stopping to look at Erza who has her right hand raised.

"Excuse me, sensei, but is she your daughter? What's her name?" Erza asked, stars in her eyes.

"Oh her? Yes, she is, says hello to them Jolyne."

"Hello, my name is J-Jolyne." the little girl said, having trouble pronouncing her name.

"Oh~!" the girls and Genta said in unison saying the cuteness of Jotaro's daughter.

"Let's come back to the reason for our presence here as I said before, your mission is to exit the labyrinth that you can see ahead of us, you will go across enemies who will try to kill you. Your role is to kill them before they can kill you. Don't worry about their lives, they are criminals sentenced to death, they did so many heinous things in their lives that death is the only possible outcome for them."

"W-we must kill them?" Hitomi asked, her voice shaking.

"Yes you must, it is a lesson that you will all learn kiddos. If you don't kill them, they will kill you, they will kill your friends, families, everyone who is dear to you. If you hesitate to finish your enemy, it may very well cost you your life, that's the destiny of a lot of heroes. They don't want to kill, however, the villains they affront doesn't care about that at all, and won't hesitate to strike to kill."

"Now, you will enter the labyrinth, each by one of the door, and will kill your designated foes before they kill you and go for your friends."

"But-"

"It is an order, go now." Jotaro ordered, not letting Genta the time to speak more.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Once before each door, the 6 kids looked at each other, hesitating to go through the doors.

"We must do it... otherwise, our chances of survival during missions will be very low. I don't want to lose anyone of you guys." Katsu said, clenching his fist.

"Yes... good luck y'all." Suzuki said quietly before crossing the door, which disappeared behind him.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-

'I can understand why Jotaro seemed a little proud of this labyrinth, I feel like I'm retracing my steps every time.' Suzuki thought while walking in the labyrinth.

He walked for almost one hour, and he still hasn't encountered anyone.

'Is there really someone here? I feel like I'm being chea-!' Before he could finish thinking, he felt a presence behind him, emanating an oppressive thirst for blood, the kind of thirst for blood that he only felt once from Jotaro.

"..." turning around, with a hand on the handle of his katana, Suzuki observed the figure who slowly advanced towards him.

"So... you are my prey? If they send you to confront me, you have to be up to it, otherwise, I don't understand what a child like you could face me." The figure spoke slowly, not caring about the situation they were in.

"..." still not replying, Suzuki drew his sword, a concentrated look on his face, looking for the possible weaknesses of his foe.

"You are not the talkative type huh? Whatever, I am not either." he said, stepping outside the shadow which hid its physical traits.

The man who talked to Suzuki wore a traditional samurai outfit, adorned with a Chinese hat, sheltering his face from the Sun which was currently to his zenith. At his belt, a katana can be observed, his handle decorated with gold, and his scabbard, covered with silver.

"Let me present myself, young man. I am Haruto Nakama, my quirk's name is [Samurai's Will]. As you can see I am a samurai myself, and since you have a nodachi in your hand, so you must be pretty strong as a swordsman right? I hope you will be a strong opponent since it will be the last time I will fight before my execution." he said unsheathing his katana while putting his guard.

"Won't your present yourself young man?" He asked the unmoving Suzuki.

"..."

"I hope you won't hold this against me in your next life then. This position is called "[Seigan no gamae], I intend to bisect you immediately."

"Saying what you want to do is extremely stupid, is this what samurai are? Not surprising that you almost all disappeared." Suzuki finally said before crouching and dashing toward Haruto with surprising speed.

'Fast!' Haruto thought before cutting his sword vertically, meeting Suzuki's sword with force.

"You are stronger than what I think kid!" Haruto said, judging Suzuki's strength in one encounter.

"[Room] [Shambles]!" Suzuki said, surprising Haruto by disappearing from before him.

'What?! Behind me!' Haruto thought hurriedly sensing a danger behind him. He rolled in a panic on the ground, narrowly failing to be cut in half by Suzuki, however, he inflicted a superficial wound on his back, drawing the first blood of the fight.

'... he cut me? On my back?!' Haruto thought, sensing the sharp pain on his back.

'His instincts are frightening. As expected of a veteran criminal.' Suzuki thought, seeing his attack being dodged.

"Don't you have any honor?! Using your quirk in a fight of samurais!" Haruto yelled, his eyes red from anger.

"You are completely dumb if you hoped that I wouldn't use my quirk to kill you, and I'm not a samurai, I am a surgeon, the surgeon of death!" Suzuki replied, before dashing once again toward Haruto.

"Tsk, I will kill you, young shit!" Haruto yelled, running toward Suzuki, his sword glowing red.

"Haah~!" He yelled, swinging his sword toward the approaching Suzuki, his blade releasing a red arc, splitting everything in his path.

'Petty tricks, [Shambles]' Suzuki thought, switching his place with the red arc.

'What?! He ignored my attacks so easily' Haruto thought, getting ready to slash at Suzuki.

However, he wasn't expecting him to throw his sword at him.

"Throwing your only weapon?! YOu are giving me your life!" He said, sidestepping Suzuki's katana.

"You think? [Shambles]" Suzuki replied, his face still stoic.

Suddenly, Suzuki's figure which was going to get cut in two by Haruto sword, disappeared, his thrown katana taking his place.

"Huh?!" Haruto said, surprised to see this, and surprised to sense two thumbs on his back.

"[Counter Shock]" Suzuki said, millions of volts spilling into Haruto's rib cage, killing him instantly.

Silence, resumed after Haruto's body fell to the ground, his katana immersed in the ground.

"..."

'I changed way too much... If the old me was still alive, he surely wouldn't agree with me killing but... I am obliged to do so, otherwise, I would not live up to my nickname and surely won't be able to survive in missions or even accomplish my goal.

I have to recover, a lot of people are counting on me, after all, I am... the Surgeon of Death.
