As the announcer blew the whistle to signal the start of the battle, everyone drew out their weapons but me. I was thinking whether I should go all from the start or hide my powers until it was necessary to use them. Hiding my abilities would most certainly give me an advantage. All the vampires and elves was eyeing me, gauging what my next move would be.
Turning to face the combatants, i gestured with my hand.
"Well come on then, don't keep me waiting." I grinned, motioning them to step forward.
I was expecting Evagoras to rush at me first, but he was just standing far away looking at me with his arms folded, there was a smirk on his face. It looked like he did not have the any interest in joining the battle. All other contestants knew that they did not have the slightest chance of going up against him, so the area around him was deserted.
My situation was completely different from his, there were approximately fifteen people surrounding me, they were anxiously holding their weapons waiting for me to make the first move.
As i released my predatory aura and took a step forward, they simultaneously took one step back. It might look laughable from the audience's perspective, but in the eyes of the combatants it was terrifying.
-He's just one guy, let's rush him.
-We're the best in our kingdom, there is no way we'll lose to one guy.
-Who is he anyways, never heard of him, this should be easy.
Gathering their courage, they started making their way towards me. They might think that strength in numbers would easily triumph me, but i had never even thought of them as a challenge in the first place.
Eyeing the biggest vampire heading towards me, i reached out and said, "Gravity Pull."
Suddenly the big vampire stumbled as he gained speed abruptly, soon he accelerated so fast that his feet had left the ground. Flying towards me at sonic speeds, his face was one of surprise and confusion. The rest who were advancing also stopped to watch the spectacle.
Even though the gravity magic was not directed at them, they could still feel the pull of it. Centering the epicenter of the gravity to the center of my fist, he flew towards it like a moth to a flame.
Now the saying, 'I punched him' did not apply here, but 'his face flew to my fist', was more like it.
As my fist connect with his head, there was a satisfying 'crunch' sound as i pounded him into the ground, creating a massive crater. When the dust settled, the big vampire laid motionless on the ground like a crumpled beast. His brains scrambled from the impact.
Just as i thought he was done, i saw his fingers twitch. It may be a small movement, but my eyes caught the minute movement.
Immediately restraining both arms, i placed a foot on his back and pulled with all my might. Vampires and humans may look alike, but their bodies were several times tougher. With my foot as leverage, i grabbed both arms and yanked them backwards. There was a murderous grin on my face as the arms slowly detached from their sockets.
The muscles could be seen stretching thin and finally snapping. Blood erupted everywhere, some splashing on me.
"AAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGHH!" The vampire now fully awake from his dazed state. He tried to flail around, but with missing arms, it did not help one bit.
"Shut your noisy ass up."
WHAMP
I stomped his lower jaws clean off, leaving his tongue laying lifelessly. His eyes rolled up and lost consciousness. As i wiped the blood and grim off my face, i turned around and looked at the combatants.
They were not expecting such a gory sight this early into the match. The elves had disgusted expressions on their faces while the vampires had still not come to terms with how quickly i've dispatched one of their own. The spectators on the other hand were cheering wildly, they paid big money to watch a bloodbath-filled match, and i have delivered exactly what they wanted.
I had come to this tournament with one goal and one goal only, and that was to win no matter what. And if there were any obstructions in my path, i would not hesitate to dispose of it. The no-killing rule said that it was forbidden to take another person's life, but it did not say i could not hurt them till a death-like stage.
'Oh how fun it is to see them build up so much courage and then crushing it like a bug under my foot.' I stared at them with killing intent that was thinly veiled behind my predatory aura. Some of the combatants were trembling noticeably on the spot. Years of training did not prepare them for the brutal reality of what a real battle was.
Inside the Monarch's Chamber, floating high above the spectators in the air, were the three monarchs staring intently at the match. All three of them carried varying expressions. Vulcan was the most excited, while Manik had a complicated expression on his face. Lyra had a hand cupping her face, looking smitten.
"Is that the warrior that you placed your kingdom's hopes on? Is he an illegitimate son of yours? His hair and magic does look very similar to yours. And what is that monstrous strength? That is not normal at all."
"You sure have an awful lot of questions don't you, are you actually afraid that he will beat your son?" Manik said.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, as powerful as he may be, he will NOT hold a candle to my son. Evagoras is just on a whole other level compared to him." Vulcan said in a very confident tone.
"Aaaaaah, he's so handsome," Lyra who was staring to Eric, turned and spoke to Manik. "Any day you don't want him, i will gladly welcome him into my kingdom."
Manik was about to reply, but she had already returned her attention back to Eric.
Down below, currently on the grand stage. The combatants were slowly backing away from me, their eyes lit with fear.
I looked to the side to check on see how Anastasia was doing. What i saw was just a one-sided battle of her beating the crap out of a few elves.
'I guess that's one less thing to worry about.'
Just as i was about to chase after the other combatants, Evagoras, who had been doing nothing so far, stepped forward. He examined the currently situation and then spoke to me.
"Let's call a truce for now, shall we?"
