Ch 5 Part 2

Nuvaro: (Climbing back on top of the cart, he turned and looked the crowd over.) "I say this now so there is no mistake, to everyone here that deals with the slave trade, any mountain villages that have their women taken away from here on out, IT WILL BE TAKEN AS AN ACT OF WAR! We have pride in our mountain villages that involve maintaining the old ways. You all have lost your way to a lesser extent, trying to mimic the ways of humans. A proud tribe will NEVER be taken down by a group of wandering thugs who can't seem to do better than be slavers or cheap salespeople."

Cedren: (Climbing up on the cart myself, I stood next to my mate with a declaration of my own.) "I'm his soul bonded mate, I had to suffer the indignity of being caged despite my eye color and markings. I am of the highest cast according to you people. They are not only chimeric but fluxed as well. I do not wish any other of my fellow females from the mountain villages to suffer through this."

Nuvaro: "Well said my love, you will rival any of the other village's wives with your spirit. As for you slaver, I suggest you find a better way that is not going to involve the mountain areas. Or go back to the old ways. Now we must go. Consider this your only warning. And to everyone around, I suggest you heed my declaration and take it seriously. The MOUNTAIN TRIBES WILL GO TO WAR if anything like this occurs again. That is why we have this slaver captains head upon a pike, as a warning."

We then moved ourselves to the seat in the front of the cart, our soldiers surrounding us in a perfect style unit, we barked out the orders to march toward home. We saw our fathers' friend in the distance and waved one last time giving our thanks. People in the crowds looking to our father's friend as they realized he was one of the high-end socialites. No one dared speak a word after they seen him. With everyone left in stunned silence, we proceeded out of town as if we were trained fighting machines, daring anyone to challenge us. Keeping our eyes trained on anything that might have moved as we left, the only sound was stunned gasps as we rode through town. No doubt our eyes were to blame for the further added stares, but that was simply fine with us. We hoped it would send a clear message to anyone who would dare try and take a chief's wife again. Kale the Slaver and his subordinates could only stand there in stunned silence, only glad that they were still breathing and could work there business still. Krista could only sit inside the cage wondering why she had been left behind, even though she had been told. She only went back to looking at her nails once again babbling to herself once more. We waited until the town was out of view before anyone went into a relaxed demeanor. Cedren then turned to her mate.

Cedren: "Oh I am so glad that little display of bravado is over now. I am totally famished. Who would have guessed such a demonstration could make you so damn hungry."

Nuvaro: (Chuckling to himself, his shoulders shook slightly.) "Well, I am glad it is over now as well. Don't worry, fathers friend sent us off with some jerky to eat on our way."

Cedren: "Oh, that is great, but I still might need more than that. Besides, its nearing late evening, the jerky will work for now, but how about we stop long enough to rest up the horses and hunt some small game for dinner?"

Nuvaro: "That sounds like a good plan. We will stop in a couple of hours; I just want to make sure we are away from that town."

Nodding in agreement, everyone was happy with the plan. We continued down the road for a time just enjoying the scenery. After around two hours, we found a suitable spot to raise camp. With part of the soldiers staying at camp while the others went hunting or fishing. We had soon gathered enough food to make sure everyone was fed. As evening fell upon us, all I could do was be thankful to have all the troops support. We thanked everyone for their help as evening came, and we all bedded down for the night, with several guards walking the perimeter in shifts. I seemed to sleep quite well knowing my mate was beside me for the first time in days. Morning had finally come, and breakfast was already being prepared by some of the patrolling soldiers.

Cedren: "Well now this is a treat indeed, breakfast already prepared. Thank you so much."

Trooper: "It was nothing really. We got to witness the true power behind what a properly mated pair could do. Making breakfast for the one who carries our clan's future is nothing."

Nuvaro: "Well all the same, thank you for making sure there was food first thing this morning. Let us all eat and prepare to head out. We can take our time getting home. Plus, we can fill this cart with more food items."

Nodding in agreement, everyone finished eating and before too long we were back underway, hunting along the way till the cart we had taken had been filled almost to the top. This would surely ensure that there would not be a shortage whatsoever. We arrived back to the to the outskirts of the village by the sixth day. As soon as the guards on the wall seen us sitting upon the cart, the gate was swung wide open. We pulled in with our haul stopping in front of the butcher's hut. With all the commotion outside, Nuvaro' s father came running out of the main house to greet us.

Nuvo Hact: "I do say, what is causing so much noise out here?"

Everyone that was standing around our cart that was staring at the head on a pike, then they slowly moved allowing Cedren and Nuvaro to be visible. Nuvaro' s father's eyes grew wide when he seen the two. And with the biggest smile he had ever had, ran up to them both embracing each of them. His excitement was almost too much for either of them, it was showing.

Nuvaro: "Calm down father, we have made it back safe and sound. As you can see, I obviously had no issues getting my mate back now did I?"

Nuvo Hact: "I'm just so relieved. I didn't know what might happen to her or you while you were gone."

Nuvaro: "As you can see, (He raised his hand up pointing to the top of the cart where the pike was.) the slaver captain did not get away. And the village girl was left behind in the other cart as a warning to any who betray the village again."

Nuvo Hact: "I want to apologize again son, I knew she had to be dealt with, I just never expected her to go as far as she did. I will NEVER make that mistake again."

Cedren: "I do not think we will have to worry about any of the slaver captain's partners coming to our mountains again. We gave the whole slaver town a showing they should not forget for a long time. Your contact in the slaver city was a big help as well."

Nuvo Hact: "I am grateful to him for his help. He sent word that you helped him with some strategies to help get some of the other women out of the slaver city auction house."

Nuvaro: "It was the least I could do for all his help in getting my mate back. So, it was nothing. I intend to help him again if he needs it"

Nuvo Hact: "That is good. But for now, a victorious feast for your safe return home. I also see you kept his cart and filled it with more food. That is good. All right, we celebrate tonight. And Cedren, you might be in for a slight surprise later."

Cedren: "That is fine. I did want to add, before I forget, to hold a town meeting concerning what happened to me and I would like to make note of punishment for anyone who betrays their fellow villagers."

Nuvaro: "Yes father, I would like to make sure this issue is addressed throughout the village. I cannot help but to agree with my mate on this specific request."

Nuvo Hact: (Raising his eyebrow slightly, he had a surprised look on his face as he addressed his son.) "Well now, that is a bold move. With both of you in agreement, I do not have any cause to deny the request. A town meeting will be scheduled and set in place. I will let everyone know"
