Chapter 19
Now was the time they really had to worry. The reputation of the southern region was well known by most everyone that traveled the roads there, and it was not a good one. As for the worrying concern, it was not when the carts were practically empty, it was when the carts were full of stock. The journey home was going to take even longer due to the weight now added to the carts. As they passed through town on their way out, Kale thought he heard someone speak of the bandits traveling the road just outside of town. Being on high alert now, his eyes scanned the area even more carefully while they traveled. His men noticing his high alert status followed suit and began scanning the areas as well. If the boss was on edge, then there must be something to it. It would be a four-day ride back at the most, depending on dangers and possible road conditions. Hopefully, no hidden thieves had lined the roads with traps, that would be rather inconvenient for everyone.
