-Blake-
We started to pick the rocks from the table, lucky the number of the rocks that contained a metal that absorbs the sunlight was enough for all of us.
My group insisted for me to pick a rock on the table first because they said I deserved it, not like it matters to me anyway so I approached the rocks on the table and a strange event happened.
Every single rock on the table without exception started turning red, and some of them even moved as if they were alive.
Many of the people around flinched or got surprised by the unexpected event, even Amane herself was shocked this has never happened before, from the entire history of the demon slayer final selection, this was the first.
I wasn't sure what to do, even though I didn't know this would happen, so I thought, 'I guess strange things are going to happen to me from now on.'
I finally accepted that I wasn't normal anymore, and I was sure this wouldn't be the last time.
Looking at the stone, I began to inspect them one by one. Honestly, they all looked the same. I wasn't Tanjiro. I do not have his talent for smell so I couldn't tell the difference.
Because I couldn't pick one myself, I decided to do this the old way. I took a deep breath and started, "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe! Which rock is going to be my moe!"
Then my finger pointed at a specific rock in the middle. I took it and said, "You're going to be my starter Pokemon."
Everyone was confused by my words, they don't know what this 'Pokemon' is but it sounds important.
Then the next person who was with me, casually picked a stone, not really caring which one since they all look the same, "Then I'll pick this pokemon."
I looked at him with wide eyes thinking, 'Did I just start something?'
Then the other one from the group moved forward and said, "I choose this pokemon."
"I choose you!"
"Pokemon, this I pick."
Then there was Jaune who also joined the fray, he too was just as clueless as the rest of them, "A pokemon, is it? Then you are the one!"
He pointed at the rock on the corner, the same with me, his rock also turned slightly red as he made skin contact with it.
I stared at Jaune in disbelief and exclusively internally, 'Not you too!'
Now that everyone got their stones, we put our names on them and gave them to Amane's assistants, after that she said that their blade would be ready by the next 2 weeks.
Amane also didn't forget to inform her husband about the 2 anomalies which are I and Jaune, after all no one besides us managed to get such a reaction from the rock.
After that everyone said their goodbyes and thanks for saving their lives to me, one of them was reluctant to leave me, it was obvious who it was.
Makomo didn't want to say goodbye this early, but as reluctant as she is, she still has to inform her teacher that she passed and survived the final selection, it would surely make them proud.
Giyu and Sabito would be also happy with this news, before leaving she looked at me one last time like she was saving my image inside her mind after a full minute she left.
Then I looked at Jaune and said, "It's time for us to go too."
"So, we're just going to leave Makugo?"
"Oh.."
I kind of forgot about her.
—
It's been a whole week since the final selection. A lot of things happened especially to the lower moon demon. The first time Echidna saw her, she instantly dragged her into her lab and didn't care whether Muzan was watching or not.
Frankly, she's aware because of Tamayo's information, but it didn't stop her from bringing Makugo to her lab. The first thing she did was cut off the connection between her and Muzan that itself was so easy to her.
So Muzan's only source of information is now gone. Echidna didn't really like showing her works to others especially to those who have bad intentions or for their selfish desires.
While she does want to save everyone, which is her dream. It actually doesn't apply to those who don't deserve it, while she and Shirou's dream is similar, yet they are also different.
Because she wasn't naive enough to think that everyone needed saving.
Makugo was a rare specimen to her, now with her around. Echidna's research about true immortality progressed faster before she turned her into a human, she conducted a lot of experiments on her, but not too cruel. After all, she didn't want to cross the edge of morality if she did that. How could she? The one who was supposed to save everyone, a monster?
No refuses to cross that line, the line that Archer crossed countless times.
—
Echidna finally did make Makugo a human a week later, but the girl was traumatized with her, even looking at her face scares the living shit out of Makugo.
She would always be near Jaune whether she saw Echidna around, she did apologize to the girl for the 'test' that she conducted before she turned her into a human.
Though, it didn't work as she gave her a major trauma, after that she didn't try to apologize because she knows that whatever she said to the girl would be left unheard.
Makugo's new appearance was that of a 17 years old girl, with black hair, amber eyes; she also has a common height for Japanese girls.
But the most surprising thing was, she's packing a weapon inside her body, a two huge melon she's a Shinobu tits level.
Small but terrible, one cannon really judges the book by its cover.
Every day she's always sticking to Jaune like a koala, it was obvious to everyone minus Jaune that she has a major crush on our blonde knight.
But he was too dense to notice, I thought, 'Is being dense is the way to get a harem?'
I wasn't sure before, but I sure do now. It's always those idiotic kinds of person who gets the girls.
I went to Echidna's location and sat beside her, "Say, I'm kind of curious about what kind of 'test' you do for Makugo, are you sure you didn't dissect her body or something?"
Echidna took a sip of her tea and replied calmly, "No, I didn't, I only took some of her blood and flesh."
Hearing that I couldn't help but ask, "How much is this 'some' exactly?"
Silence.
"..."
"..."
Both of us looked at each other's eyes, and I started sweating and awkwardly spoke, "O-okay…I get it I won't ask."
She's sending a clear message that she didn't want to talk about it. I could only imagine how much blood exactly did she drain out of Makugo.
"So, is your project of yours almost done?"
"Yes, I'm making significant progress after the girl's arrival," Echidna said calmly.
"You know, this 'girl' you're talking about could basically be your grandma at this point you know?" I smiled wryly.
"Indeed she is, but she looks younger than me, her personality is that of a teenager so it's fair to me to call her 'girl'" Echidna poured another tea from the teapot.
I get her logic but…actually, you know what, forget it.
Echidna looked at me again and said, "Tea?"
Her tea was good, and there was no real reason to refuse, "Yes please,"
Then Echidna started pouring tea into the other cup, then after that, she gave it to me and I said 'thank you' before taking a sip.
Damn, it's really good.
"You know that tea has my bodily fluids." Echidna suddenly said without a warning.
Hearing that I almost spit the tea out of my mouth, "Cough- cough- that's a good one."
I smiled wryly at her.
"A good one? Are you saying that I'm joking?" Echidna looked surprised and covered her mouth with her left hand.
"Wait yo-you're joking?" I looked at her incredulously.
Echidna tilted her head at me, then the two of us stared at each other in silence again.
But then I may or may not take a sip in the tea faster than before, it totally didn't turn me on.
Echidna looked at me amused, "I was joking about it, yet you took it seriously."
Oh, honestly I wasn't disappointed at all, the tea is good anyway.
"Say, Blake, isn't this the first time you actually tried to talk to me without the rest of the group. Tell me do you have something to say to me? Or do you want something?" Echidna asked curiously.
I wasn't sure what to say, for better or for worse she's right, I never really tried talking with her with just the two of us, that also includes Lucifer.
I've only talked with the boys from time to time, spending just a little bit of time with the girls, not by choice though.
Because every time I wanted to talk to them, they would always be busy, and this is actually a rare moment that I got to talk to her without interruptions.
Then I jokingly replied, "Of course, it's asking you on a date."
There was sarcasm in my voice, I'm pretty sure that she'll notice it.
Right?
"Oh…okay, I thought you were interested in men at first but I guess I was wrong, okay then let's go on a date shall we?" Echidna smiled at me, whose jaw dropped a little while ago.
(End-)
