The Cotton Candy

"What am I looking at?" One of my eyebrows quirked upward sceptically, my arms crossed over my chest to complete the look. There was a lilac coloured powder sitting on a tray on the table, completely unbothered under the intense scrutiny of everyone standing in a semi-circle.

"This, is cotton candy." Leo, a chemist with electric blue hair who looked like he'd been electrocuted a couple of times for aesthetic purposes, picked a cocaine spoon up from the table and started messing with the powder. "Peak high lasts for three hours and there's no hard comedown. You simply fade right back into existence."

"Bullshit."

"Swear." He picked some up and snorted it, pinching his nose shut with a grimace. "I took a sniff about two hours ago."

"And…? How is it?"

"Smoother than butter, girlboss." He held the coke spoon out to me. "Want some?"

"No, thanks." My eyes squinted at the spoon, which looked a bit humid like steam had blown on it. "Will this sell?"
