The Beginning (All Over Again)

My eyelids felt like they were sealed shut with a mixture of superglue and sand, which was totally not a good combination for the eyeballs. Trying to open them was as futile as lighting a match in the ocean until at one point my body jostled hard, finally drawing me into enough consciousness to make my eyes snap open.

First there was the feeling of disorientation, a typical reaction to waking up in a place you can't recognise. It took my brain some very long minutes to sort through the grogginess, but when it finally calmed, confusion came next.

I was in some sort of box and I wasn't alone.
