The Interview

"I wanted to start by asking you a couple of personal questions, if you don't mind." Serena Valik looked between Dom and I with her sharp eyes as if asking for permission, though we both knew that she wasn't.

"Of course." I nodded politely, pasting on a small smile to disguise how annoyed I was with her behaviour. The woman immediately flipped a few pages in her notebook and skimmed the contents in it.

The interview started off tamely, with her asking me about my hotel management and the club enterprise Dom and I had jointly opened in England.

We had to lie an incredible amount of times because how was I supposed to explain that I'd escaped kidnapping from the mafia, disguised myself for two years, bought Dominico and made him work for his freedom, through which we eventually formed a friendship?

That story became a tale of martyrdom on how I'd met Dom while kidnapped, helped him escape, told him to find my father and he was raised to greatness.
