Chapter 3

August carefully made his way to the village, he had to be careful afraid to disturb the baby's sleep, After a long walk August made it back to the village, when the villagers saw August holding something in his arms, they all gathered.

"What is that Aug?" A chubby villager asked, they can't see what he was holding because the baby was covered in blanket.

"oh Leo, I found this baby in the forest" August showed the baby in his arms.

"Another one eh?" Leo said as he looked at the baby and scratched his head.]

"Is it normal around here?" August asked in a surprised tone.

"Yeah, due to poverty, some families who don't have anything, they throw kids or baby to the forest" Leo said.

"What happened to the found ones?" August asked again.

"Before you came here, we only found dead bodies, but with you around killing monsters, this is the first time we found an alive one" Leo said.

"Then what would happen to the baby?" he asked.

"Normally they will be given to the church, but with the church gone, they will be given to slave merchants"Leo said.

August then entered a deep thought, they would be given to Slave Merchants? they are children for F*ck sake! they are innocent! August got angry when he thought about this.

"So what are you gonna do about the baby?" Leo asked to August who was quiet for a while now.

August was silent for a long while before he muttered "I'll take care of her", even though August only muttered it, Leo heard it clearly, he was surprised, "Are you sure?" he asked.

August turned his head and looked at Leo, he was quiet for a few seconds, "Yes, I will take care of her, I will train her until she is strong enough on her own" August said, and just like that August adopted his first daughter.

"That's Good! haha you don't have a wife right?" Leo said with a laugh, which kinda hurted August, he was not proud of it, he just replied with a shy nod.

"Then name her!"Leo said again.

Aug looked at the baby for a while then said "Elaine, that will be your name"

August bought goat milk, a blanket, and baby clothes, after that he returned to his house with Elaine on his arms, he then arrived on his house, it looks more better now than last month, it looks much better and can be called a human's home, August entered and he slowly laid the sleeping Elaine on the bed, when he retracted his arms Elaine suddenly woke up she stared at him, then her eyes turned and when she saw he was leaving she cried again, August immediately panicked, he dashed to take the goat milk at the table and grabbed it.

He then rushed back beside Elaine and carried her again, she stopped crying when he carried her, he then opened the lid of the bottle which was for babies and poured goat milk on it, he then closed the lid and fed it to her, she then started sipping on it, August sighed in relief, he then slowly put her on the bed and he also laid on the bed.

'So cute' he thought, he then started thinking about things, he never had an experience on taking care of babies and he also have zero knowledge, he decided that he will ask some housewives tomorrow, maybe he could have some tips from them, after a while Elaine finally finished drinking the milk and fell asleep a little later.

August slowly stood up from the bed, carefully just not to wake up the baby, he then made his way to the kitchen and started cooking, after eating he changed his clothes and went beside who was sleeping peacefully, now that August looks carefully at Elaine, she looks like she was about 6-8 months old, she looks really cute, 'I will take a good care of you' August murmured, then he found it laughable.

A warrior who ruthlessly takes lives and had lived on battle all his life decides to take a care of a life, he found that he was also having fun taking care of Elaine, August caressed her head softly then also went to sleep, 'it's easy to take care of a baby' he thought.

-40 minutes later-

"Wah! Wah!" Elaine started to cry, 'An Enemy?' August immediately woke up, he looked around and found nothing, he then turned his head to Elaine who was crying, "What's the problem Elaine?" August slowly carried her and smelled something, he then looked at her clothes "She pooped!?" August panicked, he immediately laid her on the bed softly and dashed to get a wet cloth, baby powder and her clothes.

Before August left the village, the Village chief told him how to change diapers, and Aug also listened attentively, now he knew the basics, but without experience he messed up a little bit, but still finished changing her diapers, Elaine was still crying, August then carried her and did some swaying to make her fall asleep, but she won't fall asleep, August then poured another goat milk into baby bottle and fed it to her.

-Midnight-

Elaine stopped crying and fell back to sleep, August then started cleaning up, when he finished cleaning, he felt very tired, he slowly laid down beside Elaine who was sleeping in the bed, he then also fell asleep.

Early in the morning August woke up early and washed his face on the lake nearby, he then returned to Elaine and changed her clothes, she didn't cry today and was playing, August then carried her and brought her to the village, he then hired a housewife to babysit her for awhile, August can't possibly bring the baby to his hunt right? August then realized, being a father is very hard,, if only he had a wife.

August stopped thinking about it, it was a double damage when he thought about that, he then started hunting for monsters in the forest.
