Chapter 52

"I see them coming!" Georgia said into the mike. The wolves ran across the parking lot. They had sticks and bats. Any cars parked out there were beat on with the sticks. Georgia didn't think they knew she was here, but she couldn't get out of the detachment without them seeing her. She ran to the back of the detachment. Maybe she could find a place to hide.

There was a door into the mall. She could get out through the mall. Something stopped her. The Learning Exchange, the Library, the Coffee Shop, a handful of people walking toward the arena. She could call for help. Then she imagined what the wolves would do in this mall. This town was her home. Georgia bolted the door and slipped back to the other end of the detachment. The wolves still smashed cars in the parking lot. She locked the door that would let them in. She hoped it might at least slow them down.

"Help," a voice came over the radio, "I need help,"

"Tom?" Georgia snatched up the radio. "Is that you?"
