Chapter 69: Sparkes and Blood – Bloody Fools, Part 2

"Great," Bill said, "now all we need is some theme music."

"If we survive," Truscot flashed a brief grin. "I'll play it for you. It was a terrible program, but the music was good."

As they walked back to the quads, Martin made a detour and picked up an axe.

"Philson might have told you that I'm good with an axe," he said. The others looked at him, but Truscot shrugged.

"It's just after noon," the Sargent said, slipping into his briefing mode, "but there is no guarantee that these vampires are sleeping. So stick to the walls like glue. If they attack, make sure you keep the fire lines clear, and don't shoot each other. Martin, if you swing that axe, remember there may be people behind you. We aim for the heart. A blast from your shotgun will shred a normal human's heart. We'll just hope it does for these monsters too. You do realize that we're bloody fools and we're all going to get killed?"
